So did anyone else watch the Sci-Fi miniseries?

What did you think of it?

I personally thought Zooey Deschanel was a retarded actor, totally wrong for the part.

But it was an interesting six hours, I don't regret it.

first movie I saw her in was elf, I've been attracted to her ever since.

It was very cleverly done to say the least. I did find it odd that they picked her for the part, and had her play it the way she did, kind of odd seeing her act like that after seeing her in other movies, good series overall though.

I really liked it, but the only really good actor in it was the guy that played Cain.

I was really looking forward to it, but I thought all of the actors kind of sucked, with the possible exception of Richard Dreyfuss. I ended up laughing through most of it. The dialogue was hilarious most of the time, the little "action" sequences where people fought/struggled were so obviously faked it was embarassing (hi2u Alan Cumming kicking those dudes around outside Azkadellia's lair), the effects were along the same lines as many of the other cheesy effects in various Sci-Fi channel fare, and I didn't think it had a very good flow, either. How many times did we really need to see that same flashback of DG making the doll fly with her sister? Why was the reunion between Cain and his son so lifeless and unenthusiastic? It wasn't just Cain who lacked emotion; all the characters seemed very cardboard and insincere. The acting just wasn't good enough to make me care about what ultimately happened to any of them.

My biggest question was: Why did Azkadellia and DG's parents go to all this trouble to devise this master plan instead of just, I don't know, dealing with the fact that Azkadellia was fucking possessed? They figured it out at some point very soon after she became possessed, when she was still a young girl. Probably even before Azkadellia killed DG for the first time, hence why the queen took the time out of her day to feel bad about not protecting DG properly. Surely it took longer to put together that whole puzzle, build robots, cloak memories in magic, hide stones in tombs, and build a whole alternate reality for DG to grow up in, than it would have taken to just seal that possessed bitch off in some remote place until they could figure out what to do. I got the impression that's why that evil witch was down in that cave in the first place, so it's not like it hadn't been done before. I imagine putting Azkadellia away for a few years would have caused literally everyone in their whole world a lot less suffering, themselves included. It just all seemed very unnecessary.

Overall, I think they tried very hard to make a decent derivative work, but fell very short of the mark.
