Fighting g.colibri gives you at least twice, probably 3, and possibly 4 times as much xp as campaign does, as well as doing it on a mob by mob basis so you cant get fucked by lagging out, by stupidly quick-ending campaigns, by dieing and not being raised and so fourth.

I don't know about you, but I fucking hate meriting on colibris as a melee.

What's that? Feather tickle? Guess I'll have to auto attack more instead of doing something else besides casting utsusemi.

What's that? I could be doing significantly more damage if I could eat food? Too bad I tank nearly full time when I use food, so it gets snatched away quickly. Don't care to use as much food as shihei in a merit party.

What's that? There's five parties at the colibri camp? No I don't fucking want to xp there. Lets go xp on trolls instead.
"But trolls have Diamondhide that would ruin xp...."
FIGHTING ONLY ONE COLIBRI EVERY FEW MINUTES WOULD RUIN XP.
    /rant

Campaign is a lot more fun to me than meriting on lolibris. I don't care that I get a bit less xp from doing so as long as it's a meaningful amount of xp.

Meh, they were all mediocre players. Not zam geared, but nothing special. That and when I merit, it's on monk.

I still don't like meriting on colibris though. I don't feel that I can play my job to the full extent of what it's capable of, and that's not fun to me.

Someone who picked up the game for the first time wouldn't be doing any WotG related stuff for a long time.

Why not? There's plenty of low level places to exp, campaign ops can be done from low levels, campaign can be done at low levels as a mage or /mage. The quests/missions can be done easily if you just tag along with someone high enough level to solo the one fight per nation. In fact pretty much everything in WotG can be done by new players.... :rocl:

And not that it's relevant to the topic, but I don't see why people complain about food at colibri. I do more damage without food to colibri than I do to mamools/trolls with. Not to mention it's not hard to bring some fucking mithkabobs, especially with the 10 extra inventory everyone just got.

Considering how many of the higher level players levelling new jobs don't care to do the low levels places to xp (going off the beaten path scares people), I don't see a new player xping there in parties either.

To get to any of the cities in the past, a low level would have to do extensive travelling in areas where anything that does aggro will aggro and use you like a piece of meat. Unless the low level is a WHM or RDM, I don't see him/her affording enough silent oils/prism powders to do so. So scratch out Campaign Ops and Campaign.

As for tagging along with a higher level player, well, not every new player has a high level connection in the game. Don't forget that all content would be new content to the player, so there wouldn't be any particular urge to go visit WotG areas over other areas in game.

Takes time to eat food as well. And as for the amount of damage done to colibris or mamools/trolls, I don't notice too large a difference (barring certain jobs of mamools/trolls of course).

And my inventory space is still low . I need to get rid of some shit.

Yeah, it totally makes sense to compare WotG, a month old, to ToAU, which is now what, 20 months old?

Seems like everyone just wanted ToAU 2. Heaven forbid the just released expansion be anything different.

I remember people saying the same thing when ToAU came out; it will be impossible to set up exp pts, not everyone will have the runic portals, people won't want to leave old areas, etc. Not to mention there are tons of good low-mid level SOLO areas in WotG, as early as level 10.

Yeah, kind of like how new players never make it to jeuno right? Oh wait... :elmer:

Yeah, it is soloable there. My point remains though about actually getting there in the past first.

You can avoid all aggro walking to Jeuno if you're careful, without needing any silent oils or prism powders. It is not possible to avoid all aggro when going to any of the 3 cities in WotG without some form of sneak and invis.

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

I would agree with the review myself, it does feel a bit lacking at the moment.

New jobs are kinda disappointing. I would want SCH at 75, but I don't foresee myself smiling as I go EXP as a SCH with their gimpy spell list... DNC is, I don't know, the AF is pretty, but as everyone said, it's lacking in endgame, but as with COR or PUP, SE will eventually fix them.

