I'm sorry, if you like running around constantly with little action and looking for mobs every hour, then yeah WoTG is the shit. ToAU has a lot more content than WoTG, period.

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

From a personal POV, I have to disagree with the OP (didn't read the review, not going to). Pre-Wings, I would spend hours upon hours sitting in my MH watching my moogle spin. Waiting for besieged, waiting for LS people to want to do something, waiting for it to be late enough to log off and go to bed.

Post-Wings I've not done that once. Any downtime is filled up with Campaign. I've made many, many merits and more AN than I know what to do with, plus it's fun.

While I loved ToAU, Wings is actually keeping me busier and happier with FFXI.

    Edit: Made wording clearer.

wotg released 18 worthless zones that were all just recolors. With level ranges that are skewed for the mobs. ( I don't think there should be a part of the zone that level 20's don't get agro and a part not too far away that 75s get aggro @).

As said above the assault system had more at implementation rather than talk to a npc, check a craft list talk again and get exp.(though its nice for leveling lower level jobs hopefully get 500 each laterz)

TOAU had more exp camps and not to mention sanction which revolutionzed exp as we know it today. WOTG will never have post 50 camps because of the no sanction bonus exp type deal. (Though I'd be quite happy if they made exp camps pre 50 because auto refresh and regen at lower levels is win).

Also Dancer is far from broken, on kited mobs its near useless and on most hnms its useless because they can't hit accurately enough or they'll hit for zeros. Not to mention they become vulnerable to AOE attacks so the TP They get they'll just spend it curing themselves to make up for the damage they've taken. If i'd suggest anything on dancer at the very least lower the tp costs a bit for the higher level cures and also lower the recast timers.

Hmm... i rarely run around... i usually find my mobs within a few minutes... and there is a lot of action... are you sure this is WotG you're talking about right? ToAU has more content, i'll give you that, but WotG has Better content, at least IMO, so far (by better i mean More fun and more worthwhile)

yeah this was mainly what i was going about and failed to mention... WotG has more things to do... its *gasp* fun
I mean i can get merits/exp quick and easy, no need to LFP for hours, in fact.... i can get Exp/Limitpoints WHILE i LFP...

I mean i absolutely HATED having nothing to do, i was pretty glad when SE added pankration, i mean there was actually somthing i could do while lfp or waiting for a LS event... even though it only lasted a few days to a week i enjoyed it >.> after that i would find myself either LFP for hours.. or in the same damn PT killing IMPS (</3 imps) or Colibri, which gets old after a while... until WotG

    so... WotG still is >>>>>>ToAU

Why does it feel like I've seen this before...

and I'd rather do other stuff around the house than get shitty exp at campaign, and then later join an actual party and get the same/more exp in a less amount of time.

This is one thing I will agree with - in terms of being able to go out and do something by yourself without having to rely on finding other people to do it with, WoTG wins hands down. I just wish there was more purpose to said activities.

WotG has tons of new exp camps to eliminate the grind of lvl 10-55 (lvl 50s trying to kill colibri makes me lol, its pathetic and not worth the effort) that alone is a step in the right direction. Sigil makes low level exp smoother and less of a bore. Post 53-55 when everyone goes to AU, while the sanction exp is awesome and whatnot its nothing that cant be compared to having an exp camp to yourself in most if not all ideal conditions. (stack all the downtime ive had in AU camps waiting for shit to respawn gets old fast.)

To the OP, security has nothing to do with this xpac - SE fails at that we know regardless.

Mainly i think WotG had a pathetic start, but dont count it out due to the fact it has the best potential of all the other xpacs we've seen.

    Campaign rocks, beats Besieged anyday.

Sprinters Shoes rock, access to Runic Portal system is great in the past and the exp camps for midlvls are desirable.

WotG: Incomplete? hell yes. Potential? hell yes. Half-Baked? not quite.

Whats worse is how long SE takes to update something so premature.

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

My opinion on why I liked ToAU release more than WoTG release.

