New Nvidia drivers for FFXI.

If your FPS is between 5-12, your issue is not with the video drivers. You need to clean up your laptop.

The driver issue causes .1-2 fps. You were lucky to get 12 with previous drivers.

Not very much of a computer guy in regard to graphic card. After reading all the posts above, I am not still not 100% sure on what to do.

First of all, some recommanded to uninstall the current graphic card first and restart and use driver cleaner, and then restart again and install the new graphic card from the link. My question is that, since under devmgmt.msc you can pick and choose the current graphic card to use, why not just select the new one and not uninstall the old one so in case it doesn't work, you have something to fall back to? Unless you have to uninstall the old one for the new one to work, I don't know why you have to uninstall the old one.

Second question is where is driver cleaner and what does that do? Under control panel or start manu?

Third question, what will be a good way to clean the computer for higher FPS? Any way to easily delete unnecessary files? I have long been having problem with slow loading when I go to high trafic areas, so is that problem related to Frame rate and graphic card? or is it caused by the functionality of my computer or my network?

Start > Run > "msconfig"

Remove EVERYTHING FROM THE STARTUP TAB THAT YOU DO NOT USE!

Go to control panel, and add/remove programs.

Remove EVERYTHING YOU DON'T USE. There is no reason for you to have it, it could be starting a service/starting up with your computer and you don't know about it.

There are many more complicated things to do, but this will solve 90% of any lag issues due to processor lag.

Thank you. Is there a good guide that tells you what not to get rid of on startup? I know some of them are critical running programs, which is why I always hesitate to get rid of them.

After updating the drivers earlier this week I've found that if I leave my laptop on over night or while I'm at work I'll come back to the process using 250 MB+ memory when it normally only uses ~5 MB. At that point the system is all but brought to its knees from excess page file usage and I have to restart. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Yeah, my laptop only has 1GB. It was pretty nice 2.5 years ago when I got it. Even if you're not taking a hit, you should be able to see if nvsvc32.exe is using excessive amounts of memory. It's more of an inconvenience than anything since I have to wait the extra few minutes to reboot.

I'm pretty fucking sick of redoing drivers every 30 seconds just to test them with Vista/FFXI. If someone wants to test these, let me know how they work lol.

well... found this thread last night figured i would try it out. uninstalled all my current nvidia drivers for my geforce go 6150, however when i go to actually install the new drivers using the modded inf ... i get a blue screen of death when my laptop starts up and i have to let it auto-repair and remove the drivers.

here is where i am confused. because i downloaded the 32 bit version for my 32 bit vista. and i found my video card in the list of cards that these drivers worked for... but still my machine can't start up without them and now i'm stuck in 800 x 600 until i can find SOMETHING that works.

any assistance with my problem would be greatly appreciated, looking at 800x600 makes me want to kill myself.

make sure you're using moble drivers for your go-card and make sure that your card # is supported in the documentation. read b4 you install.

i checked both of those and they were moble drivers for my go-card and my card # was supported in the documentation.

and while the 169.17 completly killed my laptop, i tried out 169.25 just now and windows started normally. about to go log onto ffxi to test, i'll report my findings later.

I've got a 8800GTX and have my system running dual boot between XP and Vista at the moment. So I tried this beta driver out under both OSes.

I'll add that the 169.17 driver did wonders for FFXI on Vista. Now the only thing keeping me from playing under Vista is the fact that when my Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security 2007 software is installed and whether or not it is disabled, FFXI will stutter every 2 seconds. It actually does this with the stable official nVidia drivers, also. If I remove the Trend Micro software, the game plays nice and smooth with much improved frame rate thanks to these beta drivers. But having no anti-virus or anti-spyware software on my OS is kind of a deal-breaker. Either I'll have to see if Trend Micro can fix this or switch to a different software for Vista. PC-Cillin doesn't affect the game at all under XP.

I loaded the drivers up in XP and didn't notice much difference, so I don't see any need for most XP users to switch to the beta drivers. Probably best for people on XP to stick with the official stable release drivers, in my opinion. YMMV.

In there, click on "manage" on the right, the "download/upgrade" towards the left side of the middle of the page. You can try to download 2008 and see if it works. Despite my purchase of 2006, I was able to install both the 2007 and 2008 this way. It may help. Then again, I didn't have this problem when I had the 2007 installed, but I decided to go with 2008 when I reformatted.

Drivers work pretty well on my M1730 XPS 8700M GT. only drawback so far is the audio occasionally has static in it but thats it.

Hi guys. I'm having a problem with upgrading my drivers. Hoping to get a helpful response by posting here. ^^

I am currently running a GeForce 7150m / NVIDIA nForce 630m, But after reading the "Drivers Supported", The only similar thing I found was GeForce 7150 / NVIDIA nForce 630i. Most likely this is my problem, however since I don't actually know what the "m" and "i" stand for, I figured I would give it a shot anyways (I have also heard of similar cases such as mine working.).

My laptop is running Windows Vista home premium 32-bit. When I went to download these drivers, I followed this specific order:

-First, I downloaded the Drivers(Go) and placed the modded file within the unzipped folder.
-Second, I uninstalled my current drivers. I was then asked to reboot.
-After restarting, I attempted to install the drivers.
-Here's the confusing part, I got a error message;
*This driver was intended for Vista 32 bit, and you are not running Vista 32 bit.
-Note: Occasionally I did get this to install, however I would get a blue screen of death, and my computer would have to revert to a previous date to restore my settings.
-Note: After rebooting my computer, Windows had a annoying habit of trying to find a new driver. I could not stop windows from completing this process.


After reading over these type of threads a lot, I keep seeing mention of "Driver Cleaner". Where is this program located? No one specifically states where I can find this. Also, does anyone else have a similar situation like mine? Does anyone know if my Card is the correct model or is this the source of my troubles? Thanks a lot guys, appreciate any responses.