What made me think it's "incomplete" is the lack of things to do, the so-called new zones are just using the same old zones we have for the last 5 years or however long the game has been out for, changing the skybox and adding new static meshes onto it, which isn't all that much work, there are just 3 new zones really. Campaign is fun, and good EXP for lazybum like myself that couldn't even get myself to get up to Mount Z. to manaburn flan, but that's really all there is to do; I don't even know how I can steal Lolanberry from Bastok for example(what's the point of having other nation's influence bar if you can't increase it?); the only thing to do in campaign is camp /cmap, go join any fight you see(ignore dungeon campaigns) with 0 regard of the nation stuffs. And Campaign Ops? Kinda boring if you ask me, soloable, but nothing challenging.

So for $30, I have bought:
DNC + SCH, which are still waiting for AF and fixes; 3 new zones and several revamped zones; retextured monsters and a couple of new monsters; a very bad AN item list(you gotta admit assault item list was a lot better, and more avaliable for everyone); campaign battle which seems to be EXP than actually "helping your nation wards off beastmen while stealing your allies' lands", aka. incomplete; and campaign Ops that are just I don't know what the hell are they for(given the reward and difficulty, ID should recharge more often).

I would say it's pretty incomplete, everything will be eventually fixed, but do you buy a car, get inside, stick your key in, turns, only to find out that the engine isn't going to be fitted 2 years later? But hey, you can argue it's a completed product because it would be fixed in the future? I would say that you bought an incomplete car in that case, and it is pretty much what WotG is giving at launch. Yes everything will be fixed eventually(or SE could choose to forget about it like the rest of the broken things we have), but when they release an expansion pack, it needs more content than what we have now.

Overall, I do enjoy the new expansion, campaign is my source of merit nowaday, and I camp it religiously: agaIII 15+ monsters at once with 0 regard to the consequences(EXP loss) is just addicting. But I would still say that WotG is a bit lacking at the moment.

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

Don't get me wrong, I think SE laid great ground work for WoTG by not clogging zones up with a lot of true sight aggro. I wouldn't of been mad had they delayed the expansion by a month or two to add something ls's could have on their schedules, 1 worthwhile HNM like a cerberus. I do think its a little unfair to be mad about no chocobo's because they did the same thing for ToAU, SE wanted us to get used to navigating the past on foot.

The first 2008 patch better be epic, I know SE will deliver on this expansions story, but we need something LS oriented. Cerberus kept endgame linkshells pretty busy for the first few months of ToAU.

You can avoid all aggro walking to Jeuno if you're careful, without needing any silent oils or prism powders. It is not possible to avoid all aggro when going to any of the 3 cities in WotG without some form of sneak and invis.

Plus try watching a new level 1-10 player run through grauberg and suck down chigoe aggro -- theres no point in accessing any of the new content in WotG -- you can't get decent xp from campaign, the ops don't give money, which is what a new player needs more than anything, and the majority of the quests that involve going outside of town are completely hazardous and filled with mobs that aggro.

I can't think of any reasons why a new player would go to WotG towns, short of just to go. Hell, they don't know the plot, so they're not even going for a nostalgia factor, or to see old faces.

That being said, this expansion is doing fine. In terms of the "worst" expansion, CoP drove more people from FFXI than any expansion created, and certainly didn't become "good" until nearly a year after its initial delivery. Hell, there weren't even any new jobs. Homam, the fomor, and the torques are the only real things I liked that came out of it, save for small bits of the plot.

Yeah, it's not like you could sell the equipment you purchase with the AN.

You guys really overestimate how difficult it would be to farm for a couple stacks of oils/powders for a new player(easier than getting an airship pass to kazham probably...), and it's not like you need 9/9 maws to do anything either. Just getting to sandoria for example would get you sprinter's shoes, campaign access, campaign ops access, and good solo, and low-mid level exp area in east ron.

I just wonder why there's been so many of these threads about people crying over the expansion. It's okay if you don't like the expansion and are disappointed, but why does every single person feel the need to share it with everyone else?

You don't like the game? You think SE sucks? Go do something else.

It must be convenient to make up points no one ever said to respond to.