Cerberus: Algol which is a pretty pwn ass GS for ppl who like to use GS. Cerb Mantle is pwn and when HQ'ed is the best melee mantle.

pwn ass merit camps, although to be fair they shortchanged the fuck out of blms.

Assaults were great, it offered the best nuking blm boots, great hmp set ups for mages, good melee boots in amir + nice gloves for rdm in yigit plus a good alternative for blms who couldn't get their hands on zenith mitts.

pwn ass headpeice in the w.turban that completely shocked the hell out of the community to the point where we couldn't believe that SE allowed us to get such an awesome peice from exping by turning IS into goldcoins. From the getgo IS meant a lot more than AN currently does.

I like how there's at least 10 threads on this same topic. How about we quit nit-picking this expansion until they actually complete it. Instead of creating thread after thread after thread.. if you don't like it, you can /wrist about wasting your twenty dollars, and keep your ass in TAU. At least until they add more things to make it more appealing. Comparing one expansion to another is like apples and oranges, they're supposed to be different. Why would we want the same thing again? Give it time.

(As for the title; of course it's an incomplete product, has any of their expansion ever been released as 100% complete? Try about 10%, if that.)

MMORPGs will always get shitty reviews. From a normal person's standpoint, yes this expansion is horrible and isn't worth more than 10 dollars. Pacman has more content and fun gameplay than WOTG does. But we're addicted to FFXI, and the people defending WOTG probably don't played any other online game or MMO. I'd give WOTG a 3 out of 10.

Can't blame people for being mad when they feel gipped, from all these threads that pop up it would seem a lot of people are disappointed with WoTG release >.>

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

The only actual point to WOTG at this point is to keep up enough AN so I don't blow right through it using sprinters too quickly. Otherwise it's there to be done for the sake of it, which the novelty of wore in about a week. For those of us who don't have buffer or "finding things to do" problems, it's nice but this...

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

I agree it somewhat fails on it's release, but in my opinion they all did. It takes time for the expansion to develop as a whole, and everyones getting their panties in a bunch because the release sucked, lol. Like I said, give it time, when they say it's complete and it still sucks, we have a legitimate gripe to SE.

They obvoiusly release it almost barebones on purpose, to see how we react to something new, then they build up off of our reactions. Take beseiged for example. First it was too easy, and somewhat repetative. So they beefed it up, and added more NM's and whatnot.. They saw we liked assault, so they added Nyzul Isle.

Still not sure what the fuck they were thinking with Einherjar.

I do however agree there should be something like a 10-15 mission minimum for releasing an expansion, to keep us at least somewhat busy while they come up with updates.

I'd post in this thread, but Milkman is a complete and total idiot that makes himself more of a fool on the internet than the rest of us manage to do. So I don't give a damn about his article.

Oops, I posted in this thread.

Yea Cavernous maws are made of win, but I feel with OPs and maws make airships useless. They should do something to make them iunno. I personally think they should just sell private airships that'd be cool. <,< More fun than private dungeons anyway just my opinion

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

Seeing as I was in the midst of taking a break when ToAU first came out, I can't comment too much on that release. However, WotG right now is hardly what I'd consider a failure. Campaign is nice for those who dislike xping on lolibris or imps or who want to get some xp while lfp.

However, I do agree that WotG feels a bit light on meaningful stuff to do. The quest lines in the 3 cities are nice, but beyond that, there isn't much. Campaign Ops don't have much meaning or challenge to them right now, and I don't see that changing until future patches when harder Campaign Ops are added in.

There also is a lack of non-Campaign NMs, which is somewhat disapointing.

fighting the same groups of monsters over and over with no real consequence
    Ohithere colibri.

MMORPGs will always get shitty reviews. From a normal person's standpoint, yes this expansion is horrible and isn't worth more than 10 dollars. So you were elected by the billions of "normal" people in the world to speak for them. Why wasn't I given this memo that you're such an important person who is evidently qualified to speak for anyone other then himself.

For me, I've beaten WoW and I like WotG so far. I do agree WotG is light on content, but I'm waiting to make any definitive judgements for the next large content update. The dev team did state in the fan fest that the meatier content was planned for the January update.
