Holy crap, I just read about this shooting at Yahoo! News, and immediately remembered this thread about the threats they found awhile back. These shootings are happening way too often now and the stupid part is that they manage to find legitimate threats and still, they were unable to prevent the shooting (unless this shooting had nothing to do with the initial threats, but who knows).

The initial threats promised a shooting on December 10th, which never happened. I'd say that was off enough that this is probably unrelated. And even if it were related, the date was so far off that you can't honestly expect the authorities to have been able to do anything about it (as far as heightened security for 3 months after the threat).

Police chief now seems to point at lack of needed medication as a possible reason the gunman went off the deep end. So much for the Thompson Theory. Bring on the scientologists?
