I don't care about dx9 as long as this fingerpointing about the 8xxx issue doesn't continue endlessly. They said Nvidia admits working on a fix, does anyone have a link where Nvidia actually said that? I can't find one.

They should have asked why is scholar useless for 50+ exp parties and why is dancer useless endgame on most hnms since it will miss or land zeros.
I see you have scholar to 50 AND dancer to 75 and you don't use sushi, angon, or feint.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
Before the expansion came out it seemed fairly clear to me that Scholar was supposed to be a subjob for mages and Dancer was supposed to be a healer for exp and that the jobs were basically just put in to help people complete exp parties so they can level up jobs still. I honestly don't think there are many things needed for end-game situations, but when you level a job in pickup parties you can tell that everyone is a DD and tanks and healers are more rare than they were 4 years ago, these jobs came to help alleviate that issue.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
I highly doubt SE just read something like that on a website and decided to mention it in an interview.Originally Posted by Lasareth

You've done SCH in exp parties 50+ often enough to know?Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
And DNC on HNMs?
Or is it just still theory?
You know, that was actually a decent interview. Halfway through I was like "man these are questions THAT PERTAIN TO MY INTERESTS". It's also nice to see some straight answers out of SE instead of having Dodgee McDodger be the interviewee.

Scholar isn't a main healer type. Check the thread, the more info that spout out about scholar, the more apparent it becomes that is a magical DD.
Well from the context of the interview they said Nvidia "claimed" to be working on a fix, like it's just hearsay now. Nvidia's known about the issue forever and hasn't officially replied to it so I was wondering if there was finally some word from them that we could see or if we're supposed to just take SE's word on it. (because we know how good they are about that)Originally Posted by nekura
Who knows, though. I just want a fix sometime within the next year for my expensive card![]()
NO NO NO SCHOLAR IS A HEALER WITHOUT HASTE LET ME TELL YOU MAN IT IS THE BEAST HEALER THERE EVER WAS BUT IT DONT HAVE HASTE MANOriginally Posted by Lordwafik
agree. i think the 2 "bonus" avatars were both a great addiction to SMN gameplay; neither made the job broken or unbalanced, they just added variety and made the job much much better to play. and I hope this stays the same for the next pet that's gonna be released. It doesn't have to be about "fixing" SMNs. It never hurts to add another toy into the mix, but it'll still be fun to play around with.
<3 Fenrir for the low perp.cost /higher dot that opens a lot of strategies; <3 Diabolos since it introduced ranged BP and its plethora of uses 8)
the next version update is due in... dec? jan?
they specifically mention new blu spells and cor rolls in jan 08 in a couple interviews.Originally Posted by Jackyl
This is a failure as a developer, I'm sorry and I love the game and I don't think it's dying etc etc. But this is admitting that you can't think of a way to mitigate damage other than one obvious one [PLD or WAR/MNK face tank] and one the players told you works [NIN]. Dancer was a wonderful unique job with unique traits, I'm sure with a bit of foresight you can come up with something suitable.-Fans everywhere have been asking, why not another tank class?
-I knew you were going to ask that question. The way we see it, there are two types of tank type jobs, evasion like the Ninja or damage soaking like the Paladin. We didn't see anything that was original enough, and we didn't want to just clone these existing jobs. We know that there is a tough time to finding tanks, so we've decided to adjust existing jobs to be able to tank in certain setups. Expect to see job adjustments coming soon.
Off the top of my head: A magical tank, that can put up an instant cast Stoneskin most of the time to absorb damage. getting hit for 0 will keep hate on you because you simply because you won't lose it. Becomes gear intensive late game to still have your stoneskin be worth a damn vs HNMs, and refresh would be vital.
A parrying tank. Has a seigan-like parrying stance that absorbs 80% of incoming attacks. Similar to if samurai couldn't DD and decided it wanted to play a tanking role. Which it won't.
A counter-tank. Make Counterstance counter WS's as well. Breaking MNK? Probably. Or add a job that does this, holds hate with damage but needs to have hate to deal maximum damage.
A Guard tank. lol
A Enfeebling tank. where Scholar is RDM with no melee or enfeebles, do the opposite. Make a job that can tank with Phalanx and Ice Spikes, RDMs can do this now if they're retarded, But they know they're more useful on the back line. Make a job with these skills into a frontline job.
These are just stream of consciousness thoughts, All of them are unique and different from Shadows or Shield, and although no, they're not fully thought out ideas, They are ideas nonetheless.
Saying "The way we see it, there are two types of tank type jobs, evasion like the Ninja or damage soaking like the Paladin. We didn't see anything that was original enough, and we didn't want to just clone these existing jobs." is admitting defeat, and not even trying. This game would LOVE A new tank job, and it would be the most valuable addition to the game since the Ridill.
Aside: lol @ nvidia fix. Don't look our way, it's not our problem. When a whole industry of games work and one game doesn't, What's the odds that it's a problem with the graphics driver that works on everything else, compared to the one game. Especially when numerous people with that driver can run fine on that game. I have a 7950GT OC I got from work, and my flatmate has a 6800GT OC, And another friend has an 8800GTX Watercooled. All 3 run FFXI at max frame rate with no issues. I run 1600x1200 with 2400x background and get 30fps in Dynamis with max drawdistance, even with bard songs and Firaga IIIs flying.

You are all going to be calling for this dude's head when they make them rechargeable once year or whatever they decide to do.
Wonder if we should expect this in a random WotG patch or the last as in AN. Also wonder if it means there will be actual additions to ToAU, or if they just require something in ToAU. I hope it's the former because it feels like ToAU can still be juiced out a little bit more.-Yes, yes. *laughing* The Aht Urhgan story is not complete, the missions that are part of the main story are finished, but there are still going to be additions. These will be released in future patches.
Seriously, if the ARs are ever one-time rechargeable there will be death threats coming to this guy's house lol.Originally Posted by Vedder
The issue is nVidia GeForce series 8 cards running on Windows Vista. It does not just affect Final Fantasy XI, numerous older games have frame rate issues because of drivers, but it seems the problem is magnified more so with FFXI.Originally Posted by cassiraa
