Jeez man. fuck kansas...seriously. CDR is an idiot and blew the game for his team btw. Rose should have been the one who tryed to play hero. Way to choke on the free throws man.
wow kansas got lucky lol... memphis gonna be practicin free throws all off-season lol...
hehe thanks, I'd say that was about as good of a game as you could ask for in the championship, and really either team could win any given day, and at their best those 2 teams are so much better than the rest of the game it's hard to even graspOriginally Posted by Akiyama
The technical call is pretty highly arguable, they made a big deal about how you can't bounce the ball like that, period, be it in celebration, anger, at the refs, at yourself, whatever. I can understand though not wanting to be the guy that called the technical that took Memphis off the line and put KU shooting 2, down by 2, and getting the ball after. As far as the layup there was pretty clear body contact all around in the air, but again I can see not wanting to make the call. If you wanna be the champion you gotta do it by putting the ball in the basket, not by drawing a little body contact in the air. Any time during the first 30-35 minutes of the game though, that's a foul and a smart drive heh.
In the end though it came down to weaknesses and strengths clearly defining themselves and in this particular game, Memphis's weakness was a broken back.
What a game, and congrats to Chalmers on converting a few million into 10's of millions with 1 single shot lol.
FUCK YES, KU OWNS YOU ALL
Awesome game and it had the outcome I wanted. I was shaking the whole second half and overtime.
Did Memphis get any outstanding recruits to replace Rose, who will probably go to the NBA, and Dorsey since he's graduating?
Man.. I think people are going to focus too much on the late free throw misses. If you would've told me KU would be anywhere near Memphis at the end of regulation if they hit 1 3-pointer in the first 37:48 of play, I'd say no way. KU had a cold shooting game from the perimeter.. but made up for it by dominating in the paint (mostly in the 1st half) and playing their usual amazing defense. There is no team that is even remotely close to Kansas when it comes to the amount of times they get their hands on a ball being dribbled by the other team, whether or not it becomes a steal. Memphis could have won either by making some points in the paint or by taking better care of the ball (mostly in the 1st half as well). Or.. the most glaring in my mind, Memphis could have won the game by not sloppily throwing the ball away late on the end-bounds pass that KU stole and made a 3, their 2nd of the game, and first of 2 huge wons. For the combination of those 2 Kansas possessions, Memphis started on defense up by 9 points and didn't get the ball back in their own halfcourt until the lead was down to 4. Now enter the free throws.. where, yes, they could have won it with more than 1-for-5 FT shooting in the clutch. But keep in mind, even with those 4 misses, Memphis still shot above their season average for FTs in tonight's game. (ESPN also emphasizes Memphis could have won it by calling a timeout when there was 10.8s left.. but I think that it's pretty rough to try to pin the loss on Calipari.. It's not like what Chalmers did is something easily repeatable) Utimately.. it was an amazingly fun game to watch. More Championship games need to go to OT. '-'
I wish I were involved in the chaos on Mass right now...
The thing with them calling a time out was that they wanted Memphis to foul before a shot could go up, which they tried to, and basically did but you'd have to be retarded as a ref to actually call that foul and put KU in an impossible to recover position.
They wouldn't have called a foul if 2 guys had grabbed his arms as he was taking the shot either. See: Texas A&M.
They tried at the start to foul, but you see when Chalmers goes up for the shot, the defender pulls his hands back to not foul and what not (granted it'd send him to the line for 3 shots), but still. They should have gotten a timeout to sort of collect their thoughts and plan it out, not play it by ear. Memphis just crumbled and had a panic attack under pressure.Originally Posted by Plow
So what did you all think about Roy Williams' KU sticker at the game?
I heard that he just left the rest of his sticker collection in the hotel.

Im thinking a Baron Davis type mold with a little better point guard skills and a little less shooting ability and hopefully a lot less injuries.
Or you could have just repeated what other analysts have said. He's a Jason Kidd build with a better jump shot. That's my opinion at least.Originally Posted by RakEx

Ditto. I was glad to see it, myself. Not that I'm particularly attached to any of those teams, but I thought it was a nice move. The sticker was a strange choice; why didn't he just spend $20 on a Kansas shirt, if he had tossed all his KU gear?Originally Posted by Tyche

pretty ridiculous really lol, there's no semblence of parity in women's ball, there's Tennessee, there's UConn, and then there's everyone else... "everyone else" has 14 to their 13
