Freelancer NPCs? Where are you!?

Explain to me why Elvira and the Anhilator NPC (who I dont even know the name of) both have Anhilator.

Explain to me why Cerane I Virgaut and Perseus both have Aegis.

That'd put Relic gear at the same production levels as "elite" stuff like Hydra Corps armor (AF2), which isn't unreasonable considering where and how it's rebuilt.

Ive been trying to recruite rainemard. first i tried money. 100,000 gil, no go. then i switched job to rdm, wearing full af (including fencing degen) changed title to paragon of rdm exellence, still cant. i used chainspell, talked to him again, still no. i tried trading all af including weapon, no go.

edit: campaign in jugner now but im going to try refresh scroll.

Sounds crazy but does anybody have low level scrolls or swords laying around? Maybe that's the ticket for ole Rainemard

stuff i can think off:

- Red Mage Testimony
- Davoi Coffer / Chest Key and Orcish Storage Key (since he talks about La Vaulle, maybe if you show that Orcs still occupy Davoi in the future, he's willing to help)
- Performing Savage Blade on nearby mobs
- Dynamis Currency (Ordelle Pieces). Gil hasnt been accepted as international currency yet.

Talked to Maat on top of Zegham Hill in North Gustaberg [S] while wearing his cap and he said;

Maat: I bet a young whippersnapper like yourself thinks she's got what it takes to rough up a beastman or two, eh? From what I see, you still have a few more mountains to climb, missy!"

Then when I clicked a second time;

Maat: Heh heh heh. A lot of young brawlers making names for themselves in this time of war. Maybe it's time I got back out on the battlefield myself!

He depopped about 5 min later while I was typing this.

Maybe we just need to wait for the next conquest tally before they decide to help a nation. (For the ones that actually accepted stuff at least).

After that they might just act like the other Campaign NPCs and return to their normal spawn position while not fighting, giving a chance for other nations to recruit them.

This would strike me as a reasonable system. I mentioned earlier that perhaps you had to keep trading them items until they reached a certain amount, and then they'd help whichever nation provided them with the most items. Basing it on tally would probably be an even better idea, though, to prevent "spawn camping" of these NPCs when their Earth week of service ends, I guess.

Traded Zinc Ore to Kagetora. Got a funny little message, but he didn't take it.

Traded Shuriken to Kagetora, he took it. 102 Shurikens later between two San d'Orians and he still says the same old crap.

You have to zone between each trade btw, and you can't talk to him before you trade. Gonna go back later and finish trading this stack to him, see if maybe it all has to be from one person, but I doubt it.

That definitely seems the most likely. Apparently each one has a different method of giving them something, which can only be performed once between zoning. Whichever nation influenced them with the most items by tally probably gets their service. The ones we know now are:

Kagetora - Takes Shurikens.
Duskraven - Takes 500gil (I believe).
Choi Mou - Takes the Crimson Chigoe (this is not an item or key item that can be seen, it's a message you get with no tangible item).

Dalzakk would be a huge pain since he's no where near a zoneline.

Since he didn't join, I went and got a testimony, and traded it to him. He said, "What's this...? Interesting...No, no. I'm sorry, youngster. I don't have the time for that now. But maybe someday when this war is over--"

So apparently he still didn't join (even though he kept the testimony). Nothing when I traded him some KS.

From the Campaign discussion thread - sounds to me like this is his item, but don't think anyone else has traded Testimonies to him.

A friend of mine farmed all 15 "old world" testimonies, and traded them all to Maat (zoning between each one). Maat took all of the testimonies, and well nothing happened. So it's probably just sheer numbers >_>

Tell him to trade him the 5 "new world" testimonies, too. Even though he doesn't accept them in the present, he may as well since he's gone that far.

Maybe they inherited them from the original relic holder, kinda like we do? (Although that wouldn't exactly explain why the Hydra Corps had them, so them just being very elite pieces of equipment still makes the most sense.)

I assumed all the relic holders (that we inherit from) were part of the Hydra Corps, which hasn't happened yet?

Kilhwch - Excalibur NPC

These 2 ppl are in Bastok (at least on Asura). They are by the zone to South Gustaburg (in the past) The girl, Ulla, talks about 'our nation faces a uphill battle in its quest to bring peace to the land' and that Kilhwch and her may be of some assistance. The Excal NPC doesnt say much but thinks my intentions are crooked.

I dont know if someone found these npcs in other places and actually was able to recruit them for Bastok. I checked the news guy and it says freelances are unknown for all 3 nations. They there for anyone else on another server?

I think at the end of the weekly tally, whoever nation traded the most things will nab the NPC. Well, that would be the obvious guess.
