I don't know if it counts as an RPG, but Crimson Sea. Great style and great game play elements coupled with its RPG elements made it so much fun.

Not really an 'RPG' but Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon was completely underrated and amazing for what was a very wierd game.

The music was win as well.

I really love this game... i started playing them in snes and it was really good, but the one that takes the trophy is the n64 mystical ninja the 1st one the 2nd one was kinda crappy. The robot fights were the best.

    Edit:
forgot to add... dunno if this game is considered underrated but Shadow hearts 1 for ps2 for me was a really good game and i just bought a rpg call mana khemia for ps2 and i love it because its a simple rpg.

I totally agree. Easily one of the best/most emotional stories ever.

Breath of Fire 2. I don't know why I got so attached to that story. I rented that fucking thing from some hole-in-the-wall movie rental shop enough times to pay for my own copy 3 times over. I had called Capcom to get a copy because every game store was sold out. I ended up being put on a waiting list for it by Capcom themselves. Then, the day I beat it, Capcom calls me. I was playing through it again, later on, and I finally saved Ganer in the Grand Church, and started this whole new storyline fork, and I thought I was going to wake up from some stupid videogame-induced dream where I thought the game was going to be different. I was stupidly excited about that discovery. Yay for perfect endings.

lol, I did the pretty much the same thing for SO2. I rented that bad buy so much my Dad actually bought it for me so to save money. It was a good move, cause I must've played it for like 3 months straight.

God I miss being 10 and videogames being the only thing I needed do.

    Yeah, I miss that too

I remember how when I'd get a new RPG, I'd litterally play it non stop until I beat it. The only thing I'd stop to do was eat and sleep - sometimes not even that.

When I got Legend of Legaia I litterally played it for about 16 hours, got some food, then played it for another 10 hours before I finally went to sleep. I didn't always go so overboard with games, but they did always take up much of my free time when I was a kid.

Just beat Breath of Fire 5 today (game kicked my ass when I was younger)
Although it's way different than a conventional DoF game, I thought it was pretty boss
Also, did Gurren Lagann rip off of it or pay homage? Both stories are fairly similar (whole underground > reaching for the sky thing/ character similarities)

Eternal Sonata... I rented it, didn't finish it. Absolutely gorgeous game, but it felt shallow. Actually, it kinda felt like just a pretty Legend of Dragoon, with a par but not excellent story. Not to mention ridiculously easy, without a challenge I don't usually stay hooked.

I hate that game (but I love it too). I was playing it like a month or so ago, near the end of the game (after one of those points of no return) and accidentally used SOL Restore when I died, with a bunch of good shit in my inventory (including a couple Gold XPs). Pissed me off enough to make me stop playing it and I haven't really picked it up since then. Maybe I'll try to pick up the pieces and play again soon :s

And yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just a coincidence about the stories.
