My HDMI cable order arrived yesterday in the mail. Best thing was that it was completely free, no tax, no shipping. It was on sale on Buy.com for $10.00 free shipping, and with google checkout, you get a $10 credit on your account. So it came out to $0.00 :D

I don't see it anymore on the site though, XtremeHD 2 meter long HDMI cable. I got my other from newegg for ~$10 works fine with my 360.

If you're just getting 1080i then it really doesn't fucking matter, that 27 cent cable would work just fine imo. But if you really want like the best cable then I would recommend http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ ... 1&format=2

you can up the size if you need but those are gold plated, good insulation, ver 1.3, and high quality. You don't need anything else.

Strangely I just bought 2 pairs of HDMI cable from Monoprice, about 4 days ago, the cables got here the next day which was fn weird....it came Cali > NYC, I didnt ask for overnight/next day delivery...

I got 2 6' HDMI cables 1.3a edition for 7 dollars each, came to a total of 20 with S/H included

Got 1 green/1 yellow colored cables, blue was out of stock (would have gone nicely with the PS3)

The signal makes a huge difference

I know some say 720p and 1080p dont have that much of a difference, but there are, some 1080p pictures look meh on 720p standard..but I DL some 1080p pics... and put them on my PS3...Holy Fuck that shit was clearer than a fucking crystal

Use monoprice for sure, they have the best rates. And like everyone else has said, you dont need the most expensive cable for HDMI, however you dont want the cheapest.

Yes HDMI is digital, its just 1's and 0's and no matter how good a cable is, it cant make those 1s and 0s any more sparkley, however there is still room for error. Though a better cable cant make the picture or sound better, it can ensure those 1s and 0s get to and from the source.

Really cheap cables have a high loss rate, which means skipping frames, bad audio and bad color. You dont want 1s and 0s leeking out everywhere, and depending on where you place the cable can effect it too. If it's close to other cables, electical lines or heating vents, that can effect it too. The length of the run effects it as well. The longer the cable, the better chance those 1s and 0s get lost, and if the cable is ran in walls next to electric cables, or even outside walls next to others, it has a chance to scramble those 1s and 0s.

Bottom line is, if your run is less then 10ft, and not going to be near any other cable, screw it, get some cheap pos. If you running it in a wall for a long distance, you still dont have to get the best, but you better make sure it's of a higher grade.

Get the cheapest one you can......as everyone has pretty much stated above. All of these cables are made in China, by any of the 3 or 4 Factories over there. You're basically buying the exact same thing.

Monster Cable is so expensive b/c of the Name, and b/c they don't use Asian manufacturers for HDMI.

Get the cheapest if it's a run under 20 FT. Also, I would spring for the better shielded cables only if you were installing it in an area with a ridiculous amount of electrical interference. To put the kind of interference I'm talking about into perspective, I have 2 300 Gallon fish tanks withing 30 feet of the television. Between the lighting and other equipment it takes to run this stuff ends up running me close to $250.00 on my electric bill, none of it affects my cheap $10.00 HDMI cable at all.

For most people, I'll agree MonoPrice is the best for cheap working cables.

However, if you want quality, decent prices, and full specifications (ex. series1spec.pdf) I highly recommend Blue Jeans Cable. They also have tons of informative articles for the curious.

The longest cable we have ever seen a compliance test certificate for is our own Series-1, which passed ATC testing at 45 feet under HDMI 1.3a (CTS 1.3b1); apart from that, the longest we've seen, after seeking these from all of the many vendors who try to sell us HDMI cable, are some 40-foot certificates issued under HDMI Version 1.2, which was a somewhat easier test to pass because of changes to the test protocols which came into effect with 1.3.

Here's their compliance testing certificate. They're the real deal and blow Monster Cable out of the water.
