POL's lost character policy?

my story is I used to be in BG but some time after CoP I let my friend Murdoc use my char because I wasn't playing much. he basically took the char over and changed the account info, I don't think of it as stealing really because he thought I wasn't ever coming back. the last thing I've heard is that he gave the char away to another friend or something.

to me, the bottom line is that I never sold it or gave permission for it to be taken away from me permanently. but this was like, 2 years ago... so, I'm wondering if POL can recover my char for me.

so does anyone know the POL policy on recovering lost/"stolen" chars? I've been searching their Q&A and can't find anything.

The credit card information on the account has no doubt been changed which means you can't prove that it's yours so it seems you're pretty much out of luck and this topic doesn't really belong here anyways.

so if someone's account is stolen and the credit card info changed, there's no chance of getting it back? that seems strange to me, it's like they've made it a perfect crime. just hack someone's password and change the credit info and it's yours forever?
