So basically, everyone who had an event today got screwed. Yay.

Wow that really sucks. I was hoping we'd get our glass back :/
What a bunch of crap.
Ask to speak to his superior. There was no announcement in the system message and there should have been. If people log in at the wrong time or are zoning, they will not see the random notices. The majority of my own shell didn't see the announcements either -- mostly due to logging in after they were made. We experienced no real hardship as a result, though. Thursday is an off-day for us.
Poor form not to put the notice in the /smes as well as announcing it. Your entry wasn't your fault for not heeding the message. It was their fault for not setting an /smes to make sure everyone got it.
I talked to 3 GMs for a glass refund, all told me the same thing. I put in a SGM request though, hope that goes well![]()
I suppose I'll add an FYI for this thread:
It's beyond the power of GMs to restore key items or insubstantial things (like AP) under any circumstances.![]()
I think this sums up everyone's thoughts on this situation:

Hopefully the people higher up will make a decision to reimburse people for their losses since this was an unexpected event. And even though they gave an hour warning to some/most about the maint, that still didn't prevent those who were already in areas from getting screwed. Same with those who were in areas that crashed without any notice at all.
I'm sorry but I can't seem to agree with this post. Emergency maintenance != planned maintenance.Originally Posted by Tomiko

If they did plan a maintenance, they'd do it smack in the middle of European playtimes again, so I'm relatively thankful that they did an emergency one while I was asleep. Now I can whore out campaign ops in peace this evening!
I'm confused![]()
I agree that the emergency maintenance was the right thing to do. I just think they should reimburse the people who got screwed out of started events (Dynamis, Salvage, etc) even though they say they can't because they gave the warning not to enter said areas (which was after it had already happened to some).
So I'm not sure what part you don't agree with
Edit: If it has to do with HNM timers, then that doesn't bother me.
Had 35 people for DL too, highest attendance we have had for a Dyn since a year and a half ago![]()

He continued on to claim that the emergency maintenance was a premeditative move and that Sylph never crashed. Also, Funny how GM Promethas told me that I would be helped when servers came up.

everyone might want to request this guy... he obviously looks like he was jp, but this happened back in march07, was wandering through jeuno on my friend's char and noticed a horde of jp and a sgm... turns out these people's dynamis got messed up and they gave them a new hourglass.
edit: http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/viewt...hp?f=2&t=16884 is a link to the thread i made about this last march
Woot this GM had my hopes up.
Read the line "Did you lose your orb?" Like he gave a fuck ^^ Atleast, he seemed to cared, but to get my hopes up and then two minutes later to shatter them makes me angry and sad.

At least matinence happened at a reasonable hour of the night for once.

We were in the middle of Dynamis when the message was displayed the first time ( 1 hour before the emergency maintenance ). We then placed a GM call in order to ask for a glass refund and there was like 70 calls before us. We then placed another call maybe 30 min before the maintenance and we never got to talk to a GM before the server went down. I really hope they give us one back but by the look of it, hour chances are slim.
These GM calls that everyone has a problem with are a part of the game. They are not new and they should not surprise anyone anymore. GM obvioulsy lack a lot of information about the game, but you guys take advantage of the fact that a GM won't show anger and make these bad 911 calls. Read the menu before you send a GM call from the help desk because a lot of these calls don't need to be made.
....how exactly is comparing a game to 911 a valid argument? In before godwined.Originally Posted by Ryogo

B: It affecting someone's paycheck

I was dual boxing when the first spam went out about maintenance: not everyone got the message until 30 minutes prior to being kicked off. If I'd just spent a million gil or 99 KS I'd sure as hell want something, instead of a 'go suck it' that they're being forced to give us now. I'm going to use they're feedback form to tell 'em what kind of message this sends to people, since basically they've just said "You can and will be screwed out of anything you try and do with no compensation for your time or effort should we have a problem. But please, we're sorry".
