Gigas are mercenaries, they've been in the employ of humans before. There were some on the bastokan side in the second battle of konschtat.

Posting a pic of Areuhat because it has a cool unique looking face model that would make dat modders spit out their own stale pokki.

Hmph, most novel. The inventiveness of your kind will never cease to amaze me.

It has been ages since the races of Vana'diel began to worship the line of the wyrms.
But you, adventurer, seem to be...different, somehow.
Know this. That those who pay proper homage to the wyrms will not go unrewarded.

I went back to her today with a potion and a hi-potion. She accepted both (I traded the potion while a friend traded the hi pot) with the following lines:

"It has been ages since the races of Vana'diel began to worship the line of the wyrms.
But you, adventurer, seem to be...different, somehow.
Know this. That those who pay proper homage to the wyrms will not go unrewarded."

i did not however get the other lines in the quote. The fact she took both kinds of potions leads me to believe she might accept all kinds of potions (potion+1, hi pot+1, etc.)

As for the DRG, i went to him as well while DRG (no pet and with pet) and got the following text:

"Are you....a dragoon?! That is a most welcome relief. I had to come and ascertain for myself whether or not there are still those to carry on the ways of our kind."

I laughed. Even the NPCs know ppl dont want to be DRGs lol

Are there anymore lines in the .dats in East Ron for the DRG or are those the only lines? If so, I think its safe to say that

Achtelle = talk to as DRG
    Areuhat = potions

I talked to Achtelle on DRG and first she said:

"Are you... a Dragoon? That us a most wecome relief. I had come to ascertain for myself whether or not there are still those who carry on the ways of our kind."

I used Ancient Circle and talked to her again and got:

"It is said the tomb of King Ranperre lies beyond here. The legend himself, said to have broken the mighty Vrtra. I wished to pay my respects."

I'm gonna head to Rabao and change my title to Vrtra Vanquisher and see if it does anything.

Re: Freelancer NPCs? Where are you!?

I looked them all over again and here is what seems like the most likely arrangement to me.

Degenhard: The old hume man from Bastok Markets. I think he is just a new assistant NPC to Maat. They look the same at least and I have no idea where he'd be if he were a stand alone Freelance.

Rikoh Wahcondalo: Maybe an assistant NPC to Kagetora? I'm not sure what to think of this one.

Areuhat: Located in a cave at D-13 of Grauberg. Takes Potions for influence. When recruited can change into a wyrm/dragon named Odzmanouk.

Poroggo Prince: Influenced by trading Lufaise Fly's to the Poroggo Servent NPC that can be at either one of two West Sarutabarua S towers. Assisted by 3 Poroggo Servents.

Achtelle: Located near King Ranperre's Tomb in East Ronfaure S. Influenced by speaking to them as a DRG. Can call a wyvern named Bravo.

Eurytos: Only idea is the Stripped Carcass listed in Vunkerls dats. I checked the entire zone today and couldn't find it, so no idea. Accompanied by 2 Gigas Mercenary in campaign.

Boodlix: Is the head of the merchants gobs in the past all go to. If it exists in the game as an NPC i dont know where. I tried trading the new gob in bastok gob chocolate like he wants in the story but did not work. Assisted by 3 Goblin Lansquenet.

Raigegue R d'Oraguille: Name is listed in Eldieme S dats. I checked the entire zone and wasn't able to find it. Not sure how to influence it or what the target is. Assisted by 4 Ancient Royal Knight.

Rango-Nango: Located at H-5 of Fort K.N. Seems like she's the outcast daugher of Lango-Nango who iirc was a BST who was banished from windy or something. She seems to have gone crazy from isolation and has made up an imaginary friend. Once recruited she seems to have 5 other characters (pets, or real, or spit personalities idk) that assist her. Larren, jajaro, Popochu, Papako, Momowa, and Alfons. Tried trading some pet foods, didn't work. Her text is as useless as Azima's so i'll post it in case anyone has a clue:

Ahhh, so you're fighting for ?Multiple Choice (Parameter 0)?[San d'Oria/Bastok/Windurst], are you?
Hmmm, that doesn't sound half bad, actually.
I suppose I could be persuaded to lend my services.

If I'm going to be laying my life on the line, I may as well side with a dependable ally.
    Makes sense, wouldn't you say?

I wonder where the winds of battle will carry me next...

    Huh!? Wha--!? Whe--!?
I'm sorry, I haven't had a person speak to me in so long.
    You caughtaru me at unawares.

    Awww, you reek of parchmentaru...
You must be from Windurst. Please, get away!
My father told me never to trust a Windurstian.

Hm? Y-you want me to help you?
I guess I could do that... But you have to promise me one thing.
That you won't tease my friend, here. Got itaru?

    Thank you...
That should make my friend happy-wappy.

By the way, do you know the origin of this name, “Lungo-Nango”?
It comes from the hero who carried Windurst to her greatest glory.

Degenhard is easily checakable. just find a zone with maat campaigning and take a look. Same thing with the other that might assist Kagetora. I havent campaigned in a while so I havent been able to see for sure.

