Now is it actually any major hardware benefit a Mac has in terms of video editing, or is it just the preferred programs of the industry being Mac specific?

I haven't used Final Cut; I've worked mostly in the Adobe suite for video editing I've done. Oddly enough the new Macs we have in my school's computer lab have windows installed on them as well ->

Very good programs that run really well on the Apple hardware.

Additionally, I really enjoyed working with Apple Pages while designing two newsletters for my last company. I also feel that Keynote puts PowerPoint to shame in how easily you can put together a very nice looking presentation.

The preferred program of the industry is Avid, which is developed for both Mac and PC platforms.

However, 2nd to Avid is Final Cut Pro, which is way more affordable for prosumers and home use despite being on the somewhat more expensive Macs, is very good, and continues to be used more and more in the industry.

Noone uses Adobe Premiere, Vegas, Media 100s or anything else, ever, in Hollywood.

I have an iMac with Final Cut Studio 2 on it that I use for video editing, and Windows XP on the other partition for FFXI and other random PC-only stuff. (It plays beautifully at full resolution/settings btw, and I've never seen so many yellow Fafnirs and Kings in my life since I got it...can't claim shit with threnody though )

Avid from what I have noticed is slowly on the way out. The post-production studio I used to work at only has one Avid machine because their 1 PC person in the office refuses to use a Mac/Final Cut.

I just watched a show on the origins of the S.A.S. last night. They used pink landrovers because pink has a high light absorption factor and blends easy. It is excellent camo for night missions and for the desert.

also, why pink over black? unless i'm missing something it seems like black would be an obvious choice for light absorption

Black absorbs all light, so there is a distinct contrast between the black object and the background. Greens, browns, pinks, blues all reflect some light, so it is harder to tell where the camouflaged objects begins and where it ends. Thus making the shit situational.
