What I want to know is why all this "evidence" is coming out now. I mean, who the hell is going to save a receipt for golfing from nearly a decade ago? The used needles is weird, too, but at least in that instance you can understand the rationale "okay, I'm doing something illegal and if I get caught, I'm the one who's going to get blamed so I'm going to keep a little insurance."

It needs to hurry up and be Wednesday already.
You know what? I don't know either. It's clear they weren't friends for real though, or they wouldn't be keeping EVERY SINGLE DETAIL that they could use against eachother as evidence. McNamee has evidence on Clemens as backup incase he was betrayed, Clemens has evidence against McNamee. That or maybe it's just coincidence and Clemens saves a lot of his receipts. Whatever the case, I honestly can't wait until the hearings Wednesday. Must see TV.

    Re: Mitchell Report

Marion Jones pleaded guilty (not found guilty) on the whim of legal advice, and it was a great tactic. When you're indicted to a federal trial, the conviction rate is astounding. They won't just convict you on suspicion. If you are actually indicted to go to trial, there's a 95% chance (no that's not a stat I pulled out of my ass) that your ass is going to jail. So she pleaded guilty and took a plea deal, now she's in jail for a few months as opposed to a few years. As far as clemens saving receipts, I really don't see that as odd. I'm sure his accountant/financial adviser saves almost all of his expenses. Maybe it was a charity event or something, and they saved it for tax purposes. Saving a receipt is a hell of a lot more plausible than saving dirty syringes. But I still believe Mac...

I hear he came out and said Clemens wasn't at some party in '98 I think it was along with never talking to him about HGH and Steroids. Also, hearings start here in about 20 minutes. Anyone else gonna watch for the laughs?

Testimony is great. Constantly being reminded he is under oath.

Im watching this. All i can say as a Yankees fan living in boston is i am going to dread when they decide clemens is lying and was juicing during the time he was on the championship teams a few years back =/. I used to love him, and honestly if he were honest from the beginning about steroids u wouldnt mind so much because i think the majority of sports these days contain them. But his behavior, adamant denial, going from congressman to congressman to "talk," if he is found guilty, he will go down as one of the biggest fools in sports history.

Yeah, that black guy.. can't remember his name right now for the life of me, but his questions torwards Roger Clemens were just great. I'd say he was out to get him, and I think that's the case. Good thing is, I'm glad he was. He was looking to drown Clemens right there and that was just fucking awesome. Watching Clemens twist in the wind right now, kept going back to what he thinks of Pettite.. it was just hilarious.

As far as him just coming out, I wish he would have. I wouldn't have minded it as much and I'd look to him as I do with Pettite being honest (even though Andy Pettite didn't come forward about his 04 use until this past week), but still.. the way Clemens has done things now, I have no respect for him at all anymore. Still watching this though. It's been pretty good TV.

yeah... I'm going to have to change my mind about Clemens. As much as it hurts as a die hard Yankee fan, it just doesn't add up. He sounds like a fool testifying right now, I think theres a pretty good chance he's just flat out lying.

Boston fans really can't say shit though. Who knows how many Red Sox players were juicing in 2004 and it's just that no one knows about it yet. Things like this really shouldn't be about Yankees vs Red Sox or Yankees vs Mets or whatever. It's a sad day when the game is tainted like this and one of the all-time greats maybe wasn't that great after all. It calls a lot of things into question and goes beyond team rivalry, IMO.

    Re: Mitchell Report

Wow. The previous guy asking him questions really grilled Clemens there and you could tell Clemens was getting flustered as he had to turn back to his lawyer. That was just so awesome.. getting friggin' owned. D: This is the most fun I've had since the hearings with Sosa, Big Mac and what not.

Clemens is getting his ass handed to him right now. I guess he forgot that he's not dealing with Mike Wallace. These Congressmen actually follow up with their questioning

Well this new congressman is handing McNamee his ass pretty well right now. These guys are good at what they do.

QFT. That republican knew exactly what he was doing. He's by far been the most awesome congressman here. He did more than curb stomp McNamee there, for real.

I have to say one thing. These congressmen have done their research and know way more about the situation than the ones who did the hearing with Fehr and Selig.

I would say at this point, Clemens is actually winning this. McNamee is so fucking inconsistent, has to ask them to repeat questions over and over so he can think of some BS response, stalls, looks bewildered.

I can't watch it at work, or listen to it on ESPN radio, but I have my office radio on ESPNRadio on "The Herd", and they are playing clips. The clips of the guy reaming McNamee was amazing lol. These guys are doing much much better than the "Rafael Palmerie" crew.

I've been listening to the whole thing on the radio at work. It's not making Clemens look good, imo.

For the people making some Yankees vs. Red Sox statements... what relevance does that have? Eric Gagne and Brandon Donally were on the Sox last season when the won the Series. I'm sure there were players using stuff in '04. I'm sure there were Yankees using stuff (hi2u Giambino) before. Every team has been hit by it, so it's dumb to break it down to two teams.

I can't wait to hear these clips again on Sportscenter later tonight, and dude right now is reaming them both on how wrong they've been in this.

I didn't break the steroids era down to two teams. I am simply using this as a case study of the consequences, and it will be unavoidable. I can only see the new wave of anti-Roger jerseys in Boston, even though he won't be a Yankee aver again, set on navy blue or pin stripes, like the "Jeter sucks A-Rod" shirts. There is more history with Clemens than both those guys in Boston.

He was the star of the Red Sox during the mid/late 80s and early 90s. He then leaves them because they couldn't pay him enough and the anti-Clemens sentiment began. Then, he joins the Yankees, despised by Red Sox fans, and wins Championships with them, beating the Sox in the process of doing so. Clemens cannot play in Fenway without getting booed, which will of course be worse if ever plays there again after all this drama.
