Personally, when my bank mule was "hacked" for my last LS while I was moving across the country, I contacted a GM about it. (Yes, the account was known to multiple people, and I've already considered it was an inside job, but no one fessed up to it, etc). Anyway, the GM told me they had the capability to go through logs, find out who did it, and get that person banned. But, they wouldn't be able to tell me -who- the person was, or any word about the equipment/gil that was lost, but they do have logs for all of that stuff. They just needed a specific time, and I was not even remotely accessible to FFXI for a week or two, so that didn't help.

You have exact times. That should help. Just approach them calmly and definitely not angrily.

Also, if you contact SE's customer service, personally, I would say "Well, if I'm not the owner of this account, I want my past 4 years of payment using X credit card refunded, because those would then be fraudulent charges since you are saying that I can't confirm I'm the owner of the account."

See what they say to that, and then if you still get no leeway, ask to talk to a manager. If still no leeway, ask for their manager (and so on).

This sort of practice is absolutely unacceptable. The ONLY thing this protects is the people who buy accounts and people who steal accounts: Both of which are against the ToS.

This is completely unacceptable on SEs part that someone can merely change credit card information then run off to another server in record time....

Customer Service is completely difficult to work with and talking to them always makes you feel like the criminal instead of the person thats the victim of their easily traversed password system.

Jeny hasnt used the Linkshell Community, but them asking about it leads me to believe that they know it isnt safe and are just skirting the issue. (hey, whats a few lost accounts to SE if they are still getting paid in the end eh?)

I'd tell everyone to avoid the Linkshell community, i dont know exactly where or what - but theres some kinda leak in SEs security of accounts and personal data.

This person is playing SE, leaving me and jeny to clean up the mess, now they have jumped to another server im sure SE will tell me now we have to wait 89 days and pay the 20$ to go back.

Actually, I was quite serious about this suggestion, and it would mean a loss of upwards of $600 for SE. Not much, really, but a lot if everyone that has their account jacked pushes and pushes until the refund happens.

Also, I would remind them that these "Current credit card numbers are needed, even though we can see you have absolutely everything valid from before the jacking" rules that they have only protect people who buy accounts (which is against the ToS) and people who steal accounts. It in, absolutely no way, not even close, protects the legitimate owners of said accounts...

If websense wasn't on this network, I'd write a suggestion/comment to SE about this issue. It sickens me that they just sit on their hands doing nothing while innocent people are kicked in the figurative nut sack all the time right in front of them. They can see who did it. They can see exactly where all the equipment and gil is going. Yet they say "well, you must've been careless somewhere along the line" and do nothing... I hope the SE Rep sees this topic and reports the grand failure that is the password protection feature they have in place currently.

imo, ban the MF who did this and his credit card, RETURN THE EQUIPMENT AND GIL AND CHARACTER (God, I can't emphasize that enough, and it would be very, very easy to track where it all went...), and give this poor girl, at the very least, a free month of playtime with her character for having horrible customer service... Oh, and world transfer her back, ffs...

This time i got a really rude rep, who told me basically that i could be anybody that is calling to milk some free information, didnt hesistate to throw the legal mumbo-jumbo of 'you dont own anything' and 'your merely leasing the account' when i probed into various actions to be taken - 'we arent going to do anything, your a victim of an online crime and need to contact your law enforcement'. When i responded with the police saying they cant do anything if no actual money was stolen - 'well thats between you and the police, i cant help what they say to you.'

The customer is always wrong, i guess.

Take heed anyone who praises SE for anything, call up the support center and see what they really care about.

the proper amount of leverage applied by a lawyertype will get them to forgo that charge and waiting period once the account is back in your hands. If not consider it a good time to get yourself leveled up on a job you wouldnt normally have time for and maybe hit up some of the local salvage groups.

Look at it this way, if you are stuck on a server for three months but you get your shit back, at least its not remora or fairy ^^

Never ever talk to these type of reps, get their numbers and use it against them, you will get your shit back, its just going to take some annoying work on your part. This is probably the coolest start to retribution I have heard of someone doing for this type of thing. If everything works out, and you get everything back, this should be a perfect example of what to do when an account gets jacked.

Also, make sure all of your information on the account is valid and current... I think I still need to update my info to make it current, come to think of it. >< (Still listing my Dad's address from a few years ago when I got the game...)

I'm extremely interested to see where this goes. Justice shall prevail!
