Whitegate NPCs crashing the game

I know it's been mentioned in various other threads, but I think it deserves it's own thread so it'll be easier to keep track of things.

Anyways, every so often players are having the game crash/freeze/lag badly when talking to NPCs in Whitegate. This doesn't seem to happen in any other zone from what I've seen/read. It could just be the popular NPCs, or it could be the entire zone.

If anyone experiences this, can you please list the NPC you talked to and what system you play on.

And before "PS2 Limitations" are mentioned, this wasn't happening til about a month or so ago when they did one of their updates, so I'm guessing something got screwed up then.

Happens to me on the Sanction guy (Asrahd), Rytaal, the warp Taru, and all of the Assault mission NPCs. I am sure it will happen on more. Sometimes it locks up for less than a minute, sometimes you have to turn off the PS2 and it seems to be getting worse with how often it occurs.

I know a LOT of people who switched from PS2 to PC or Xbox because of this one problem. It's ridiculous that it hasn't been fixed yet.

Started happening to me about a month ago also.

I freeze all the time at:

Sanction NPC
Currency Exchange NPC
Silverpiece Warp taru
Assault Tag giver

It happened to me waaaaay longer than a month ago. But in total, only about 4-5 times and only on NPCs in the Commissions Agency on Friday/Saturday EST nights.

I always just attributed it to the lag caused by all the JPs Assaulting and running to & fro.

PS2:
Half the time at the teleport paying taru and the mog house dude (That you don't need to talk to anymore yay!)
About 1/4 times for the sanction guy, the guy that gives assault tags and the guy that gives imperial pieces.
Only happened once for Abqubah, I waited like 2 mins and it was ok.
Never had any problem with the other npcs mentionned, maybe I'm just lucky.

I thought it happened on every console... oh well, just disapointed it never got fixed because this is getting into a major annoyment.

Only happens on the 3 main NPC's that everyone talks to.

Coin guy, warp taru and Santion dude. I rarely if ever go to Whitegate anymore because of it.

And I'm also on a PS2.

Im afraid to get sanction, AF, coins, or assault tags b/c of this annoying-ass problem.

It's happened to me for far longer than a month. I'd estimate it started about 4-6 months ago for me.

The questgiver for Merrow No.17's Locket completely crashed my PS2 twice before I could get the cutscene. The same thing happened to 3 other people in my party. This has been a while though, so I don't know if it's still a problem.

You can add the Galka in the Automaton Shop to the list as well. I had this happen to me when I traded my last item for my WHM puppet head, and had to retraded the coffee because of it.

I've also had this happen a lot (I'm on PS2 as well).

Mainly I've noticed it at the currency exchange npc, but last night the silver piece warp taru locked me up for about a minute for the first time.

I've also had problems in the past with the AF storage npc, but more than anything it has been the currency exchange npc.

I used to have to reboot, but now it just freezes for a good minute or so and pops back. Happens every assault run, highly retarded.

it's not just ps2, i'm on 360 and it happens to me too fairly frequently, and getting worse also it seems. same NPCs.

This has been happening to me too. Warp taru in whitegate, currency NPC, etc..
I put in a tech support ticket with S.E. If you guys haven't, I suggest you do the same. It's in the POL viewer.

Definitely started with one of their updates because it was fine for me for over a year. Then about 1.5-2 months ago it started.

What's even worse is I play on PS3 now, which I got about 4 months ago, and that lags more then the PS2 use to. Bleh!

Seems to be PS2, PS3 and Xbox users but not PC users.

I'm playing on PC, no freezing problems, thing is, if someone in my LS freezes on PS2, he just asks me to talk to the same NPC and it unlocks him, hope this helps if it hadn't been mentioned.

Don't go to Whitegate.

Seriously, it's amazing the change it made.

Actually though, the A.C. in Waters [S] has been scaring me, but I think it's just lag from the backlog of people trying to Campaign.

That's pretty much what I've been doing since it start happening, so that's probably why I was thinking it was only a month ago instead of longer.

This has been driving me crazy I only goto whitegate for salvage, assault and after I have an exp invite.

PS2 - Coin/Assualt/Storage/Warp/PUP Galka/Sanction
