but i do like it when the decorations go up. I have this annual take a picture at the bastok fountain with decorations thing going..

and by putting up decorations i kinda meant into the game where people can see it. I always seemed to remember they had to have a maintenance to get it up.. for some reason..

Is there no news regarding a campaign change? Nothing at all?

The POL site doesn't have anything new yet, but I remember there being a certain part that had the update details first... is there really nothing but a maint going on?

Update notes will normally show up in the Update History section before on the front page, but only for large patches. I am surprised that they have not said what the maintenance is about yet.

Isn't this just another monthly maintenance they do? The one that fixes nothing and possibly creating more problem, they do this at the start of each month, no? They probably found that we just had too many Monday maintenance recently, so they decided to move it to Wednesday.

Off-topic: Who care about religion, the whole reason for Xmas now is to party and enjoy ourselves, I don't believe in any religion, but I still celebrate Xmas("the partying" and "taking presents" parts, I don't do the church thing or the "giving present" part.).

I just have a personal hatred towards kwanzaa because it was made by some pothead hippy in the 60s as a 'black version of chirstmas' and then watch as people QQ about how Kwanzaa deserves mention with the religious holidays that have been around for thousands of years (Christmas). Festivus is cool because it was randomly invented and people believe in it but you don't see people shouting to put Festivus decorations everywhere.

I celebrate Christmas, and I'm not christian and such. To me, it's a time of year when I get to drive to my grandparents' house and get to see all of my relatives, give each other gifts and just spend some time together, there's nothing religious about it for us.

They are probably moving the servers an inch or flipping a tiny switch that does seemingly nothing. It's pretty clear there is a minimum amount of time they need to shut down and reboot the servers. So, yeah, it might seem pointless, but if it prevents Billy-san the intern knocking over and breaking/erasing Kirin, Cactuar, and Fat Chocobo servers because he opened the door to hard, it sounds okay to me. I have no reason to complain about their tech stuff since the servers run great with minimal maintenance.

Oh and you're wrong- kwanzaa is a cross-continental conspiracy to allow people to buy all their Christmas presents during the Day after Christmas sales and yet still have an excuse to prevent them from taking any flack about being a day late.

No, there will be an annoucement before the Starlight (Starbright?) Event starts. And they don't have to do a maint to turn it on, the servers just get told to start the event. If you are on and in the right place when the event starts, you can see the Moogles and decoration spawn like every other mob.
