Just left Mt. Ordeals turned into a PLD... I think I am going to stop here. Even though I know the story by heart, I really want to wait on the US release.

wow, talk about fast...
Now we just need the text to actually dissapear(emulator bug).
In what way was it "unimproved?"My current opinion of it is meh. Compared to FF3, it has some improvements, but it also unimproved (is that a word? lol) quite a bit. DS limitations I guess? =/
A lot of the text and menus are now 100% translated we are just looking for the rest of the decants and a few menu options. The story will not be done however. It would take to much time.Originally Posted by GSDragoon

I didn't start playing any Final Fantasy until VII came out. Ever since then I bought them up to XII. When the GBA started to release IV, VI, VI, I have been purchasing them respectively. I finished IV and V already and I am still in the process of playing VI. The storyline for IV is one of my favorites. I really enjoyed the story of Cecil the most and the compelling story behind his past, present and future. I think FFIV has to be my favorite FF of all. I still need to play III since it's first release over here in the states was on the DS and I never got a translated version on the net for an emulator. Since this is being re-released on the DS, I see a DS in my near future.
Heh I went FF8>9>7>10>11>10-2>4>6>5>1>2>12>3... yeah it's messed up.
:D That is a tad different. I haven't played FFII yet. I have both FFI and FFII for the PSP and I can't seem to get into them even though it's the beginning of a Fantasy that has been Final for how many years now. 20?Originally Posted by Exoduso
FFVIII has to be tied for first for my favorite. I really did enjoy the love theme of FFVIII.
I have seen the first trailor of FFIX for the DS. I can't check video links at work so I am going to check out the youtube link soon as I get home.
IV you mean? ;x
LOL I did. Thank youOriginally Posted by Exoduso

Can anyone translate the new flashback scenes that occurred after the boss battles in the Giant of Babel?
Seemed pretty interesting. Got to meet KluYa, his wife (Cecilia?), and another brother of Cecil named Theodore. After that there was a shorter flashback where we see Kain, Cecil, and Rosa as kids in Baron.
I totally forgot about this until I saw this thread.
Watched the trailer and finished reading the thread and realized the menus are translated. Fuck waiting for the english version this is going to be toit!
Edit: The site someone linked with the translation(http://ff4.wikidot.com/start) literally has a translation for the DS rom that you can put onto a micro SD card. I'm downloading it all now and when I get back on campus with my PC I'll upload it onto my SD card and test it out. No use waiting, this looks great.
A question for those that are playing the game - did they fix ATB bugs they introduced in the GBA version?
(The ATB bugs showed themselves in various ways - characters would sometimes get consecutive attacks or experience abnormally long delays between actions. Also, certain techniques such as the Berserk spell would also add long delays to your characters actions).
Well it's a complete remake, so probably..?
I haven't noticed anything like that in the DS version. In the GBA version, Cecil and Edge like to attack twice back to back. Other than Tellah being super slow(has been since the SNES version), everything seems ok.Originally Posted by Cymry
Another Q from me.
FF3 suffered from extreme slowness and I just couldn't play it after a while. After each battle the character would 1 by 1 look in the screen and clap, and then show their exp 1 by 1, it was painful, especially since things took forever to load.
Tell me FF4 doesn't suffer from this, because FF4 looks 10 times better.
Nah it's better heh. There's the whole victory look, but after that the screen just shows you everyone's xp like the old PSX FF's did (only without the pictures) and shows you how far they are from the level up, and if they level up it shows you a quick screen of which stats got raised and how much, etc.
I totally suffered through that load, although randomly it'd happened in an advantageous way IE having Cecil attack twice in a row etc...Originally Posted by Cymry
any who....
Glad to see this many people awaiting this game as much as I am. Se has really gone above and beyond with this remake. I'm totally psyched at the ideal of playing FFIV with today's new story telling methods.
Have they even announced this game for the states?
If the English release has some old guy as Tellah saying "You Spoony Bard!" I will be purchasing a DS immediately.
Started playing today and up to the point where Cecil has turned into a paladin. Playing it in full japanese isn't too bad so far, I can understand about half of it, and whatever I don't understand I already know what's happening anyways. The only thing that bugs me is that the time it takes for the ATB bars to fill is fucking long, even on the fastest setting. Also, this doesn't actually bug me, but the boss battles seem WAY harder than I remember; from meeting Yang and on, I've gotten my ass kicked a couple times despite being a little overleveled.
Maybe it's based on the original JP's versions difficulty. I think it was significantly dumbed down when they turned it into FF2 for the SNES. The original was arguably the most difficult FF game ever.Originally Posted by Quixotic
