    Patchwork WAR gear

after abandoning WAR for a long time, i have decided to get back in and level war to 75. Im really just raising it for Versatility; it will not be used much end-game wise cause i have BLM and RDM to 75 already. anyway, im wondering what would be a good gear setup for parties and basic gods.

    here is what i have

weapons: Byakko's, Tabarzin, joyouse ( i think i want to get either a Maneater or a wood'sville's here to complement the joyouse, which one would be better for Rampage spam?)
    ammo: bomb core
head: O-hat (if im only going to be using WAR for basic stuff, would W-turban really be worth the 200k or so for coins? i dont have any other haste gear, is 5% really going to do much?)
    neck: chivalrous chain
earrings : Coral earring, Flowing earring
    body: hauberk
    hands: warrior's mufflers
rings: Ruby rings. These are one thing i am concerned about, i really dont wanna buy snipers, what are some good alternatives; (cant get CoP or taou rings cause i need those rings for my mages)
    back: Amement mantle +1
    belt: Life belt
    pants: Barone
    feet: AF

thats what i have right now, im really most concerned about the head, the weapon and the Rings. any help for alternative gear would be nice. I am really only doing this so i can have a mage job and a melee job.

Work on getting a Man/woods for times you're not fighting birds or low def mobs, your gaxe is fine but perdu is good too.

Ohat is fine full time if you're only having 5% haste, but getting dusk gloves/uni feet would make it worth it, probably a 2.5m investment

Get snipers, using str rings is pretty fail for Rampage, the only other consideration is DEX rings but that's a situational setup based on having some Abj pieces.

Get swift belt if you can, and potent belt. You current gloves are good for WS.

Legs, try and get the AF2 if you're lacking haidate.

What DM earring do you have?
Get a Suppa if you can, really good for WAR/NIN in merit.

The Turban is really a great piece of gear, not many 5% haste with life pieces out there for 200k~ and thats if u buy the coins, and dont use IS.

    Re: Patchwork WAR gear

I recently sold my Woodville a few months back and have yet to regret it. Stick with Maneater if you can afford. Oh and definitely drop the IS on a turban. Probably the only piece that is universally good for any job.

for rampage it depends on the mob but i'd keep one acc ring on except in mire

Since you got Abyssal, abandon WAR and level DRK, save yourself trouble redoing DM.

lol im 74 WAR @ 20k, i think id be easier to do DM instead of bothering leveling a new job.

ok, so against Mamool use the acc rings, and against imps and coibri use STR?

    Re: Patchwork WAR gear

just a couple comments as your job combo prompts them for me-

    1. you say you have RDM and BLM already at 75, and WAR otw. Since this is a similar goal of mine, may I assume that you already have sword merits from RDM?

-if you have sword merits on RDM, can get a suppa instead of your abyssmal, I would think ME+joyeuse would be quite viable. At least that's what I plan on.

    2. RDM can solo Fire in the Sky as well as the item to open the displacements- word of advice- enter the 50 cap and solo the wyverns for the scale, as you'll only need 1 that way and will have refresh. RDM/BLM works fine. Bring some 40 cap gear as well and its cake, just CS-water2 away at him with gravity on. If after one Water II he does a self-destruct, switch to CS-stone2. Do that for a woodsman's ring, then buy one sniper's. Somewhat of a financial compromise.

    3. BTW RDM/WHM + BLU/NIN can duo the ENM for a Maneater quite easily. Was a total joke when I did it a few times with a friend who needed a Maneater (and I plan on harassing him soon when I start leveling WAR to resume this semi-static!). Only pain is climbing the damn Tor. Again a solution that will make your WAR better but not cost anything but time.

    4. Get the turban. Its a great convert piece too with the +30MP/30HP on it. And a Turban+Swift Belt+Dusk Gloves would make a nice start to a Haste build in my opinion..of course Haidate and Dusk Feet would make it all better, but 12% haste from Turban(5%), Belt(4%) and Gloves(3%) seems like a solid start for a person whom WAR would be a 3rd job.

I'm assuming that you're thinking of leveling this up for a similar purpose as I- to get merits a little easier on the brain versus RDM main healing and faster than BLM soloing/manaburning. If so, I'm interested to see your thoughts on it afterward. I'm getting quite sick of RDM meriting, and simply want to finish off Cat I and II merits for it and then move onto something else for Stats/HP/MP/Non-specific merits.

    1. no, no sword merits

    2. Man eater and joyouse is what i have decided on, and its working out great

    3. Yeah, WAR is ALOT easier for merits, RDM is pretty mind numbing, but WAR is actually pretty entertaining. but for HNM fights, RDM all the way.

I'd seriously make acc rings first priority. STR rings for tp is just kinda embarrassing.
