i agree - the people in the group are linkshell mates, but we don't know each other RL or anything.

i think i've worked out a system from reading your posts, having them list their top 5 and along with that i'll stipulate that someone who has 2 more nyzul pieces than someone else cannot lot against them... no matter if it's a top piece or free lot, non-selected pieces. the member who lotted the korazin will not be able to lot again against people who have zero pieces until they have something, and his top spot in his picks will have to be the askar korazin, which is already done with.

but how do you all handle alternates? i have a couple, and before i would just say you can't lot on your first run... but with this new system i'll have to say they can't lot against the regular members... could make it difficult to convince someone to come.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

Our system, we have about 8-10 people that go twice a week. Everyone picks a main lot per floor. Once everyone has their main lot, we move on. If no one has that piece for main lot, it goes to freelot to whoever can equip it. If we need an alternate, we backfarm. So right now everyone has their main lot for floors 20 and 40, and we're working on floors 60 and 80. We need only 1 more askar body and we'll be fully on floor 60. Last time we had a replacement (he'd done a few runs way back in the beginning) we went back to farm floor 20 again. One guy wanted denali, one guy wanted goliard, and we were giving the rep askar.
A bit tired, so if that doesn't make sense, I'll reword it tomorrow.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

Atm we just hit floor 71 and are going for Bodies next run. After that we are purely farming all previous floors before heading to floor 100. So far our drop rate has sucked ass (yes we have TH4) and we pretty much have gotten nothing, 2 Goliard Feet and 1 Askar Legs out of the entire disc (1 Goliard Feet went to a non static member who filled in that day ;; ). Anyway we agreed at the start to do 1 main lot set you can lot and can't lot on a different set that drops unless no other main lots need it/want it and you can wear it then it goes to free lot finally. This seems a fair system but most of us have multiple jobs and there are pieces from our main lot sets that are crap on some floors whereas there are pieces from other sets on that floor that are better and wanted. I kinda wanna change our system slightly where everyone picks one piece from any set per floor so as we know exactly what pieces we are targetting. I personally can wear all 3 sets but there are actually very few pieces I actually want overall. I chose to main lot Askar basically just for the body piece so as I can get my 6-hit setup on SAM as well as keep my haste gear (no Rajas Ring is preventing me atm ;; ). Legs I somewhat wanted for my DRG and I actually won the lot on the pair that dropped. The feet and hands i have no interest in except for town gear and the head piece is pointless for me since I have Ace's Helm. My mage jobs are crying out for Goliard Clogs and the conserve mp whore in me would like Goliard Saio but I don't care that much about it really. I also am the disc holder so it is just as well idc much about the headpiece since chances are I won't get it anyway as my luck would dictate a denali bonnet would drop when I choose to erase my disc data.

Either system would work fine I think but there should be a rule that says you cannot lot a 2nd piece from a floor you have already obtained one until everyone else has it. I am yet to decide if the drop rates are worse in Nyzul than in Salvage >.> Atm both suck but I actually think Salvage 35s are marginally better >.>

People need to prioritize what they want.

It is not ideal, but it is better than having an Askar lotter lose a lot to a Denali lotter. Let your 4 Askar have first lots on Askar and after they get it, THEN let your 2 Denali lotters lot.

I predict that your greedy bastard Denali lotter is going to cry a river when your Askar lotters get their revenge by lotting Denali for their mannequins.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

Unlike your group, I go with a 5 people and a mule, and the only time we actually bring in a substitute is when one of the static members doesn't show/forgot to grab an extra tag and everyone else has 4 tags. We really don't cater to them at all and they are doing us a favor by coming along. The only guaranteed incentive for the substitutes is the ability to lot on the ??? items that drop, regardless if it is a regular old bow or Vali's Bow. If they have previously joined us a few times, I don't mind letting them lot if it isn't someone's first choice, which has happened a couple times on floor 20.