Is there any other lines in the .dats to would contradict the "talk as DRG" method?

As far as the others go, I'll do my best to try to figure them out when I get some more free time. I do have one question though. What ever happened to Oggbi? I was thinking about this today and it seems he is the last one that hasnt been found from the old freelances. I thought that he might be in one of the beastmen strongholds only for this reason.

SE likes to put things in zones that arent accessable yet but will become eventually. I think they even put in the SCH testimony quest in Xarcabard [S] which we all know is not accessable atm but the quest is still in the .dats. And they usually add something unaccessable then make it accessable on the next update. They have done this with a few quests in the past as well.

So in theory, they could have added Oggbi at WoG release but had him in a beastman base and he is only now accessable. Same thing could be with any of the other NPCs that cant be found. They could be hanging out in Xarcabard or something. Already in the .dats but not accessable. Is there any zone that currently has Oggbi somewhere in the .dats?

Azima still pisses me off that shes not found out yet. Ive traded a ton of things to her and got nothing. The pixie one was shown as being recruited but is it 100% confirmed the bottled pixie method?

Is Areuhat in the cave 24/7?

I've been camping all 3 nations with friends because we could not find her in cave. We've been running around with widescan for just over an hour and no pops...

Should we check cave again? Anyone know POS of her in any nation?

It could be a "???" On a Tombstone somewhere in Eldieme... is there a ??? that wasnt there before? Maybe an existing ???... Or maybe he only appears under certain conditions... Campaign, or like Lamia #w/e where it only appears when someone dies within the right area.

Im thinking it might be a Tombstone, also did you check the other entrances in Batallia downs? He might be in the lower levels... i'll be sure to check it tonight also

Couldnt he be influenced quite simply by Buying items from the Goblins in the main cities? Seems very likely

I can't check because no one on this server has recruited maat and I don't want to recruit him because it's a horrendous pain. But someone told me the other day some nation does have Maat so I'm going to check it.

I can't know for sure, but theres several lines that refer to a wyrm deity in Grauberg that can change into a person. For instance Achtelle has a line "Also, I have heard rumors of a wyrm which inhabits Grauberg. A wyrm which can take on the form of a person..."

And mystery dude has his line "The village elder in La Vaule told me of the so-called wyrm deity of Grauberg.
Of course, I am sure it is nothing more than folktales. Still, my curiosity is piqued..."

Areuhat fits this, and if you think about it it seems like she has just woken up and was found in that tunnel when miners uncovered her which is why she needs potions to recover her strength. Also if you google Odzmanouk this is a myth of a person born who transformed into a dragon.

No, it seems like the standard like just like Rainemard and Dalzakk. I'm confident enough to spend my own nerdly time spamming them.

It seems like he's an assistant to Dalzakk. According to the dat list anyway. I don't understand why freelances gain assistants is the thing. Duskraven runs around with all his posse, but very few others have all the assistants listed in dats. Chou Moui for instance has chigoes also but Ive still never seen them. I don't know what determines them, probably a nations funding, or maybe players influencing them while theyre allied. I haven't continued to influence them, I just try to ally them and let them rot.

Anyways, I tried trading some things to Rongo thinking maybe the "friend" is some kind of beast pet. I tried; Dragon Bone, Chicken Bone, Bone Chip, Giant Femur, Smilodon Liver, Hare Meat, Giant Sheep Meat, Sheep Jerky, Juicy Mutton, Galkan Sausage, and Dhalmel Steak none work.

    Edit:

As a brilliant move by SE freelance NPC's, who are not even allied, despawn during a campaign. So check if one is happening.

    She can spawn at one of any 3 caves in the south and also it SKYREND -_-;;;

She respawns to a new cave every time campaign battle commences then ends I think... We can't seem to find her during campaign battles.

Freelances who aren't "claimed" disappear during Campaign Battles

Re: Freelancer NPCs? Where are you!?

Rongo-Nango is influenced by trading beast pet jugs.

I tried trading flowers to the Gravestone in Eldieme for Raigegue but doesn't work. Also tried fishing a little in Vunkerl with the carbon pole awarded after the latest sandoria mission to see if the Stripped Carcass is fished up. Campaign started after a few tries though and I didn't continue. The confusing thing is I don't see any text at all in Eldieme or Vunkerl dats that seems like it would be related to recruiting a freelance NPC.

So Rikoh Wahcondalo, Raigegue R d'Oraguille, Boodlix, and Eurytos are still unknown.

Kagetora fought valiantly for San d'Oria from December 9th till March 16th, but he has left the building. It looks like he wasn't recruited by another nation, but I haven't checked in detail yet >_>

Titania is no longer with Bastok on Pandemonium either. I just went to get Sigil and we no longer have Decreased EXP loss option, which kinda sucks because I procrastinated testing the reduction, sorry about that. Before today we also had the Babban Ny Mheillea and Ulla/Kilhwch, but I haven't checked yet to see if they bailed as well.
