JP timezone has the advantage here because of the timing of the campaign tally which is why I've been influencing the npcs 1-2 hrs before the tally. Though if you have persistent competition it might be a bit hard to convert the npcs =/

I did notice a few things when I've been doing this: Ulla, Kagetora and Lewenhart "seem" to be influenced by normal chat because sometimes I accidentally trigger chat instead of my trade macro and once that happens, I can't trade them anything. I know there's something significant about it because when I do that with Areuhat, she ends up taking my shell bug anyways.

Hm? That's odd. Usually if you talk to a Freelance before trading they won't accept it. It counts as "denied service", as in you have to zone to trade them. (You would get the same thing for trading them the wrong item) So, while it fits for Ulla/Kage/Lewenhart it's very odd that Areuhat still accepts Shell Bugs after you talk to her.

Perhaps this is unique to "tier 2" influences? Well, I can't be sure of that since it is possible to influence Kagetora simply by being Bastokan (though I'm not sure how, a friend of mine both Bastokan in the present and past once got a bit of text asking about Ensetsu, which I assumed was some bit of favour towards Bastok- but it could be flavour text like trading him zinc ore), and if Shurikens were a tier 2 influence then I would've been able to trade a lot more to him back in the day. I find it unlikely the Bastokan bit is a tier2 as well, since it is very uncommon a simple speaking is worth more than items. Then again there is Achtelle so... (Whom I'm fairly certain is influenced more by talking to Dragoons than Dragon Chronicles)

Regardlesssssssssssssssssssssssssss it makes sense that Ulla & co don't accept your offers. They should not be influenced in any particular way (I think), but the thing about Areuhat is interesting.

Another more interesting fact is that sometimes YOU can influence NPCs just by talking to them. I don't know what causes, but one day I tried to swindle Bastok out of Duskraven, and accidentally talked to him. He responded with "Perhaps the secrets I seek lie with the crimson lion.." or some jazz, a far cry from his normal "otherworldly appearance" spiel he normally says. However, the ability to influence him this way was short lived, I did it a few times Saturday Night, and before tally on Sunday I had to go back to trading him gil. This was pre-Scholar, and we failed so I can only assume that text comes from being on the verge of leaving/switching and someone re-fortified their claim on him for Bastok. If I remember correctly, almost every NPC has a bit of text remarking about your nation and rendering services for it.

I think people are still wondering what causes Areuhat to change into wyrm form and according to the scholar taru, she changes when the heroism gauge is high. The heroism gauge is the bar under the area when you do /cmap. The bar supposedly indicates how often campaign will take place in that area and determines whether Areuhat changes form or not, though I'm not sure how high it has to be.

Really? Which interview was that? She should be flying non-stop on Bahamut then! I trade her Shell Bugs all the time

Oops, I forgot to mention it's not possible to trade Areuhat during a campaign.. so I'm not sure what they meant.

If it's true, it probably means the more shell bugs you feed her, the lower the heroism gauge has to be before she'll transform/fly.

Her wyrm corpse has been in Fort K.N. for a few weeks, that's all I've seen of her.

I don't always get to witness what the freelancers do but first time today I see that Rainemard's Ice spikes and en-spells do about 400 lol

Bastok had Ferrorious (or w/e) Coffin today for the first time, the galka whm. He's a pretty handly little curebot. His delay between cures is much shorter than other healer npc/pixies.

Not to mention his handy JA (or is that a spell? looks more like a JA to me) that removes weakness.

So, I've traded 2-3 stacks of shellbugs after the tally and at 90% heroism guage in Garlaige.. Areuhat didn't change to Faf. I dunno if it's the area or not

Today in grauberg for the first time, a galka with an axe, just like the ones that protect rolanberry showed up. it had a green name and was called "Reinforcement". It just ran up to the tag npc and did nothing. Anyone know about these?

Is that what it's for? I've done near 300k A.N. worth of campaign and it's the first i've seen it. Shiva blows.

Apparently freelancers go independent if their influence is only at "most probably" o.o

On our server, Bastok lost both of their remaining freelancers this week and since Titania is only at "most probably" in terms of Windurst influence and Rongo-Nango was at "most probably" in terms of staying with Bastok.

Both of them went independent and Rongo-Nango is actually at H-5 of Fort-K and not E-11. I still can't figure out how to influence him though.
