A recent statistic says that people who are afraid of spiders are 10 times more likely to cry like a girl when they see one near them.

I'd probably cry like a little girl if I saw a spider that big next to me. I'm not afraid of them really, they just creep me out.

the question is, which one would you rather fight, a man size centipede or a man size spider?

The centipede probably, unless it was holding 100 knives.

Why are we as people, generally, afraid of Spiders? It's curious, what about them provokes so much hostility/fear?

Mayhaps, in our previous very small evolutionary ancestor Spiders were our main predator, that would explain our irrational fear of them lmfao...

Probably many factors make people fear spider more than other stuff

-one of the few nasty bug that can actually kill/hurt you (even if 99% of the species arent gonna attack). Scorpion are probably up there with other creepy stuff. Unlike wasp, you just need one to kill you
-They can be found everywhere, especially in your house. It's probably the nasty little thing I kill the most here
-They are sneaky bastard, hanging in your face, walking on your desk, hidding in a corner, making annoying invisible web, hidding in place you dont expect them. I've woke up twice with spider next to me (one was hanging 1 feet above my head, other was on my pillow). Other insect are usually too small for you to notice, or wont climb up to such place.
-They are quick for their size, some jump
-When a spider has babies, you will know it cause they are all over the place. There isnt many small thing that will shit babies all over the place if you dont kill them.
-We prefer thing with fur and pretty color. 5 eyes and weird color is just nasty.

Hasn't Charlotte's Web taught you anything? That shit was real, it actually happened. If pigs and spiders can get along then so can humans. Also, when will mankind stop pouring water all over these itsy bitsy spiders, they are just trying to climb their spout, quit making it rain. One of these days the Sun won't be there to dry up all that rain and mankind will have to be ready and not afraid so that spider can be saved.

I have a feeling it's a natural instinct to be scared of them. Kinda like it's instinct for birds to build nests and such.

I have trouble reading a lot of comic strips nowadays cause since I started to read anime (don't anymore!) I get confused wether I should read from left to right or vice versa.
