Regarding Azima (S).

The items I tried to trade were: Brilliant Snow, Muttepo, Potion tank, Potion, Potion+1, Vision Ring, Mighty Ring, signed Love Chocolate, Goblin doll and none worked.
My initial idea was that Azima is also associated with the Azimuth Circle event so perhaps trading fireworks from the Yukata (I don't actually have the Yukata).
After realising the Muttepo wasn't npc'able (as it can affect things sometimes), I thought perhaps one of the crafted ones might work (I didn't register that Gobo had already tried this before).
The line about "Alchemy is like magic that gives you a gift when you are finished", made me think of the potion tank (again didn't register this was tried).
I tried the enchanted items 'cause I make em.
Dolls are also associated with the Azimuth Circle events so decided to try Goblin Doll (I still want to try the one that drops from Orc Beastriders/Nightraiders in Battalia).

Personally I still think the key is to trade her something because of the line in the dats (posted earlier) :
"Are you trying to flatter me with your gifts? Well I must say... you're doing quite a good job."
The only other idea I have is perhaps you might need to team up and check a ??? to get something, like in the Azimuth Circle events, or something along those lines.

She hauls in tow a coarse, flaxen sack containing her sometimes charred (or occasionally frozen) quarry, to be turned in and the bounty on their heads collected.

Try a http://wiki.bluegartr.com/Giant_Frozen_Head maybe? Long shot especially considering it's a drop from Dynamis but who knows. Hopefully the text will give a better hint on how to recruit her though.

This information about Azima's background has me thinking that the alchemist mentality may be the wrong approach. She does state to high level alchemists that she is just starting alchemy, so it's hard to flatter her about her non-skills.

Perhaps the thoughts we should follow now are: what can you offer to flatter a Black Mage Bounty Hunter who is beginning to study Alchemy?

"Are you trying to flatter me with your gifts? Well I must say... you're doing quite a good job."

Still falling under speculation whether this line actually belongs to Azima or not. If it does, we have to consider what we are flattering her about - Black Mage? Bounty Hunter? Amateur Alchemy? Her love of the Arcane? The article gives her the title "Arcanist" perhaps consider all the types of Arcana items available - Magic Pot Shards, Doll Shards, Golem Shards, bomb items have shown not to work, weapons drop nothing...

It stands to reason that the item that recruits her could be something with somewhat ready access. Kagetora was shurikens (available cheap from the Tenshodo guild shop). Babban was Distilled Water (various sources in each town). Duskraven's 500 gil price per trade gives us a price region to shoot for. She has shown unresponsive to white mage scrolls (in reference to the Teleport-Dem, Sneak, and Invisible scrolls tried).

Then... there's always the thought that she actually is acquired by the alchemist speech method, in which case someone with high alchemy would need to talk to her within the regions of 40-70-100 times in one week and see if she gets recruited the next tally.

One thing that would help would be a dat mining list of of conversations in north gustaberg (s) and bastok markets (s) that match the freelance related texts...

All of these were tried at night time except the skull, and got no response, if that makes any difference. When I talk to her, she still gives the "oh you appear quite versed...." and then about whatever zone she's trying to get into.

Also tried checking various ??? in the zone and got nothing from them (only checked a few. There may be others around I haven't seen).

Edit 3: I don't know what she's supposed to do. I pulled Herohunter over by them and they didn't assist me. I took some damage to see if they would cure me, and they didn't. Dumbfounded, I stood there and died and they didn't even raise me lol

Odds are they only attack if the building is attacked or if they themselves are. Pixies are defensive and supportive by nature, so I'm betting they regen Fortification faster, directly cure it, or at least defend it when it's attacked.

San d'Oria on Bahamut has this option (and a new freelance, so I guess I know who now!) but for the life of me, I didn't check the two times I home pointed with Sigil on, whoops. I'll try it out sometime later though.

Found. (D-13) Off the map. She is in a cave along the west wall in D-13. Shes a brd (she wears Manteel and some badass looking sword). Shes /healing and says the following lines:

"They are truly worthy of great praise, the people I have come to see in my time here. With their industrious and dedication they will slay countless beastmen. Even more than myself."

second time talking nets this:

"I'm just a little tired, is all. I do not require your concern"

and repeats that.

Ideas: probably talk to her as brd. maybe something that gives energy? Potion? Hi-Potion?

He is at (H-11) in East Ron (right in front of the zone to KRT). He is a DRG and when spoken to only says this repeatedly:

Use of the word "darling" hints at a female. Taru/mithra text usually have their signature talk patterns in them (taru saying -waru etc). Can anyone think of any prominent Elvaan/hume female mages.

These are the new names listed within the list of campaign freelance NPC's in dats. If you look at the text Rocl posted you can make a general match to who goes with what:

Poroggo Servent - West Sarutabaruta, can be at either one of the two Horo Ruins towers. Takes Lufaise Flies.
Raigegue R d'Oraguille - Confusing because this was a king of Sandoria that lived in 687 according to the story, so he should be pretty damn dead by this time in the game. He's listed in Eldieme Necropolis S but I looked and was unable to find him. A new friar NPC there, Heptachiond, wants incense from his friend in Fort K.N. for a grave. Maybe this is how you can enlist the zombie sandy king.
Rikoh Wahcondalo - Some relative of that mithra khazam chief I guess. No idea where NPC would be.
Degenhard - The old hume Maat look alike in bastok markets. You give him a bone chip for a dangruf map, so maybe he would want those to recruit. No idea where he'd be.
Rongo-Nango - Dats show them in Fort K.N. Theyre also listed to hang out in the city once recruited so they are definately not an assistant to another freelance.
