Freelancer NPCs? Where are you!?

Bastok has Dalzakk this week on my server.

He showed up in rolanberry with the grenadiers. He uses a single knuckle, not a pair like normal monks do. All he does is One Inch Punch, for around 300-520 dmg, wait 20 seconds or so, OIP again etc etc. Spams "Hiiiii-yah!" too. He never got beat up enough to summon Oggbi so I didn't get to see that; but Dalzakk himself is pretty weaksauce.

Hopefully Gwynplaine or someone else as crazy as me about Freelances well help me out here;

This Campaign tally Bastok received a Freelance previously unallied with any nation (ever) on Bahamut: Duskraven

Since I had never seen him before in a town before, I went off and talked to him and immediately got a different response

"It may hap the secrets I lie with the crimson lion..." So this means I'm technically recruiting (or stealing) him? Before, he would only accept gil and say "I have heard rumor that the lord of the beastmen sits upon an hoary throne in the frozen north. Do you believe he would entertain a raven?"

Since he's close to the zone, I tested out trading him 500 gil, and he gives me the speech about the Shadow Lord still. But if I ever talk to him without trading him gil, he gives me the crimson lion text. I have no idea what this could mean.

Most freelances have 3 speeches in the DATs;

Their normal dialogue "Sup dude"
Their +1 dialogue "Ah, thanks, I needed this!"

and, what I thought was their "joining your nation" dialogue. "Ah yeah I'll work for San d'Oria"

I've never seen "Join dialogue" before, has anyone else?

Another oddity I found was that Boodlix + Goblin Lansquents randomly went randomly passive near the end of a Campaign Battle, like people and NPCs ran by them with no problem. However, about 30 seconds later the NPCs started attacking them.

It also appears that that Boodlix doesn't link with the Lansquents but the Lansquents link with him

I saw that too last week about Duskraven and his different speeches which I found odd too. And I am too also quite curious about the "joining" text. I'm almost sure I'm the only one from Windurst going for certain freelances but have never gotten the join text even though come tally, they do join up.

Another thing I've wondered is what causes them to get up and leave, so to speak, after tally and become unallied. Before that last update we never lost freelances unless they were taken by another nation, but the last couple weeks some have gone back into unallied mode sitting in the field again. It's just odd that we held on to npc's for months, then they just up and leave now.

I believe them going back to "neutral" state comes from people attempting to steal them from another nation, and failing. San d'Oria had Kagetora FOREVER, then he randomly went unallied, and showed up in Windurst next tally.

I believe this happened before the Freelance update, but it could've been after (I posted it somewhere in this thread). If it's afterwards, we can chalk it up to a change in behaviour from the update.

Also, I think all, or at least part of a Freelances influence gets reset after Retally, it's the only explanation for why so many Freelances with known influences still haven't been obtained.

Happened on my server twice. I was only present for it once. My only guess is that it happens when she gets silenced. She does the /say cue, tries to cast a spell, finds she can't, and tries again.

yea.. i figured as much after some thought..
in this case she wasnt silenced (seriously tho, if shes silenced why can she /say ?)

Could it be she was petrified instead of silenced? I doubt they included something to make her stop trying to cast while silenced/petrified/sleep etc.

Some info about Ulla & Kilhwch that I haven't seen before:

KILL ULLA.

When Ulla dies Kilhwch "flips the fuck out", I'm not there, but Kuno said she died in Eldieme and he did the dust cloud animation after saying

"How dare you!"

Then he goes completely invincible to all forms of damage and spams Knights of the Round for 2000 dmg. Much better than her ordering him to cast Silence on everything imo.

Don't separate them though, as then Kilhwch will just go dormant and just stop doing anything. (Donno what happens if she dies when she's out of range)

Yeah, those are the Beastmen versions of the Physician NPCs.

I'd like to see that, he's a beast of a pld. Never really takes much dmg and just heals himself back up. Ulla gets beat up alot and if shes too far from him (not like.. out of casting range but just a little bit away) he won't heal her.
