Sheer animosity and JoL

Hey guys, I got a noob question for my noob LS. We're a newly established LS and we've been farming in SEA for a month now.

AFter wasting alot of time and EXP I've finally decided to ask the pros here on BlueGartr.
I've been reading alot of articles but alot of them are not very clear on the littlest details... for example.

1. We're having a tough time getting sheer animosity, are you suppose to kill ONLY the aerns in the room where the ??? is? Or are you able to kill Aerns all around and have someone camp the ??? to check for animosity? I don't think this works because I think the animosity is random and everyone is suppose to check the ???. But this doesn't seem to work very well for us we've been killing aerns here for over 7 hours ....

2. When engaging JoL, it'll spawn mobs in sets of 3. My question is, if you kill them all down, does it still continue to spawn or does it stop like how Kirin pops 4 gods and then stops? I hear that after killing down all of it's summons, he will only spawn Phaubos for the remainder of the fight. Now what I want to know is, does it still spawn in sets of 3? I've probably read about 30 articles on JoL and none of them were very clear on how it's summon works.... everyone just kept saying how easy JoL is, well after wiping to JoL the first time I really don't want to waste our 2nd pop sets

1. Animosity can be a bitch, plain and simple. You have to kill Aerns nearby the ???, so what you can do is pull Aerns from the hallway and into the ??? room.

2. Yes, it will continue to spawn only Phuabos, and yes it will spawn them in sets of 3 at a time. What was the problem at your first JoL attempt? The only way I can think of wiping to JoL is trouble with the adds alliance. JoL himself... well, he doesn't do anything. >.>

Just have 2 NINs hold 2 phuabo when it started only summoning phuabo then it only summons 1 at a time..
easily handled by an adds alliance of like 3 BLMs. Still need a decent amount of people for the first 10 or so sets of 3 though.

Never heard of that before but if that works why not just hold all 3 phuabos?

Because killing the pops, I'm pretty sure, is the only way to break its tough ass regen.

The person who get hate is random, and only him can pop the Aern. If someone else click the "???" while a party member have hate, he will get "You feel a passive presence" or something like this instead of the normal message.

It's not uncommon to not get any ix'drk/ix'drg after so long. I usually just give up after 2h if there is no pop and move to the other Ix. When one doesnt want to pop, the other one seem to pop more.

Holding 3 phuabos lets 3 more spawn (you'd then have 6) I think it can go to 9.

If you kill 1, and hold 2, it only spawns 1.

Just a little advice, if anyone in the party or ally needs to go afk, they need to drop. You don't want to miss your pop because the person with animosity went afk. If you kept afk people in your group, you might have missed your window. However... animosity can be a pain in the ass anyway. It's best to send a few BLM and a RDM to try and pop him and let them XP off the aerns while your group does your other sea stuff. If it pop's, have everyone haul ass to help out, though he can be low manned if you all want to try that.

My boyfriend popped it off a random Aern about three weeks ago, I believe. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure.

Same situation here. No idea how many times I popped it, but it was around30times too. 10-15% of the aern killed were from outside and never seen the message from them (usually pull 2-3 when im fighting north). I'm going to wait for a credible source with picture, because it doesnt look like it pop from them.

I might be completely off, but the way I understand Ix'DRK, the PH can be any of the aerns in the four rooms on the first floor, but since the rooms are so spread out, it doesn't make sense to kill them in rooms other than the ??? room, since sheer animosity would usually wear off before you could get to the ???.

I found that DRG/WHM was extremely effecient at keeping one NIN alive while holding two Ru'Phuabos. Just required bad ass EVA gear and a ton of Echo Drops. With Full healing breath gear, was healing breathIII'ing for 447ish, 760ish with deep breathing for 7 mp ftw.

Yeah we wiped to the adds. As we have 21 members, I see most linkshells uses around 30man for JoL. Thanks for all the response guys.

Yup I have to agree getting sheer animosity is really tough Another day wasted trying to get it for 7 hours as there's no one else in SEA besides us. We have 4 guys standing in each room just to camp the ??? to see if we have animosity so we won't miss it. However, no luck still

If your tanks are positioned correctly so they can heal each other and they dont fall asleep with how boring JoL is, the only TP move JoL should use is boost, because it cant reach the person with hate (tanks hopefully) my ls has only done a few JoLs and charm only happened once, it wore off before anyone did any damage to the pld at all (but I think only the rdm co-tank got charmed)

Yeah we wiped to the adds. As we have 21 members, I see most linkshells uses around 30man for JoL.

JoL can be done with 18, just takes a while since the main allience has to spend time killing adds. While in the damage phase just make sure the BLMs don't get below the MP needed to take out the up coming round of pets while nuking JoL.

To speed things up have an outside party pull the adds and move as much healing to the outside as possible. As WHM I have no problem handling tank party healing, Bar-ra spells, and status cures alone with refresh and ballads. But like to have at least one other WHM around outside of allience in case I wander in too close and get caught in Breakga.

JoL charm is really short usually. Always wore off before we reach the tank (who wasnt even kiting).

To deal with JoL summons we use a blm party.

5 blms and 1 rdm/nin. The rdm/nin runs in and diaga's the summons, blms -ga3 them down. JoL is pulled out as close to the water as possible. There's a spot where it won't cross. This decreases the chances of getting an aern with diaga.

Ix'Drk and Ix'Drg just seem to be hit or miss for us. We try to break the group up. Manaburn aerns until it pops. This also decreases our ps2/black screen issues inside the palace/garden. Making sure afk people disband from party is key when trying to pop Ix'Drk.

Do note, that for ix'drk: when someone gets the animosity message, the message you get when you click the ??? changes (I forget what to though..something like 'you sense a hostile presence' i think? Been awhile xD). Usually when we've camped, I'd check the ??? every time we kill an aern to know whether or not someone got the message and spam chat log when i see it 8) Hope this helps

Yeah its like, "You sense a presence, but it does not appear to be hostile" if someone in your party gets the message.
