You read my post incorrectly, like I said, after one successful robbery, criminals will expand their endeavors. If they can successfully rob my neighbors house, that puts my house at a huge risk. If/when it comes to that, my wife and kids may or may not be home, or if they decide to lift my other neighbors house, their children may or may not be home. Stopping it now is insurance that future escalations from those criminals is non-existent.

Anywayz, to Tyche, I hear ya in the respect of preventative measures, as I can see how it would prevent people from comitting crime in this areas again surely. But what im trying to say is that did 2 people need to die for this to happen? I surely hope not. I realize I could just be looking at the "friendly lets all get along" side of things, But I believe that a neighbor shooting someone NOT to kill them would be preventative measures enough to resort to stopping robberies and violence in this neighborhood alone, ya know? Let me know! 8)

in all honesty, do you think they would have been shot for what they did in their own country? you think they might have been here to do it w/o fear of being killed? well if thats the case, they picked the wrong state.

your neighborhood is where you live, its your home, may not be your house, but its your home. he wanted his home to be a safe place, for the people who live there(obviously not the thieves).

Just wanted to point out that these two guys were burglars, not robbers. Robbing someone involves inflicting harm on someone to deprive their property. Since no one was home at the place, I'd call these men burglars.

you cant possibly call them one or the other without knowing what they were prepared to do, how do we know they knew noone was home? if someone was home, then it would have been a robery, since noone was its a burglary. but you never know what the intent was or how far they would have gone.

I don't think I'm understanding your point. So because there wasn't a wife and kid involved then there's no reason to stop it? You do know how robbery works right? They succesfully break into one house and have nothing go wrong, guess what? They're gonna go back to that neighborhood and break into another house considering they weren't caught the first time. Do we even know if the guy who shot them was good friends with the neighbor? If my friends house was being broke into I wouldn't fucking stand there with a thumb up my ass and do nothing.

Killing someone for robbing a home is not appropriate, I really don't care if you think "they deserve it".
If killing someone for that reason was legitimate, the penalty for a conviction would be death. Notice how it isn't.
I don't condone robbery in any way, but seriously guys, come on. I'm glad I live nowhere near that backwards-ass state.

It is also not "natural selection", people throw that bullshit phrase around far too much.

I'm fairly sure that Charismatic was joking. And if offensive jokes fill the thread with stupidity, then BRP's was a bit worse (although it was slightly funnier).

Re: Texas man kills 2 men robbing his neighbor's home

Unfortunately in todays (U.S.A) society regardless of the laws protecting the man doing the shooting there is really only one thing that I was thinking "DEAD men can't sue". I'm not even going to debate whether or not the shooters actions were justified. But we live in a country where things like THESE can and do happen all the time:

    http://www.comcast.net/news/strange/...12/411381.html
    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1699174.shtml

If he had just kneecapped the guys regardless of what else happened they could have tried to sue him. As is the families of the victims in this case could still attempt to take the shooter to civil court. Whether or not they could afford to pursue a lawsuit is entirely another story (prolly not considering they were robbing someones house.)

See, this is why you are my hero! People who stand there and do nothing while someone trolls around a neighborhood scouring for victims is a coward. Personally, I'd shoot, cut or mame the motherfuckers also. I mean who is to say that the homeowners wont walk in on a burglary and be killed.

Again, maybe I am sensitive due to scenarios like this due to my parents being killed under the same circumstances. These victims could have easily been killed simply for opting to go home after a day/night out. I mean, Not to beat a dead horse or anything but my dad in particular was killed 4 years ago for simply walking into HIS house and finding my mom (His wife) bleeding and tied up from a burglary.

I hate to say it and I'd hate to condone such shit against other people, but they had this coming. If you chose to take from someone, then you deserve everything that happens to you. That is just my opinion.

Edit: The natural selection this was just something that I choose to say to show my disdain for these types or crimes. It is more painful rehashing of memories talking than truthfulness or jest. I am not saying that the guy shooting should be cleared or off the hook in any manner, I was just making a point that usually people that do these sorts of things are cowards and should take into account all risks, when stooping to this level.

Again, I don't proclaim the person that shot them "an hero" or anything, I am just saying that I feel more dislike towards the burglars than anyone else pertaining to this story. Is my POV skewed slightly? Yes, perhaps, I wont deny that. But it is how I feel when I read/see/hear about these types of stories. I do however, think we are better off without them.

I am not going to fucking lie, sometimes I wake up and feel like the motherfucking Punisher.

    he protected someone ELSE's home.

    clearly wasnt his own.
This is apparently going to be the major sticking point in defending him - this guy had to have reasonable expectation to be "in charge" of defending his neighbor's property in order to be protected by law, unless he can come up with a "self-defense" charge depending on what exactly happened right before he shot the guy. If it had been his house he'd be fine, but when it's someone else's, he has to be in a position where he is "responsible" for the property he is defending - like if the neighbor told him "keep watch of my house while I'm gone" sort of thing.
I thought it was legal to protect a neighbor's home like this, in Texas, without having to be responsible for it? All that's required to be a neighbor is to live next to them.

As for "I'd shoot him in the kneecaps", well personally, I'd shoot his thumbs off first to prevent him from attacking me, then I'd shoot off one of his ears and tell him not to do anything funny or I'll shoot the other ear off.
