    Throwing

So yea currently my throwing skill on RNG is @ 150. I was just wondering if there were mobs that I could solo to get this to a reasonable level (190-200?). Skill up parties are few and very far between and amazingly throwing skill ups in Beseiged have been quite shitty recently.

    Any help would be appreciated.

This doesn't really answer your question but didn't SE nerf Besieged skill ups last update? Or did I dream that...

    Re: Throwing

Get a DMG1 throwing weapon from IS, lower your STR as much as possible so you hit for 0 and go to Hpemdes. And before someone says "Wasn't there a patch a long while back to where you can't get skillups from those," that was only for melee combat skills at least as of a year ago or so when I capped throwing on BLM.

you don't need 0 str, you just need negative fstr - if you have a 1D weapon and -1fstr, you will never hit for more than 0 damage (0*x=0)

don't ask me how much str you would need for negative fstr but logically it works..

    Re: Throwing

Full Mahatma, some random rings/belts, and food I could probably get my WHM to -30STR, hah.

I recall back when you could get sleep skillups off Robber Crabs that with the 1DMG staff I would never hit for over 0, but with a 2DMG club I would about half the time or more. So, I'm confident that I can just go out there with base STR (on WHM, at least) and not have issues.

I'm going to go try and level off them tonight with my Mamoolbane. Go for another blue skill!

    Re: Throwing

Didn't they make it so you can't get a skill up on zero damage? I'm somewhat sure this is the case as I remember being annoyed I missed the opportunity to cap dagger on rdm on crabs in the tree (sleep+ceremonial was the old route?). Could be wrong... (edit: ok guess throwing was not included).

Going 150-190+ in kuftal should be relatively easy solo tho for any 75 I would think? I capped it on Nin on steelshells.

Read four posts up, unless he was speaking out of his ass you can still recieve skill ups with ranged weapons that way.

Kinda hard to solo EP+ on RNG unless I'm doing sleep bolts :/

    Re: Throwing

With Signet bonus to evasion and defense you can NI -> NI vs. robber crabs /nin ... healer type npc can make it almost impossible to die as long as you use a decent camp (where no cute little wyverns roam) and pull one crab at a time.

I spent ages in there skilling up everything on war and after the signet update I could rely on my hercules ring to keep me alive and not even bother with shadows. Now, if I had anything left to skill up, I'd go there /dnc...

    Re: Throwing

since OP is a rng he can pop a blint bolt off on the robber crabs before switching to throwing weapon to skill up with, i capped my throwing on nin and my best advice is, stay longer in each skill up area than you would normally (dont leave kuftal until much closer to 200 than 180 which is when i normally leave with normal weapons), throwing seemed to skill really fast for me with a boomerang, i went from ~130 to 269 in 2 days

    Re: Throwing

Put on full R. Acc Gear, go to Besieged, Eat Sushi, bam crazy skill ups. Best ones I got was off Khim, his evasion was extremely low for some reason (almost never missed even with sushi off), I was at like 200 and got to 220 easily in 1-2 beseigeds. IT+++ Mobs that you don't have to tank = win

    Re: Throwing

Eatting a cursed soup will give -7 str but also -7agi and presumably -7 racc. (king truffle/reishi mushroom for -6 str with no -agi/racc) Some (all?) races' lvl 50 "stone" belts give -5 str. Malflame Rings give -3 str each, Corsette -2str/agi, Greed Scimitar for -1str/agi.

Also just thought of something I'm sure doesn't work cause if it did everyone would do it, you can't skill up in ballista right?

Don't think so but you can skill up on charmed players or when your charmed.

    Re: Throwing

For the record, you used to still be able to get ranged skillups on sleeping mobs, but I believe that was ninja-fixed. My fiancee would do the whole sleeping bit on crabs in various places, but after some random maintenance it stopped working, I believe. SE never really said they "fixed" it, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

The besieged idea sounds good, though. If you're very clever and don't mind possibly losing some exp, how about some worms? Maybe in Uleguerand range? Or even the ones in Kuftal? (though they're usually in groups)

    Re: Throwing

Just to further clarify, the patch that made it so you couldn't get skillup from 0 hits for melee combat skills was October 2005, and I found a screenshot from June 2006 from when I was capping throwing of skillup from 0 hit on hpemde, but it is entirely possible they ninja-changed it since then. I didn't realize it was so long ago lol

Yes you can. My BLM's staff goes up every besieged when I get charmed.

I also have a screenshot somewhere of him getting 12 .01's in 3 seconds after I -ga'ed a charmed mob and had rapega cast back at me.

Only applies to War and Pld, but Koenig gear gives a bunch of -Str too.

I'm the person Mich is referring to and I remember doing this with both staff and ranged in Kuftal on crabs as BLM.

Signet staff was great for not waking them up with, but alas they fixed it before I could cap it. Ranged skillups still worked though, so I'd mindlessly hit Ctrl+D while resleeping as necessary. But then that seemed to stop working too. I'm pretty sure I moved to something higher level and tried again, just in case, but it didn't work. Wouldn't get anything for hitting for 0.

This was a good long while ago though. Maybe I'll go up to Boyahda later and test it again on Steelshells since my throwing is 203 or something and might not be capped yet on BLM.
