My point was that, if given a choice between 2-loss ASU (BCS rank #11) and 3-loss Illinois (BCS rank #13), any of the other BCS bowls would likely have taken Arizona State. By the Rose Bowl selecting Illinois, the trickle down effect worked out so that Arizona State got pushed out of the BCS. Had the Rose Bowl picked Kansas, Missouri, or West Virginia (Georgia wasn't an option due to the Sugar Bowl having dibs on them), Arizona State would have made it into the Fiesta Bowl. By the time the "draft order" got to the Fiesta Bowl, they had to take either West Virginia or Hawaii.Originally Posted by Gregorio
Frankly, if the Rose Bowl was willing to pick Kansas, Missouri or West Virginia, we probably would already have a playoff by now.
I think the pick of Illinois is like "if we don't pick Illinois we'll all look like hypocrites"

I'm sorry but i lol'ed when lee corso said OSU was gonna pound LSU the entire game. I don't know if i buy into that SEC speed vs the world arguement but I know SEC teams are way more battle tested than any other college conference which is why they have dominated in bowl games.
Even if you replace LSU with UGA i think it would have still been a blow out, OSU needs a harder schedule if they want to contend against the top SEC teams in the future.

I really hate ohio state lol
TBH with you, Michigan at the Big House, Penn State.. those are pretty challenging games, but KState was more challenged through week 1 than OSU was through like.. Week 6 or 7. It's rediculous at the cupcakes that were scheduled by OSU :/Originally Posted by Plow
They are tough, but tougher this year than Auburn @ Auburn? Especially in your first game of the year, I dunno. Tough call, kinda depends on how you view the big 10 vs the sec I suppose.Originally Posted by Akiyama
Well, being completely honest with you, I'm an Auburn fan, but I said that so someone couldn't say "Well easy for a SEC fan to say" or something. I realize Auburn is tough to play at on the first game of the year, but so is Michigan. (Except this year I guess, lolMI/App State, woops.) Anyway, yeah. I guess KState had it rougher. Dealing with a SEC crowd vs a Big 10 crowd is a totally different thing. Either way, I think we can both agree that OSU had it cupcakey.Originally Posted by Plow
Am I the only one excited to see what an entire offseason and such with their new spread offense will do for them next year? I'm really excited, I dunno why. I'm interested to see how we'll do. Also, I'm arguing with a Big XII fan who thinks the SEC is overrated for having cupcake schedules and easy bowl games, while losing to Michigan and Tennessee barely beating Wisconsin. Yeah. He's a dumbass and I'm about ready to ram my shoe down his throat. (I think he's ticked that Mizzou didn't go to a BCS game, lulz.)
I somewhat agree with the SEC being overrated, but they definitely performed in the bowls.
The next few years are going to get really, really interesting.
KU, OU, USC, all have verrry young, extremely strong teams.
A lot of others like Auburn and KSU, and obviously your Georgias and Floridas etc. have tons of unproven young players with insane potential as well.
OU could quite possibly have the best combination of proven talent and youth looking forward anyone has ever had, and hell USC may even have it better... OSU is always going to be a contender, and with the unpredictability of college football these days who knows who else is going to rear up.
Yeah. OU is gonna be good, KU.. I dunno. Something strikes me as this just being a fairytale season, and USC of course will be good. Auburn (since I'm an AU fan) is one that excites me. A brand new offense that performed quite well against a pretty good Clemson team in it's first test for it's offense. Georgia and FL are both also very young, so they get me ready for next year as well.Originally Posted by Plow
I'm a SEC fan, an AU fan, but I don't hate the other teams just because they beat AU or something. I love watching them all because I love football all together. I'm interested in seeing how Tebow does next year, and Percey Harven, along with Knowshon Moreno and Stafford. Also, I'm interested in seeing how Kodi Burns does for AU, and Fannin. It's just a whole bunch of stuff that has me excited. =P
Also, I don't see how SEC is overrated completely. They're the best conferance this year, and every year, they are always near the top. I'm not saying they are the end all NFL while the other confereances are JV or something, but I mean.. top to bottom, they are pretty damn good. That's all I'll say about that. I'm not a fanboy though and I'll gladly admit when I'm wrong.
Mangino is one of those special guys that comes along and turns a joke of a program into a perennial power, I'm very confident KU is going to continue to be real good for a long time.
Watching KU since a few years before he took over, it's been a thing of beauty really, even though I'm usually cheering against them since I always want K-State to win the big 12 north heh. He's built the team on defense from the start, and the way he started winning games was running the ball, beating teams down, and being able to control the clock late in the game. It really wasn't until this year that he developed a really strong offense (he's been through like 15 quarterbacks in the last 5 years seriously lol), and it outshined what really was a pretty damn good defense.
I'd definitely watch out for KU to keep it up as long as he's there. Even if the offense wanes he'll be able to maintain a national championship caliber defense I'm sure especially after that performance against Arkansas and what that does for recruiting.
