Just wanted to comment about this in regards to Fan Fest: I was disappointed that some of the audience was booing the Smash Brothers just for not being the Star Onions. Several of the members are famous video game music remixers (if you've spent any amount of time at ocremix.com, you should recognize some of them), and I thought their music was great. Admittedly, I had expected the Star Onions as well, but I was not at all upset to see Smash Brothers performing instead.

The guy I went with to the festival was an even bigger fan and ended up getting all of their autographs, but that's another story.

Or maybe they just sucked. To each his own I guess, but they had 1 good song (I enjoyed their airship theme) but for the most part their music was incoherent. I have every soundtrack from FFXI and couldnt recognize most of the songs they did except for maybe 1 riff here and there. Im all for creative license, but when you cover a song it should at least resemble the original.

Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like they didnt even play FFXI, or for that matter know any of the best songs in the game. Ok so maybe the star onions member already took distant worlds and awakening (in my opinion the 2 best songs the game has to offer). I would have been happy with a rock remix of them anyway. But seriously how do you go to play for a FF fan festival not equipped with at least a sweet rendition of a chocobo theme. Like i said, the airship theme was good, but other then that the star onions member blew them away.

TSB's biggest failings:
-Trying to have a 7 piece rock band mixed on a hotel mixing board/sound system.
-Sharing the stage with a semi-cute asian girl and playing for an audience of mostly lonely male weeaboos.

That doesn't explain the people who were booing, or getting up and leaving, when they had barely started. The people who stayed a while and decided that they didn't really enjoy it, I have no objection to. But there were people being assholes before they had even heard anything, and the only reason I can think of is that they expected the Star Onions (hell, I did) and didn't get them.

As hard as I tried to like Smash Brothers, they would start a song off and before I could recognize it turn it into a screeching cacophony that I couldn't make heads or tails of. And, even when they saw people leaving and booing, they keep acting like they were rocking the place. I blame it on the guy with the overpowering guitar.

On the other hand, the jumping violinist was pretty funny...
