Well, the 1 time a month when I am glad school takes up my time. I just wish SE was on EST but whatever, gotta learn to live with it![]()
Its the same rate of maintenances, its just that it hasn't stopped.Originally Posted by Sykes

If you reread the OP it's stated that a Version Update will follow the maintenace. I could be wrong thoOriginally Posted by Izzy

Its gonna be a patch with just fixes, no new content or anything. Just a bug fix, maybe a few campaign tweaks.

I wish people would be educated to the fact that Maintenance is going to occur after expansions etc, nothing is made of pure completeness nor is it bug free. Take this into consideration and their debug list must be huge for this expansion, they are simply fixing in order of priority and implementing the fixes in stages to ensure the stability of FFXI. While square have skilled people at work, their priorities are not focused on releasing expansions that have every bug removed due to time/scale->cost. SE follows a strict pattern as do most companies when producing games, the procedure makes sure vital bugs are removed, bugs are listed in order or priority and necessity to have fixed, they are fixed and tested on the test servers, maintenance is scheduled, bugs are patched.
They are doing their job by doing these maintenances, you could say " but they should of made it without these bugs", you sir/madam made yourself look a complete prat as for 1. please try making something of this scale and not have problems, 2. even the best of games have their problems even console wise, you'd just have to point at Pro Evolution Soccer 2008/GTA5 etc.. and are never bug free.
Back to the main point; Moaning will never cease, but I'd like it if people were that little bit smarter to consider why a "Maintenance" occurs and why so many after an expansion(usually logic follows unless you live in a world where you think games are made with complete accuracy). Even the simple programs being used today aren't made accurate nor are they free from bugs neither sometimes made with concise code.

I think most people realize that.
I just think they're irritated at HOW MUCH it goes on. If they tested things properly beforehand, most of these issues would be apparent, with a few glitches getting through. But to say no one on the dev team bothered actually playing a 2h job, or tried some of the nyzul areas with broken mobs, etc, at ALL, shows a severe lack of attention to detail and what appears to just be a rush to get content out.
In addition, people would probably prefer things to actually get fixed in updates, not "lets see what issues they took care of and what new problems they created because every time some issue gets addressed new ones get created" like it seems now, which again reflects seemingly poor testing. "Hey guys, this mob is spamming bene, what should we do?" "I don't know, lets change these 3 lines of code, that should stop it." "Won't that fuck something else over?" "Who knows, lets find out."
With better testing we would only need 2-3 post-update fixes after a new expansion, and just to smooth the glitches out that were unexpected. We understand nothing runs perfect. But having day after day of emergency and planned maintenance would be frustrating to any customer, regardless if it was a game or any other service. I think people would rather SE take like a 30 hour maintenance and fix everything for good then leave it alone for 1-2 months rather than having minor 2-5 hour ones 3-4 times a week.
Thats one of the things i always liked about EvE is that its down 1 hour every day, and they use that time to fix things for the most part.
Addiction is not a bad thing. Its all about how you deal with it
There is a couple thousand people atm having shakes and crap because SE is doing another maint.
I believe since the release of WotG, we've had at the most, two maint a week which had happened twice.having minor 2-5 hour ones 3-4 times a week.
I've seen people complaining that this always happens on their day off. So you can't devote a WHOLE 24 hours to the game? OH MY GOD NO!!!! What a travesty. We have way too many spoiled brats playing this game.
I actually like that system too. Ultima Online did the same thing, daily scheduled maint. from 5-6AM (or was it 6-7AM, I forget).Originally Posted by karril

Well, it would make HNM camping a little less annoying.Originally Posted by Xavier
The idea of having a completely rotating schedule for an event just isn't appealing here.
At those times i would never see an HNM againOriginally Posted by Xavier
