hunting =/= dog fighting. had michael vick killed the dogs by way other than fighting them or hanging them etc. and used them for food I wouldn't really have a problem with it as many countries consider that ok.

Torturing, starving, injuring != 1 bullet 1 kill. That's the difference between a life of torture VS a quick death. Just because the end result is the same, doesn't mean it's ok to damn Billy because he kill a single buck every year in Oct with his dad by lumping him in the same group as a guy that kills multiple dogs in a very cruel fashion.

Yep, you're right - that's the only difference between hunting and what Vick was doing. Nothing else between the two was different at all. Whatsoever.

23 months sounds fine I guess to me. I'll be interested to see what happens when he gets out, and I wonder if he'll "good behavior" it down a few months.

It is kinda fucked up though - Leonard Little KILLED A WOMAN in 1998 and got 90 days in jail and 4 years probation. He's still playing for the Rams btw - just signed a 3-year extension last year. Oh, but FUCK MICHAEL VICK I LOVE PUPPIES.

I am glad you brought that up, I was living in St Louis at the time of that accident. My immediate thought was "Wow, wtf" I felt ashamed for whatever reason, that he was basically given a slap on the wrist, no wait, I wouldnt insult a slap on the wrist that way. That punishment was a fucking joke.

He deserves to STILL be behind bars, iirc he ended up getting another DWI about 2 years ago or something along those lines for refusing a breathalyser after speeding at 3am. I am with you, It is fucking sickening.

As far as Vick goes, he has no one to blame but himself. This isn't a case of him being "victimized" because he is an athlete, or because he is black, he is a victim of his own narcissism and fucking stupidity. Let me grab my violin and weep as he tells me about his tough upbringing and how he had to scrap and fight for everything that he needed blah blah blah blah motherfucking blah.

I'm am absolutely sick of celebrities and athletes getting away with shit. Not just how small of a punishment they get for their crimes, but for all the crap they don't get charged for.

Someone in this thread said Vick got more than the norm. Well, that probably gets me more mad. How is the torturing and killing of dozens of dogs punishable by less than 5 years, let alone 3. This is some serious sociopathy.

He got more than the norm for someone who's on their first offense and plea bargained (probably because the financing and the failed drug test), but still significantly less than what some people have gotten for dog fighting busts. On my local morning show, they talked about some guy getting 30 years, but he put landmines around his dogs and almost killed someone. If he would have pleaded not guilty and was found guilty, his sentencing, i'm sure, would have been significantly more.

meh, about returning to the NFL, I like what the nfl "analysists" on espn said before the game tonight.

He was making alot of money, and he sure as hell wont be when he gets back, because he'll probably be in a different position. He'll still "physically" be able to play his positions for sure, but mentally QB will most likley be out of the question. He could infact end up in better shape, so as a RB, WR, KR, CB, he might do great at. However, like said, he was making alot of money, and his return to the NFL would be more of a "entering the workforce" kinda thing, where he has to do it to make a living rather than anything else.