P.S. I totally agree with not going with greedy people. They bitch and complain when they don't get what they want and stop coming when they do.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

the player in question also had received bounding boots from LL, that being our only really good ??? drop... giving him 3 good pieces so far (denali feet, askar body and BB), while half the static has zero. i'm going to explain to him that he's not going to be lotting for a while in order to even things up, and if he leaves then that's fine... he has our second disc, but it's only at 21 right now so it's not that big of a deal. already got a replacement lined up just in case.

i had them list their top 5 in order, if people have it tied on their lists we'll lot it and try to repeat for the other(s). also, anyone who's total take is 2+ pieces more than another player cannot win a piece against that player no matter what the priority says - say player A has 4 pieces, player B has 2 - if a piece drops that is on both of their priority lists, pleaer A cannot lot even if it's higher on his list. this will strongly encourage keeping people within 1 piece of each other, because if you let yourself get 2 ahead you could get locked out of one of your chosen pieces when it drops.

also, i'm going to know going in exactly who's eligible to lot no matter which piece drops, so it'll save us time if we come down to the wire.

i like that alternate idea, they're going to be allowed to lot ??? pieces but not armor unless it's not a priority piece and they have a job 70+ for it.

should work out just fine =) thanks for all the input, hopefully if anyone has a similar problem my solution may work for them as well.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

I think what my group did was let people lot per boss floor.. I ended up getting the first two Goliard, Feet and Hands, before some had 1. The way it is now.. we have so much stuff we're just targetting most boss floors for 1 or 2 pieces that someone may not have got yet.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

I know this may not belong here but I was wondering if people have been able to beat Floor 60-80 HNMs without the need for 2HRs. A buddy of mine has beat Nyzul Isle twice now and he has told me it's pretty much impossible to beat it. We have the following setup; PLD w/ aegis, RDM, BRD (stage 3 horn, should be done soon), WAR w/ ridill, BLM, WAR w/ lolbravura). We've managed to farm Floor 20 for the past 2 weeks, and gotten 4-5 Askar feet and 1 Denali.

I just like to know if we could farm w/ the items in chest without the need of 2HRs? Thanks.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

We kinda stopped doing Nyzul after getting Floor 60 cleared once.
They aren't that hard to handle, we had Hydra on Floor 60 and I believe our setup was:
WHM THF NIN BLU BLM BRD for that particular time.
Our BRD didn't have a Storm Fife so we had to make him SV, but really it wasn't that hard.
BLU actually did pretty good damage on Hydra with Vertical Cleave. Also BRD found it hard to land Elegy (Not sure if this is the same resistance as your normal Hydra, so it was pretty hard to tank without any form of Slow on it). With that setup and a relic horn I highly doubt you'd have any trouble beating floor 60,80,100.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

Khalil, yes you can definitely defeat the 60/80 HNMs without the use of 2hrs. My group is MNK (tank), THF (TH4), BLU, RDM, BRD, SMN and we've spammed 60/80 until every group member got at least their main choice of armor, and we've always done 4 boss runs back to back while farming. Items from the chest will make things even easier (body boosts, mana boosts, crit+ drinks for Hydra, etc.). The MNK is also an Aegis/D.Ring/Mantle/AresCuirass PLD, but he usually just comes MNK cause he can tank pretty darn well with that also and provide boosted DD.

We have had a few losses, but they are usually either time related (gotta love physical shield spam) or the MNK taking too much damage too quickly and dying (double/triple attack followed by TP). With a PLD (especially with Aegis) you should be able to handle that a lot better.

In my experience, the only "weak" link in your setup is the BLM, because the ToAU HNMs will resist black magic quite a bit. But having a BLM in general will help you clear floors quicker and if they help cure/status heal on the HNM floors as well as toss some nukes then they'll prove their worth. Stuns on Floor100 will also help too. We're almost done raising our second disc atm, and we'll probably be job swapping our SMN spot with a BLM on Floor100 for stuns (and D2 lol).

You don't REALLY need D2, because the person who needs to leave the zone always has a thing of Fireflies to use alternately. Just have them start using it at 20-40% HP of the boss and have your melees save TP before they leave.

Also, just in case of paralysis or shit hitting the fan, have them bring an Olduum Ring and/or a Warp Cudgel and/or a Tavnazian Ring, because it's imperative they get out before you kill that boss.

Given the choice of BLM or SMN, I'd probably lean towards SMN for ToAU bosses, but I guess that depends on the rest of the backline.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

That is definitely true for most groups about not needing D2, but in my personal case our tank ended up being the first disc holder waaaaaaay back in the day when we started...so...yeah we need to get him out as quickly as possible before he dies and then we're really screwed lol. BLU and THF can hold their own tanking the last little bit of HP at least. Our second disc is held by the person who will be the BLM, so she can just warp herself out toward the end.

    Re: Nyzul lotting rules

In response to the original question, my static had our members declare sets when we got near floor 20. If another piece drops and everyone who declared it has it, it goes to free lot.
