If you honestly believe that we wouldn't have gone to war in Iraq and Afghanistan during a different president's 8 year term or before 2015, you are solely mistaken. The region was in complete disarray LONG before the current administration took over. There has been mistakes, but you can't honestly tell me you would know if anyone else would have been perfect after 9/11 either. (Not a defense of the administration, just a harsh reality of the situation.)

Now the NIE has come out and currently the security community believes Iran has stopped nuke production for the time being (FYI, THIS IS THE PUBLIC PART OF THE REPORT, THE SECRET PART COULD BE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT) and has possibly opened up the route to some diplomacy.

If you really look at the Middle East situation, there has been many theories over the last 60 years, some of which are still as true today as they were 60 years ago and there are others that have been debunked. It is a very fluid situation that changes quite often, so there will NEVER be a 100% correct option on what to do there to ensure peace.

Suicide bombing is a one time job, bush keeps killing innocent people. Does imply that both kill innocent people, but one is a one time job, and the other is still going. If it is unclear, then that is what i truely meant.

No, the equivalence would be the Christian crazies who blow up abortion clinics in God's name. You're speaking of a very small percentage of the Muslim community, just as the example I gave is a very small percentage of the Christian community. It just so happens that the people who blow stuff up get news time.

Half of the conflict in the Middle East is nationalistic and social rather than religious. Religion makes a good reason to hate the Israelis, but just like any religion, most of the people who spout it aren't as devout as we're led to believe. The majority of the hatred comes from simple nationalism. If a settlement of Chinese peoples came to the US; and with China and the UN's backing, carved out a nation in South Carolina, how do you think Americans would feel? Not only would we be pissed at our homeland being "invaded," you can't deny that every ignorant redneck would be pissed that some slanted eye mofos was in their state. Similar parallels exist in the Israeli conflict. Yes, the Arabs didn't "own" the land, but to penniless peasants, which empire owns the land really isn't as big of a concern for them as it is for us, its still their homeland and they're still going to feel threatened when its taken from them or "invaded" by foreigners.
