This is getting way too common. I've had 2 people in the same ls as me with thier accounts jacked in barely over a week. The first managed to get his account back although stripped of all non EX gear.
The second is currently stuck in the red tape and might get the account back in a week. Whether or not they let him take his character out of asura and back where it belongs remains to be seen. Judging from AH sales his character has been severely gutted by rmt.(aka rmt buying him his gear that is either worse than what he owned or he already had to use himself.)
Both claim no involvement in 3rd party tools outside of windower and arent involved in any endgame activities associated with hacking.(aka no fafnir camping)

my friends account just got jacked about 3 weeks ago.

fortunitly it seems as if its not rmt and he had quit about 2 months ago, but i know him outside of ffxi and hes pissed.
i talked to a gm, which they couldnt do anything directly aside from tell me to have the original owner call SE and ask for assistance using the Special Task Force. The gm said the STF can lock accounts while under investigation for account fraud etc (dont know how much it will help u since the gear appears to be already stripped)
He played on PC, but had dropped it when it was released on the 360, no 3rd party tools, no windower, nothing.
The guy whos on the char now is a dbag and wont give anyone any info on how he got the char aside for the fact that it was stringed throughout multiple ppl and he wasnt the first who had it after my friend stopped playing.
Ive been playing for over 3 years and now seeing accounts getting jacked when not even on pc is fucked up. He said he hadnt given his account info to anyone either, which makes it lead into an even stranger direction.

He is giving SE a call tomorrow and gonna see how it goes, but i reccommend u try and continue to give SE calls and talk to different people. Ive talked to some dumbasses there as well as some nice intellegent people.

Man, that's a pretty horrible story. You've paid hard-earned money to work your way up in this game over four years and SE dicks you over like that. I've only been playing for around two and a half years, and if the same thing happened to me, I would tell them they can take my account and shove it up their ass. Then go find another game to play.

A part of me wants to do this. But meh... I can't let go of a character with just about every expansion pack cleared and a few capped jobs. (Was going for Maat's Cap.)

Kind of funny you mentioned that. One of the SE representatives asked if I had logged onto the Linkshell Community recently. Ugh.

This is heapening a lot lately, heapened to a friend of mine but he could change the password first after fighting with the hacker for about 1hr. As long as SE give the RTM the advantage of the credit card thing, they will work 24/7 on trying to do this kind of stuff.

This might not be related but i think it should be considered. I'm from NYC and have friends who work for the cable company, most of them speak of fellow employees who go against company policy and sell extra service on the side for that dollar bill. I might be reaching but i'm thinking a rogue employee who might somehow have access to information that would enable RMT to steal active or inactive accounts. There is a lot of money to be made and we know the power money have over protocol. 8)

When you get their manager if he isn't more helpful tell him you will be contacting your credit card company and working with them to be reverse whatever charges are possible historically.

Just find it rather amusing, I know 3 people who've gotten there accounts back after being jacked.

All who's passwords and CC's had been changed. And all they did was continue to call SE. Finally, the last time they called (after multiple times, at least 10-15) they froze the account, and within 24hours was back in the rightful owners hands. As for the gear they may have dropped/stripped.... They didn't have that happen to them.

LOL. Funny part is, my best friend had hers jacked, and when she got it back they had switched servers changed her name, and lvl'd her bard to lvl 75. lol....

Most of the time, I chalk this stuff up to insecure passwords that can be brute forced easily.

Pass has been 8 letters forever, it had a name + numbers.... kinda hard to figure out.

Anyway, I'm headed over to the police station in about 2 hours and filling out an online theft report as well as obtaining a subpeona from the state atourney. They will call up SE and make them hand over my shit as well as restore my gil and stolen items, or this is going to court. (As said by the representative, he said SE will restore all my things if I can obtain a subpeona.)
