    1. Launch "Launcher_gui" first.... don't just use "Launch" from the windower 3.3 folder.

    2. Make sure you check "Hide Borders" in the launch tool. I also made sure all resolution settings were the same in all files just in case.

    3. The game should launch up just fine with no graphics overlay issue... but you still can not maximize or minimize. This is easily solved if you go into the console for windower and type "window_toggleframe". I actually have to type that command twice and it will bring my frames back up. And from that point on you can maximize or minimize. This has to be done everytime you launch the game for now until they fix the issue but it fixed mine and it was the only fix available that I could find. I couldn't find any issue with resolution settings anywhere but I am sure I am overlooking something.

Anyways I hope this helps. Good luck. Worked for me atleast lol.

Go here to download .net framework 2.0.... I think there is a 3.0 or higher now but not sure. 2.0 will get you where you want to be or should. Also as far as the graphics go, I believe they should be the same as before. You all may notice it change a little now but in fact the actual graphics were just a little better without the frames added than you were used to. If it is actually adjusting your graphics though... might just be something we have to wait on for a permanent fix. :X I don't notice anything with mine when switching from framed or whatnot. You could always come out of framed mode after you adjust your screen to the size you want it to for now.

    Re: Windower post update?

Graphically, my Windower 3.3 runs great on Vista 32. Frame rate, quality, control reacitiveness all excellent. But I have a completely different issue:

Anytime text of any type shows up in the chat window, all the menus and status bars within FFXI go completely transparent and do not show up again until I escape enough times to make the chat window disappear. While the menus are invisible, I can still arrow through the selections and the bar at the top of the screen shows what menu item I'm on. Also, the FFXI cursor disappears, making targeting impossible.

Since I have the menu layouts memorized I could live with it, but since I cannot see neither the target nor the PC status bars in the lower right corner I cannot use Windower.

BTW, changing the chat window from reactive to fixed makes the menus permanently invisible (changing it back was a little bit of a challenge).

Also, disabling all plugins has no effect on this problem.

    Holy Hero of Windower Junkies,

Have you figured out why Windower will not launch at all? That seems to be the problem I am having Out of curiosity, since I haven't been able to get my windower to work, do the macro files work the same or do you need to edit them?

    Thanks everyone

    Re: Windower post update?

Well as far as windower goes... everything should work fine. The only thing that will hose you up from the windower/plugins before the expansion is the recast plugin. There is a new recast plugin that is available from windower.net for download as of yesterday I believe and it works great but until you get that... all you need to do is not load the old recast plugin. Check your init file under the folder "scripts" and make sure it looks like this:

//load Recast (The // informs windower not to auto-load this plugin at start up)

That is unless you have the new recast or want to download it. In which case, just replace the old recast file in your plugins folder and all should be well.

If this isn't your issue... I suggest removing windower and reinstalling 3.3 and trying again. Some people have also been able to get older versions to work and that might be the case with you so use that as a last resort. As far as the graphics issue goes... still stumped myself and hard to replicate on my end since I don't have the issue. I would say for now come in and out of framed mode til we get a permanent fix or possibly check all resolution settings and play with that. Just don't break anything.

Im having problem with my graphics. I get pixalated blurry look in game. How do I come in and out of framed mode? Do you mean coming in and out of "Windowed" mode? Also should my resolutions match in my FFXI config, desktop, and Windower settings? Sorry for my newbness >.>

There is a support thread that clearly outlines this issue from the same site you downloaded windower from in the first place....let alone they fucking answered this question earlier in the thread. GTFO. You would think people are smart enough to go back to the source of a piece of software for support, but I guess not.

On a lighter note, I never realized how much I used recast until it was gone. Glad it's fixed again.

    Holy Hero of Windower Junkies,

Thank you for clearly outlining this for me and for not questioning my intelligence in doing so.

I did try to go to windower.net but I kept getting an error message as the server was overloaded so I wasn't able to access the site. I wish you the best in your gaming experience.

I did have recast on, so how do I remove that?
In your windower folder there is a scripts folder, inside that folder is a init.txt.

Inside the init.txt file look for "load recast" (without the quotes)
and put a // in front of it, so inside the txt file it'll look like this

    //load recast

Edit: it also seems that if you do the hide-borders option with windower the nov28 update problem doesn't occur.

Sorry buddy, if you would have read the responses to your initial question, you would have found the answer and not had to ask again, making me question your intelligence.
