BRD Skill questions concerning Trumpet/Nereid Rings.

These two new rings (NQ:+2 Wind Skill/HQ:+3 Wind Skill) added in the new expansion. Was wondering if +4/+6 wind skill would be better than +8/+10 CHR/Macc+5. Shit is situational obviously and they are new so I doubt people have tested it. (I'd test myself but I dunno wtf I am doing in that regard.) If anyone has any input, it'd be great thanks.

Gut response is that it behaves just like Elemental magic skill, in that you need a good base and from there you are better off piling on the INT. For blm's, the skill level seems to be about 330'ish for the cutoff on most HNM in the game. For Bard it's a bit different in that you have 2 combined skill groups to derive from, and then pile on CHR.

For BRD, it's more "Get every bit of skill you possibly can, then pile on CHR on other slots for placebo" INT affects BLM spells greatly, CHR affects BRD songs very minimally. Use the Trumpet Ring.

For buffs, all BRD songs are capped at like level 75 skill with a little instrument/singing skill that's fairly easy to achieve without sacrificing ring slot.

For debuffs it's probably useful for ensuring full landing and duration on lullaby, though I doubt it'd matter on elegy though, since resist rate for elegy is either 5% or 90% with almost nothing in between, and the potency is static.

BRD songs don't increase in potency as you increase CHR though, unlike BLM nukes... right? So I don't see how CHR is gonna help you very much after a certain amount.

I just pile on as must skill as I possibly can. I've never had any problems sticking anything and never really noticed a difference going from Jester's cape +1 -> Astute cape and Angel's ring -> Trumpet ring.

I personally use Trooper's Ring and Ether Ring fulltime on Bard cause A) I'm almost always /WHM, and B) the -enmity is going to do more for me than +4/5 CHR when I already have over 100 total.

I'm unwilling to give up my Rajas for a Tamas, but I was thinking about Balrahn's Ring when I finally get a party to finish the last AU mission, to replace my Ether Ring for /NIN or debuffs in general.

This post is full of truth. Picked up a trumpet ring for 4k, and paired it with my Balrahn's ring (though my 2 string macros- finale and horde lullaby, swap it for an angel's ring). Once I convince my fiancé to fish me up trumpet shells, I'll eventually replace it with the HQ. 8)

I actually have an mp set, a 'no more resist' set, and a hybrid of the two. I'm contemplating trying the mp set in dynamis, but stringed instruments (hihorde) are really annoying. I don't have many resist problems, even with nursemaid's harp, when using the 'no more resist' set though.

Every time I see a "... resists the effects of the spell!" I panic, and look to see it's just a statue anyway. >_>

Heaven's Ring / Tamas ring, i could get a trooper's ring for buffs, since the CHR doesn't help at all, and wind skill would be useless since all my songs are capped as is. (And for debuffs, a wind skill ring would be ok if you dont have full mp, or else you lose the 30mp from tamas). And hey, the combination works fine. If i NEED more wind skill over CHR, i can swap AF2 pants with AF+1 pants (1:1 ratio on chr to skill) vs 2/3 wind skill for 5 chr.

Can always try wearing a Jelly Ring / Merman's Ring in place of the Trooper's Ring depending on what you're fighting. If you're really worried about enmity during buffs, you can always toss on something like a Raven's Beret. -Enmity can be found it far more slots (and far more useless ones during bard buffs) than such a high amount of straight damage mitigation that the ring slots provide for bard.

Only because you saw Atum on Bard sporting 1.2k+ HP and thought that it would be cool. But it's OK, not everyone can be born an awesome Galka.

I hope they let us swap ToAU rings like they did with CoP rings ;_; I took the melee one because I thought I wanted to level sam and now I want the macc one :/
