Bastok... Why so consistently bad?

I have been a bastokan from day 1, which was 3 years ago, and something that has always rankled with me is why bastok has consistently been last in conquest across probably 90% of servers. This has been further compounded by the DISMAL overall display in the recent Crystal War revisited campaign and even more recently the reports from most servers (including mine) that Bastok is already falling by the wayside in WOTG Campaign, with Sandy and Windy dominating all as always.

Its nice being with the underdogs and all, but there must be a reason or a number of compounded reasons for why this is.

I am starting to think that people are just jumping ship to join the stronger nations in order to get the better rewards or more glory etc, and to be honest If the WOTG Bastok rank items turn out to be crap in comparison (Master Caster Bracelets, Iron Ram Lance (Can I Have It) ) I may have to follow suit for Campaign in order to get some nice stuff. This does not sit well with me at all.

Now im not looking to stir up a Sandy RoXoRS, Lastok SuX blah blah nonsense
but there must be something thats tipping the balance.. Is it that there are that many more Elvaan Taru and Mithra all form the starting nations? Are the populations of each nation unbalanced are people from Sandy and Windy just a lot more into Conquest and Campaign... If so why? it just doesn’t make sense why its not more balanced. I think it would be nice to have a better balance where 3 nations compete instead of 2 nations compete for top and Bastok wonder what kind of last place they will be this week.

Bastok has actually been pretty decent for a long time on Pandemonium, with Sandy ironically doing somewhat poorly. When I was doing other nation's rank missions, I would always buy an Aketon before switching to the next one, and was stuck in Sandy for months because they could never get first place. I don't think they've been first more than 2 or 3 weeks since then either. Our server may be an anomaly though, as we were also one of the two servers where bastok wasn't 3rd in the crystal war event, and were actually a couple hundred shards from first place in the final tally.

Windy and Sandy seem to be the main powers on Phoenix as well, however for WoTG I alligned with Bastok. Why? They win (well, at least invincible shield is the coolest galka ever)

Alot of Bastok people I know on Bahamut switched to Windy when they got both starter areas a few weeks ago lol.

Bastok used to be very strong in conquest on bismarck(Usually second place, sometimes first) and Sandoria was always king (First place for years). Then Sandoria dropped off in conquest after a couple expansions (Now its typically in 3rd for conquest)
It simply means less people are exping in old areas with signet that are from sandoria or bastok, than lets say..windurst. Since Meriting typically takes place in TAU (Or Rarely COP) Allegiance isn't properly displayed, since none of that exp effects conquest.

So now that the Crystal Wars are out, all of those lvl 75 sandorians and windurstians are getting counted in the past, instead of not at all(Since they were in a non conquest area, or an area with one faction, such as TAU)

Bastok is probably weak due to having less members than other nations. Also, alot of people may have joined sandoria initially for the death/angelstones.

Sandy used to dominate the conquest rankings. It wasn't until CoP or ToAU came out that Sandy stopped caring. As for the Neo Crystal War event, yeah, Bastok was actually 2nd on Pandy, and Windurst last. But maybe Pandy's Windurst just sucks.

To answer the overall question, I just attribute it to the apathy of the humes.

I have been a bastoker forever... but the /reason/ i am a bastoker is because i like them being last. The majority of my gear that has 'çonquest' bits on it need you to be in an area that you do not own for your nation. Being in the nation that is consistently last really helps with that.

I think Bastok seems most boring city to start out with when players choose home nation. It does everything else but look like epic MMO city you want to start explore.
Im a Bastokan myself, and thats the reaosn i started my game in Bastok, teh otehr nations looked too bright.

Bastok's been first on Midgard quite often for the last few months, but I do remember the days of Lastok.

edit: and while we may have been last in Crystal War Revisited here, we were only like 100 shards behind Windurst.

Bastok used to be last every week years ago on Midgard. But these days, Sandy is last in Conquest the most by far and Bastok seems to be first most often.

Probably not the place to post this cuz it is not exactly advanced, but yeah windurst or laststock have been most consistently first on midgard for a long time. Sandy has lagged behind for a long time even though i think they are the most popular starting city. I blame it on those gay ass elves. They are resting on their laurels. /Stare at those lazy elfs.

The reasons can be quite simple. As for my part (pure opinion based):

- Windy and Sandy have nice looking starter areas... Bastok... nuclear wasteland.

- Windy and Sandy have an awesome piece of music in the starter areas... Bastok... not so much.

- Windy and Sandy Missions both are superior to Bastok - maybe lets ppl associate better with their homenation

and conquest because well many people start there... but then switch to another nation and stay on it
I think Bastok is a very nice looking/easy to navigate area.. unlike windurst which i think i a little ugly and waaaay to big...

But i dont really think its the look or the feel of the zones... i know a lot of people who started as Bastokan but are windy or sandy now, and have almost all OPs and never switched back to their real home nation of bastok

Ahh, but the Bastok stories provide a back story of the Shadowlord in the original game & from the looks of the trailer and current quest/missions in WoTG.
