    Gustaberg Campaign

Might have been asked elsewhere, but I can't be bothered to dig through 20 pages of stuff.

Is there an issue with Gustaberg Campaign that I don't know about? At least twice today I've gone and signed up, along with many others, and waited 30+ minutes for the mobs to show up (complete with music), only to give up in vain because they never showed up? I've been doing Campaign all day across various zones, and I've only noticed their retarded slowness in Gustaberg. Do they ever show up, or is there a glitch/bug somewhere?

    Re: Gustaberg Campaign

I think it's something that just started happening. I didn't see it at all before, suddenly today I waited for about 30m in Meriphataud for the Yags, no show. A Random NPC, Piscean Caster, I have never seen before ran up to the Fort and warped though. I have never seen their group before and it was a solo NPC.

Later, in Pashow, I waited 30m or so for the Quads to show and suddenly 2 NPCs and the General, Sonia ran off. I followed nearly all the way to Beadeaux and helped them kill 2 Elite Guards, at which point they trotted back to the Fort. About 20m after they got back it ended. I was hoping to see Ulla and Killwich fight too but the Quads never showed.

Then again!, in Rolanberry, we waited about 10m or so for Quads and one showed up, we killed it. 20m or more passed and finally a full 2 forces showed up, which we had a pretty good battle with.

idk, maybe the Beastmen are too scared to fight or something or their morale/prosperity is too low and they run away. It's kinda annoying..

edit; found the name of the random Taru NPCs, Piscean Casters. Never seen them before, 1 showed to Meri and warped, 2 just popped in front of me in Saruta, ran for a bit and then stopped. Maybe they are glitched.

This happened to me at Fort Karugo-Narugo [S] not too long ago, after the last Campagin update. I just got there, and for 20 minutes, no mobs were attacking. Tons of NPCs and people ready to fight stuff, nothing ever attacked, and the music just ended.

It seems to happen a whole lot at the Fort, on Odin.

Bring a ranger along. Sometimes the Allied NPCs will fight the enemy NPCs out in the middle of nowhere. I always widescan then use say to let people know where the enemy is located.

Also, in Fort KN there is a twist in a tunnel east of stronghold that some NMs seem to get stuck at, even though all the other mobs have moved on. I've often had to pull the lone NM back to stronghold to finish off the battle.

Also, sometimes a group of PCs will hold them elsewhere. Happens on Midgar too often.

    Re: Gustaberg Campaign

Nobody is holding the mobs, as 2x it happened to me I was one of 3 people in the zone, one time there were no NPCs, because the Campaign started directly after another and I was still there, the other time the NPCs never moved. The other time it happened, I followed the 3 NPCs who did run off to fight and they only found/killed 2 mobs and then ran back to the Fort. No other mobs came to the Fort ever and I wandered around to see if anything got stuck.

Seems more like a glitch or mobs getting stuck to me.

    Re: Gustaberg Campaign

I suppose I should mention that I had a RNG widescan various places in Gustaberg, and personally ran around half of the zone and could not find a single mob.

Clearly its happening elsewhere, which is not cool. I've been spamming Grauberg/Rolanberry/Saruta, and they've been pretty consistent, no real issues at all (cept for the occasionally really really brief ones, but nothing like Gustaberg).

I'm really enjoying Campaign, but I don't want to see this kind of crap continuing D: Sadly, its probably going to mean another maint in the middle of the day again.

    Re: Gustaberg Campaign

Rolanberry Fields, been doing it all day basically, epic fights, including my new highest, 2630.

People were looking for them, couldn't see anything, so we followed the scanning Ranger, who started heading deeper in, past where Black Triple Stars pops, and then comes back saying they saw them.

Next time, we went En Masse in there and rushed them, had quite a few battles in that pass.

Did this several times, only once had them pop up on the west side of the fort.

Last fight of the night for me, couldn't find anything, so I follow some people running back down that valley, and find a bunch of NPC's past the gate, and a few people fighting Di'Dha and some Vhuuds. >.>

Could it be that one of the national strategies has the NPC's go looking for the mobs more actively?

    Re: Gustaberg Campaign

Last night in Jugner, campaign started and it was literally 15-20 minutes before the first orcs arrived, but after they got there, we had Gutrenders, Gnoles, Bloodwings, Spinebeaks, and finally Steelhides attack one wave after another, including their respective commanders. Very cool fight, I wound up with 2300+ exp from it.

Then right after, I went to Pashhow with some ls mates, we stood around with tags active for nearly 30 minutes before the first mobs showed. And when they did show, they came from 2 different directions, 1 or 2 mobs at a time. The combined group would kill them, then we would wait for several minutes for more mobs to show up. Ghi'Ghi Rockchopper showed up evenutally, Gho'bo Herohunter, and finally Hundredfist showed, but they didn't show up with more than a couple mobs each. I am sure that this one hit the 1 hour cap and it felt slow and drawn out. I only got 1.3k for the hour's work while the mages that cured others or did lots of enhancing got more. The big winner was our Cor who spent his hour not only shooting things, but throwing around lots and lots of rolls as well as some cures. He got almost 3k exp from the fight.

So don't opponents always spawn in the same areas? I've noticed that West Saru, but never investigated it further. If so, I'd love a list of these locations.

Check the region map when this happens, I bet that same beastmen is sacking some other zone while you are all sitting in gusta. I think the beastmen stategy may be on diversionary tactics since they got raped last tally.

    +1

They attack or defend based on what they feel is most urgent. When attacking last week we had 5 groups at Rolanberry and an unguarded Pashow, until 2 of their groups scuttled off and showed up minutes later in Pashow. Both zones were showing "Campaign Battle" icons but they chose to send all their quadavs to defend rolanberry. If they're in another zone they can't be in the one you're defending/attacking and like your cities troops will prioritise who they attack and when.

yep, this is why the npc's take off running when they detect the campaign mobs from what i've seen. Bastok on my server is set for premptive strike, all the bastok campaigns i've been to they run ahead to engage the mobs while windy campaign the npc's just sat around and waited.
