For Azima I'm still not sure. Maybe she has two different items, one for whichever zone line she is standing near at the time. Another thing I'm confused on is Choh Moui.. Since the item she needs to be traded can only be obtained in CN I don't see how other people are supposed to recruit her while she's in a nation.
The ???s should appear in the nation now, I would imagine. There's text for Bastok and San d'Oria about "half eaten royal omelette" and "half eaten galkan sausage", along with Choh Moui talking about her "babies" getting filled up on nobles and children.

    I'd imagine those are correlate.

I never look in Windurst DAT's files because Windurst sucks.

Here's maat's text for ya to try to parse through and find some clue

Heh heh heh. A lot of young brawlers making names for themselves in this time of war. Maybe it's time I got back out on the battlefield myself!?Prompt?

I bet a young whippersnapper like yourself thinks ?Multiple Choice (Player Gender)?[he/she]'s got what it takes to rough up a beastman or two, eh? From what I see, you still have a few more mountains to climb, ?Multiple Choice (Player Gender)?[sonny/missy]!?Prompt?

You're a veritable Jack-of-all-trades...and a master of all of 'em to boot! My hat goes off to you, ?Multiple Choice (Player Gender)?[sonny/missy]!?Prompt?

    What's this...? Interesting...
No, no. I'm sorry, youngster. I don't have the time for that now. But maybe someday when this war is over--?Prompt?

Re: Freelancer NPCs? Where are you!?

Can add Vitriol, Sulfur, Djinn Ash, Firesand, Earth Crystals, Water Crystals, Grenades, Caduceus, Alchemist's Apron to Azima's no acceptance list. EDIT: Forgot I tried Silent Oil as well

Only thing I noticed is that when I first talk to her she says, "Oh you appear quite versed in the alchemic arts. I just started, myself. Magic is fun and all, but you are always left with nothing but the afterglow. Alchemy is like magic that gives you a gift when you are finished!" (I have 99.6+3 Alchemy, but lower Alchemy will probably trigger it)

Only real leads is that in the present she has a malady that gives her a bad cough (hence why I tried firesand and grenades->sick from inhaling too much smoke) But possibly lowbie alchemy synth items could be it as well, since she is "just starting out".

Wait, so now you are trying to kill her?!

Well, I'd think someone that stops coughing would be key. Either that or crystals.

She seems perfectly healthy in the past, so I thought she was given something in the past that eventually made her sick. Heh.

Anyway, tried sweets (Ginger Cookie, Apple pie) a Deathstone, Animal Glue (the first skill test item for Alchemy), the ingredients to make Silent oil, Snythed the Silent Oil in front of her then tried to give it to her and a Thunder Crystal. Nada.

Also zoning then taking to her again causes her admiration about your high Alchemy skill to happen again.

There is also a line in the .dats after her other dialog:

Ahahaha! Are you trying to flatter me with your gifts? Well, I must say...you are doing quite a good job! Ahaha!

I think its her's since it appears after her lines in the Bastok Markets [S] .dat as well.

My impressive 21 Alchemy skill doesn't trigger it, so probably a little higher than that

Also you mentioned zoning, did you try to trading Azima BEFORE you talked to her? I know if you talk to Kagetora before you trade him he won't accept anything, perhaps the same holds true for Azima?

Oh oh oh! I'm going to bed now or I'd test this myself but perhaps someone else can before I wake up; there's an item you buy in Port Bastok from the vendor at the Airship Docks called "Kaiseran Cosmetics" or something similar, an Ex furniture item. The interesting bit, however, is that the description says it was invented by Azima. Perhaps that works?

Waiting on Campaign to end atm so I can find her, will edit after~ I am hoping it causes a Time Paradox and tears Bastok from the face of the planet though!

update; She didn't take it and no tearing of time/space or destruction of Bastok.. :/

Hmm, I know for the Animal glue, Sneak Oil Ingredients, the sneak oil I synthed, plus the sweets and deathstone, traded them to her before I talked to her and she didn't accept. (Had to double check temp log heh) But the other stuff I am pretty sure I talked to her before trying to trade. I'll go back and try those things again, after I study for finals....

What is this "Freelancers disappear an hour after a battle ends." about?

Does that mean they're there for one fight, then you have to go get them again?

As Rocl said, she's a legatus, i think. And the only reason i'm restating what Rocl said is because i like saying legatus. Legatus.

Re: Freelancer NPCs? Where are you!?

Ok went back and tried the items again before talking to her, as well as trying them after talking to her once and twice. Still no go. Also tried trading Ouka Ranman, Papillion and popstar as well as using them in front of her. Also didn't work.

Perhaps Remi Shells (2 at a time) or Beehive chips (3 at a time), since those are used in the Paying Lip Service quest in windy (they need the items to make make-up).

I was really afraid of what that could mean, but it doesn't appear to be the second one.
San d'Oria still has one Freelance star, and Kagetora is still chillin' in South San d'Oria, so I guess they'll only fight in a campaign battle for an hour? Perhaps they weren't despawning correctly or something? No clue

Re: Freelancer NPCs? Where are you!?

So the added Sigil bonus Freelances can add, according to .dats, is a reduced Exp penalty when KO'ed. Looks like you will be given the option to add it on just like regen/refresh/meal duration. I definately don't have that option from Choh Mou, or Ulla/Kilhwich though. Anyone with freelance NPC's have this option? Not an amazing bonus, but decent. Maybe there will be others added in updates.

Edit: Updated wiki with some info, http://wiki.bluegartr.com/Headhunting

Remi Shells, Beehive Chips, Scroll of Sneak, Scroll of Invisible all no go for Azima. There has to be a common dominator between the 3 areas she wants to go to. Only can think of Quadav stuff. I'm stumped

I think the Fey Spring in Grauberg, and the Sprout in Meriphitaud are means of recruiting Titania and Babban Ny Mheillea. According to the web, Babban Ny Mheillea is a folklore earth spirit of some kind, and I don't know of anything else the Sprout/Spring would be used for.
