Black ninjas in a make-believe version of Japan(or possibly China, considering the supposed origin of the ninja)... I just don't think that fits.

Nothing was really wrong about his appearance (as seen in the show's opening)

It was just some of the scenes... I can't really explain it since I don't remember it too well.

Anime is sweet, it's a show that actually follows a story unlike most cartoons here in the US. The cartoons here are pretty much 100% Filler. Haha, not saying I don't enjoy Simpsons and the rest, I'm just saying is all.

But whatever, to each his own. I hate sports, and everyone else loves it, whatever.

no, it's not the same. this thread is talking about how people feel about anime and how people feel about otakus, you're going to get both sides.

the Heroes thread is about the characters and the events that happen in each episode, you can discuss each of those however you want, but you can't go in the thread and say everything about it sucks. just as you can't go into one of the football threads and say how much you think football sucks.

That video made me cringe in more ways than one. I've had my experience as an "otaku" and looking back I wish that I never took part of it. I didn't get as bad as some of the more obsessed fans, but I've had moments here and there when I was bought in to listening to J-rock and AMVs, and watching hours of anime in Japanese w/ subtitles not caring if I understood it or not, debating over trivial subjects in games and anime (i.e. couple setups, canon subjects, etc), and even got talked in to cosplay once for an event. I was naive enough to let myself get talked into this fad and got carried away.

When I went to my first convention, I was horrified beyond belief as I looked into what could of been my future, there were so many of them right down to the last stereotype. After that, my interest in anything anime gradually declined. I think that con was my wake up call and I'm glad I stopped before it was too late.

I still dont mind watching the usual bits of anime like Bebop or Fullmetal once in a while when it's on TV, as far as I'm concerned it's just regular programming. My collection days of DVDs are well over though.

Have you watched any american cartoons? Black people are all portrayed the same in most of them. Asian people are always squinty eyed wierdos. It's the same everywhere...
