Gosh people sure are getting riled up over a misunderstanding of a fairly straightforward sentence. I read this as:

If you are a thief breaking and entering, you assume the risk of getting shot. Especially in Texas, given the current circumstances.

If you are a drunk driver, you assume the risk of killing yourself and others in a blazing fireball of twisted metal.

This is what 'they both can end up getting you killed, teenager or not' means not 'death for drunk drivers.'

But hey why actually try to understand what someone is saying when you can make irrational statements once incensed? It's our god-given right to make uninformed attacks on the other side amirite?
I think my misunderstanding was plenty founded, and don't confuse me for the sort that is trying to use reactionary sentiments to win arguments. I already made it clear that i understand both arguments. You could at best argue that i want to go about calling the guy a murderer, but i can't because of reasons already mentioned. And i could at best call you out as someone who rather publicaly support what the guy did, but would find it very irresponsable to do so.

You and me are just playing it safe in this argument, unless that is, you come out and say what your position is.

The problem with this is that with just a description of a person who broke into a house there is very little that the police can do. If the culprit is not apprehended on the scene there's actually a very little chance of him ever being caught. Based on this guys actions I assume he knew that, since he was waiting for the police until they re-emerged from the building and he wasn't going to let them get away.

I'm not promoting or discouraging this guys actions, from the 911 call he did seem a little hasty to kill (especially when he goes outside, you can hear him yell "You're dead!" at the thieves) but at the same time the thieves knew the possible consequences of their actions when they went into that house.

Enough with the drunk driving scenario. total derail and complete other thread. The reason I provoked stimulus (see page 1) on this thread is to see what everyone thought on some sort of actual adult level. Lets continue it on that level?

Fyi. this guy shot these guys with a shotgun. and basically blew their heads off. Anyone who has ever actually shot a shotgun before knows how much buckshot spreads. There was NO buckshot found anywear on these guys below the waist area. You are ABSOLUTELY aiming to kill somoene no questions asked if there is no buckshot found in someones body below their waist area with a shotgun. This prick wanted these guys dead. For burgularizing a house without weapons that wasnt even his own. gtfo. A fucking antique dish, a watch, and a fucking necklace is not worth someones life. ninja edit: 2 peoples lives.

You said you'd kill anyone who was in the act of drunk driving. Drunk driving doesn't necessarily mean that they killed someone either. Either cut the hard-line authoritarian rhetoric or man the fuck up when you say it.
A good friend of mine got killed when a drunk driver plowed into his car. Fuck drunk drivers. Fuck their irresponsibility. Fuck you defending it like it's some amoral choice that you can make arbitrarily. You're a moron for even raising a hand in defense of them, let alone hounding someone with sensibilities that are in line.

    he protected someone ELSE's home.

    clearly wasnt his own.
    I'd be thanking the guy.

Black, white, Hispanic, I don't care. You're breaking into someone's house? BLAM. Been robbing the place and know your friend has guns? Both barrels to be sure.

Sean Taylor's fiance and kid would probably have appreciated someone headcapping the guy before he got in the back door and killed him, to use a recent example.

Edit: Or afterwards, for that matter. You see two people robbing and pillaging a friend's home? Looters. Your average National Guardsman would do no less, and aiming low means if they survive and ARE armed...you have an empty shotgun and a target who will quite certainly try and kill you if at all possible if you didn't disable him.

    QFT

My cousin died in a similar incident, and there are thousands and thousands of the same stories.

3 of my friends were also victims of a drunk driver, which led to their death. Still, doesn't give the right for anyone to execute them. It wasn't intentional, I support being extremely strict with drunk driving, but do not want them to die, thats for sure. Emotions aside.

I read this thread's title as "Texas man kills 2 men while he was robbing his neighbour's home." I thought it'd be more entertaining that way.

Way to miss the point? I never defended drunk driving; I attacked demo for saying that he'd kill *anyone* he caught in the act of doing it. Drunk driving is stupid, happens too often, and sadly causes death. But should *everyone* with alcohol in their system higher than the legal limit be killed for it? Sorry about your friend who was killed, but I'm sure you have other friends or acquaintances who have on occasion driven home on a friday night with higher than .08 too. It's still stupid, but it's not first degree murder.
