3, one of these days i'll get it down to 2.

one for mage jobs, one for melee jobs, don't need more than that.

    Five.

    PLD
    NIN
    BRD
    DNC
    MNK

Got a ton of varous setups for a couple of those jobs in each book, though some of them (DNC BRD MNK) are just too low to bother with different setups... yet. It's sad, I barely have time to play anymore, but I did manage to squeeze in time to fix my fuckin' macros. x.x

The gear/main JA/WS macros stay the same between sets, but other tiles vary depending on what SJ it's for e.g. Berserk vs. Hasso vs. Sneak Attack vs. Poisona + Healing Breath gear swaps vs. Foot Kick + Healing Breath gear swaps, etc. It sure beats the cut and paste jobs I had to do before macro books were added. One pallet was full of extra JA/spell macros I'd swap whenever I used a different SJ.

So what do you do with the other half of your DRG macro book?

One book for each job, using the different sets for each sub i use plus level caps. I used to have to rewrite macros when i changed subs or when leveling new jobs (since all 10 sets were full), so I really appreciate having the 20 books now. I've never used windower macros though, so I might be missing something there.

This is how I play it too. I'll add macros to each book as I get to playing the job (I copied over my main macro set for THF/PLD/DRK since I had macros for those saved). Eventually I'll have macros set for every job I ever feel like playing.

4, two books for RDM because I use different sets of macro lines depending on my setup. then one for WAR and one for SCH. Also use windower macros.

    1 book of windower macros.

I would use standard macros if they gave us a sane amount of lines (at least 1 line for each gear slot) and fixed the issues with lag and speed on standard macros.

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

I use 1 book per job, but I use many of the sets because I really like to not have to adjust macros for events. Like I have a MNK set for /WAR, /THF and /NIN, but I also have multiple /NIN for XP, Salvage, Def+, etc. There are now so many macro sets I have no problem being wasteful about them.

And you can use multiple macro books and windower macros, they are not multiple exclusive.

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

I use 1 book per job (THF, SAM, DRK, RNG), with each set being for a different possibility (different subs, zerg sets, dynamis sets, etc.) I do not use Windower macros since I do not want to rely on Windower for something like macros. Many of the macro sets are empty in each of these books, but that gives me room for future expansion.

The other 5 pages are empty at the moment. Even though I could probably squeeze most of my macros into that book as well, I still prefer separating out into books for the sake of being organized and also preventing potential flub-ups like accidentally moving from my WHM pallet to my lowbie RDM pallet and casting Bio instead of Repose. It's also nice not having to delete/rewrite any macros when I want to level on a lowbie job. I figure I've been given the functionality, so I might as well use it.

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

I like to separate them into a ton of different books, even if I'm not using the full book (and I don't). I like having things organized and categorized, even if it means a few extra clicks to switch between macros. I have a lowbie/sub job book, a RDM main book, a traveling/coffer hunting/etc. book, and even a Besieged book.

I still use Windower macros for gear swapping though.

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

I'll echo the Windower macros + One book per job mantra. I like to be able to have an entire palette for each sub rather than stuffing it all into one. So I have a book for SAM, and that book has a /THF /WAR /NIN palette etc (zomg /nin sucks debate! jk).

I like to use the standard macros with /console exec lines, rather than binding the number keys like some people do. Using it in that manner means 6 lines is more than enough to get the job done, and it allows me to make quick palette changes to access other spells that I couldn't fit onto the main palette.

Another cool thing I found was to use the new /macro commands with the AutoExec Windower plugin. When I change jobs, AutoExec sets me to exactly the right book/palette so I never have to fumble around with it

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

I use one book per job, with book 1 being my first job, book 2 being my second job, and so on. Then I set it up so that Palette 1 is the main palette, with Palette 2 being the buff palette, Palette 0 being the /WHM palette, Palette 9 (for BLM only) for ancient magic, -ga spells and stuff. This way its more or less consistent across the books and makes it easier for me.

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

I'm pretty much following the general trend of what everyone else is saying. 1 Book Per Job (WHM, MNK, RDM, DNC) that I have at 75 or intend to take to 75. I might open up a 5th book just for crappy subjob leveling. I do like the idea of keeping my macros organized now. My WHM macros began to feel incredibly cluttered.

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

I used to use a batch file to basically do the same thing books are doing now: switch my 10 macro sets from BLM/SMN/BRD macros to MNK/PLD macros.

Even with the batch files, I was extremely lazy to actually put them into use and make more macros ._.

And that laziness still reflects now, as I'm still using just one book for my BLM/SMN/BRD macro lines, hopefully I wont have to play PLD or MNK anytime soon <_<

    (windower macros... obviously)

I need to stop being lazy one day and do macros

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

One other thing I do is use Book 20 set 1 (ie, a book I will never ever use) as a 'menu' set. CTRL-0 on each macro set points to the 'menu' set, and all the macros in said 'menu' set points to a different book and set depending on what I want to do. Basically, I am 2 macros away from any macro set I want. Works great now, but whenever I add another job I might have to rethink things. >.>

Re: How many Macro Books do YOU use?

1 book for tanks, 1 book for melee dd, 1 book for mage. all those 3 using windower macros, and 1 book with standard non-windower macros as a backup incase w/e fails. I'll probably be making new sets for ballista soon if i ever get dragged to do ballista.
