This is why I keep the fact I enjoy anime strictly to the internet. I can deal with crazy people online, but the day I saw more than one Naruto headband at college, well... this is when I feel like you.Originally Posted by Maguspk

This and cowboy bebop are pretty much the only two I've watched and enjoyed. Spirited Away was definitely aimed at an audience much younger than me, though it has that creepy way of being enjoyable for everyone like a good old disney cartoon ala pinnochio or beauty and the beast.Originally Posted by Firas_Gattz

yeah seriously, wut? and just from the names of the others (candy candy, slam dunk and card captor sakura? isnt that the monster in card anime?) they sound like the typical obnoxious anime that we are all talking about, BUT i could be wrong.Spirited Away, Candy Candy, Slam Dunk, Card Captor Sakura, Pokemon and Vampire Hunter D rocked. Rest, meh meh meh.

Anime/Manga are Japanese cartoon/comics, some of which(most of the named anime in this thread) is targeted for children and young adults. Why must people have such a rigid standard? It's not like you can turn on NBC or Fox and get more than 2 or 3 shows that have any sort of quality. Instead of shonen you get Crime drama #3332 or Sitcom #4234. If you can't enjoy cartoons or comics for what they are, god help you.
The fact that every single anime listed so far is basically apart of the Adult Swim lineout makes me wonder. It would appear if it isn't a under their thick nostalgia goggles, like Voltron or G.I. Joe, the quality suddenly drops.
That said, LOL@Pokemon Anime. That's Dora the Explorer tier. Not to sound like someone who is holding a grudge against pokemon, I have most of the games and love the Pokemon Adventure/Special manga. The plot was extremely shallow and followed the same formula: Meet Pokemon/Trainer/Both, Team Rocket steals Pokemon/Pikachu/Both, Team Rocket is defeated by Deus ex machina thunderbolt, and they leave and will have little to no recollection of incident. It was basically 50+ episodes of filler with only the occasional Gym Leader episode being interesting. It's only redeemable quality was the Pokemon League episodes at the end.
screw you all, gurren lagann pwns![]()
Hey is hentai considered legit anime?
Cus I dont find that obnoxious at all. hehe
I liked Spirited away, Ichigo mashimaro, Trigun, Ghost in the shell, witch's delivery service(Jiji <3), Cowboy bebop, etc. I like cute things and action things.
I liked hello kitty too, so damn cute...... but shhhh dont tell anyone.
I really liked card captor sakura (*'-') when I was 13
Anyone who spends thousands of dollars to travel all the way across the world just to throw money into toy dispensers needs to die in a fire asap. Silly wapaneses~
Most Amine is so stupid and repeatative. But I like the story in some.
Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex I loved. Deathnote was really good watching it the first time. There are others around with twisted stories totally NOT aimed at kids.
If Cowboy Bebop ever attracts these kind of people, we can officially declare hell frozen over. Ed doesn't count.
A faggot in an orange jumpsuit is not a Ninja. I don't care if he restyled his wardrobe in this new shitty slow series they made, Naruto is the most annoying cunt in anime. Believe it!Originally Posted by Beckwin
I watched that video awhile back, it's pretty fucking sad. I consider myself a big anime fan, ive seen a shit ton of anime (http://users.livejournal.com/trixi_/123509.html can add on about 20 series by now), own a good amount of series, and a few figures. But going to Japan, going to conventions, dressing up, seriously trying to speak Japanese from anime, is just fucking silly. Ive gone to two cons ever, once as a guest, and once as security, and my god, there are some fucking wierdos out there, and most of them need to be shot on sight while entering the building/Japan.
Anime is deffinitly not for everyone, my one friend hates the living shit out of it. I like it mostly for the stories, and secondly for the action/comedy. Alot of the stories are the same, ive been able to pick out exactlly what happens next at some points, but there is usually some sort of redeming quality to it. I wish America would embrace anime for what it is, and not kiddy it up like they do with everything. Im glad there are slowly more big screen releases, instead of none a year, theres one or two (but usually only in NY ;-. Princess Mononoke is a good example; when that came state side and kids/parents saw the colorful drawing, thinking it would be a fun cartoon, went to see it and was outraged how violent it was. No shit? the majority of anime isnt for kids, and it would be nice if america could start treating it like that.
I love anime, but I hate the people who cosplay (aside from the 1% of people who do it good), try to speak japanese seriously just because you watch anime, and be so outward with it, stop being so fucking rediculous. You dont see Japanese people over here buying shitloads of simpson toys and dressing up like bart, do you? It's like gay people, I have no damn problem with you being gay, but for fuck sake, if youre one of the the ones who act/try to be super flamey gay in public, I hope someone drop kicks you.
Fuck, no wonder Americans and Japanese laugh at anime people, they all act like 7y/o idiots.

That guy at 2:47 I think it was looks like the guy from the smoking commercials.
People like the ones on the video is why I don't tell people I like animeThere lost of reality is scaring people away from great anime like death note bebop and trigun.
I hate those type of people...
but those type of people usually don't watch anime like this... or at least I would hope they done so they don't ruin it too
