Until we sub DRK or BLU. >_>

I unlocked the latent on my Sapara of Trials using Vorpal Blade to make a skillchain with someone, I was thinking "Wow this is a good WS, can't wait to see what Savage Blade is like!" 300 WS points, an annoying trip through Altepa, and one easy NM fight later and I was sorely disappointed. /sigh.

I haven't used Howling since they updated it, I still use Raging Fists sometimes though to make a SC. (KRT Ghost habits kick in) Combo is pretty good for a 10 skill WS.
Your typical party setup isn't NIN, WAR, THF, BRD, COR, RDM is it? I think the only time I saw 600+ from Jin pre-merit was with a two Bard party on Toramas. It disappoints pretty often in Limbus as well for me. I don't have the absolute best gear, but it is pretty good and Katana/Crit+ are capped.

I'm personally hoping to see the new WSes come out and have one better than Jin for Kantana. Or maybe make Ku worth using other than to not heal Puks.

Howling Fist is amazing since they updated it. They probably changed it to help out PUP but it does remarkably consistent 500-550 damage on VT-low ITs for me. My personal highest was 807 on those green crawlers w/ a BRD, but I think we were there one or two levels later than we should have been...they died really fast, but the EXP/hr wasn't very good.

    Re: 60 levels of lame

Was just cracking out 3-400 Jins on Colibri as 64NIN(531 High, 342 Avg), no Food, no BRD, no COR. More then likely the 6-700s came with a BRD, with Food though I generally hit 500+. Usually eat Sushi unless we are not overcamping by much. My highest Jin to date was 934, with a BRD, Meat and Berserk on Crawlers in Aydeewa @63.

    WS Gear; 360 Attack, +27STR, +16DEX - No Food or Berserk. (w/ Sushi +32STR, +24DEX, Atk w/ Berserk 450)

    Ulth/Rajas
    Amemet+1
    Potent
R.K. Legs (Using Hikazu Hakama atm cause RKs on mule!)

I wish I got to level with BRDs more.. :/

I used combo on THF until I get Viper Bite. Sneak Attack + Combo = almost half of a mob HP gone in the jungle. With occasional fusion SC, mobs are going down very fast. In the lower lvl, it doesn't matter if you're not using the right type of weapons with a certain job, if it does more DMG, just use it lol

    Re: 60 levels of lame

SA Fast Blade rocks shit too.

Gust Slash sucks, but damn it's funny as hell to go into first person, run backwards away from a mob and then Gust Slash it and kill it.

Backhand Blow picked up nicely til I got RF.

You wanna know what sucks? Gsword WSes before SS/GS.

I was skilling it on War, which doesn't even get what, Sickle and SS?

I learned Shockwave and was like "ooh, that sounds cool."

AoE Sleep WS for the fucking loss

    lolpenta

I remember presushi days in 2003 where if you used Penta in exp parties, you did 30-150 damage with it. Double Thrust 3-59 then Skewer 60-64 then wheelin thrust 65-75. Although back then Wheeling Thrust did about 150-250 without /THF and /THF was the preferred subjob at 75 because Wheeling Thrust used to be a 1.00x modifier and typically sucked.

I usually found Slice and Dark Harvest okay.. then again I only levelled it to 37 to use as a sub for RDM.

Great Sword is just abysmal though. I originally thought Frostbite would be good but it's horrible.

The blind effect from Nightmare Scythe has helped out going solo a lot.

Rampage at level 10 wouldn't be unbalancing at all.

Who is asking for that? The point is that as you get better with a weapon, your weaponskills should be better, sadly most of the time they are not. It's a a little thing called progression.

Nothing was more fun than when I was levelling BST to see I unlocked a new WS "Calamity" ! Then I used it.

Are those Scythe weaponskills? I've never heard of them before today.

Welcome to FFXI. We progress in a sideways, and often backwards direction.

Axe weaponskills, just that they aren't used so often since Rampage/Mistral are usually better suited for the task.

Calamity is only useful at 300% TP with Sneak Attack. That's probably why you've never heard of it.

Id say the only melees that get hosed really on WS damage early on are Drk and Rng. Pld/Nin WSs are kinda gimp but im not really counting those two as pure DD jobs till later lvls.
Fixed. Also, at lower levels Fast Blade, Combo, Double Thrust are all very worthwhile.
