I'm afraid this might be the truth, there's no conceivable scenario that doesn't amount to us or them. Even if we were to pull out of disputed territories, the terrorist groups won't stop and will force us back into their land.

Right, but you seem to assume I have some opinion that I don't have. I do think on the whole it's a pretty unworkable situation and the leaders are mostly self-serving people who side with the Palestinians while hating them. The culture as a whole is set up to hate Isreal (which is how you get such widespread support in the first place). The thing I also realize is that I'm not talking to the culture in general, I'm talking to one person and though I can't change everything, I can at least try to get this one person to realize how bad things are on BOTH sides and how cruelty is perpetrated by both sides, how by now nobody is blameless and how people are innocents on both sides that don't deserve to be brutally killed. I have no solution for the conflict in general but it wouldn't matter if I did. All I can do is spread understanding as much as possible. I personally think that presented properly, and given a moral foundation, understanding could be spread.

Alright, well and good. But do you understand the side of Firas? Do you know at least a few negative things that been forced on them? If you honestly intend to make someone understand the side opposite to them, the first thing you need to do is demostrate that you empathize with them, and relate. That would have worked much better than just stating what everyone knows would be the ideal, but can never be the reality.

The difference is I never assume I understand a person's point of view completely until that person explains it him/herself.

Actually, I'm not sure what the UAE has to do with it aside from wanting to keep the Palestinians out... I'm pretty sure Firas isn't Palestinian though.

I think Kuya's point is in regards to the comment in bold. As laudable as the goal of spreading understanding is, it's a little difficult to actually pull off if you yourself don't understand. Kuya wants to know, do you have an understanding of the situation to the degree that you talk like you have? If not, which 95% of the people in the US don't, your opinions aren't valid, and are just baseless assumptions.

Which is why I've chosen not to comment until now, because I don't know shit about the middle east. Aside from the fact like Iran having nukes makes me very scared.

Have you seriously been bitching at maxx for a full page for suggesting that in order for people to get along it might help if they didn't hate each other?

btw firas wasn't in anything like the holocost and doesn't live in israel/palestine/a place directly affected by it and he pretty clearly still hates him some jews, why can't maxx love him some muslums

Oh boy Maxx, your solutions are so thought out and practical. I am simply in love with your candy ghandi words of friendship.

Excuse me, while i go solve all our problems with the power of heart.
couldn't have said it better, I want peace, hell I think we all do. But Kuya headshotted it, with what he said.
