Man, I think unchecking that just removed all the z-fighting issues I've been having with FFXI.Originally Posted by OctavoGilgamesh

[EDIT] Nope, it's still there, but rather than constantly flicking in and behind objects, they just sit in one spot. Less distracting at the least anyways.
gah then what the hell can it be =/Originally Posted by G-Rod
17 did nothing for me, i'm still hitting 3 FPS in random locations.
About two weeks ago (give or take) I heard about the 169.17 fix and downloaded the drivers. They made FFXI run at 25+ FPS in all areas--once. After I got my computer back home five days ago (had to clear out of the dorms) and booted up FFXI, it was back to the same issues--huge FPS drops with lots of models on screen, stuttering framerate, etc. Installing the .25s didn't fix the problem. =/
Anyone know what might be going on here? (I'm fairly certain the move didn't damage any components or anything like that--I'm getting constant 30+ FPS on Crysis at 1280x1024 with most settings on their maximum.)

Anyone know what could be wrong?
I wish I knew what would help. You can try installing the Vista beta SP1. I don't think it will fix it, but I know one person with an 8 series card running Vista on a laptop that said it's what finally fixed it for them, so it might be worth a shot I suppose.

Has anyone tried the .28s drivers on Vista?Originally Posted by Tengaar

I'm using the .28 atm. I'm really not as pleased as the .17. I'll try some testing for my 32 bit XP when I get back home.
Stick w/ the .17 drivers. I don't see anything so far on any series past the .17 series that makes the game run better.
It looks like .17 fixed FFXI problems but was either dropped or lost in the other series updates.
Edit: I used a set of .17 series from laptopvideo2go and it actually made my lappy worse than the original series of drivers I was using. My laptop is an Asus that runs XP 32 bit w/ a Nvidia 7600 Go card... I don't know anyone at the moment that has a laptop w/ a 8xxx series or runs Vista that will let me do some testing. Sorry.
Getting kinda frustrated with people posting about how these drivers did nothing to help their XP machine. It was stated 400 thousand times that the drivers were released to fix Vista FFXI issues.
Actually I play on XP. Once I saw the thread I went directly to Nvidia site and dl the 169 drivers and they totally fixed spell, song and WS lag. I hit the AH in whitegate and instead of 10-13 fps i was at a steady 22-23Originally Posted by Izzy
Meh... I guess I won't test on my 4 versions of Windows anymore. It will save me a lot of time from testing and more time for FFXI.Originally Posted by Izzy
Let's just say this.... For desktop computers... Use 169.17 series drivers for Nvidia cards for ANY version of XP or Vista out.
For laptops... The jury is still out until I can get my hands on another system.
I have tried them all and .17 seems to be the best one for my PC.
Looks like Nvidia has officially released the 169.21 drivers few days ago.
its hard keeping up with new cards..my current card is a year old and I feel so left behind...when I got it was BRAND new and now...its old...lol I have a Nvidia 6600 SLI. So whats the top card thats out right now?
