Yeah, it's not like you could sell the equipment you purchase with the AN.
Alright, so we're going to have a brand new, level 1-10 player spam OPs and try to spam 9-10 cures per entire campaign fight for well over a few weeks in an attempt to rank up to star, just to try to sell those sets?

You do realize that they scale your campaign awards based on level, right? A level 1-10 is likely to get all of 150 max per run -- it would take them longer to get the required allied notes than it would to rank up to star level.

Roll your eyes all you want -- its terribly illogical to try to pawn off the fact that new players "could" participate and sell. They'd be better off actually leveling and progressing than trying to stack 100 allied notes per 20 minutes of standing around and curing.

Granted, milkman is a joke, but the topic was in reference to the article. That said, you can think the expansion is woefully pointless and not hate the game/want to quit. You people need to stop opening up with your lameass boring canned "QQ more" responses when it's fucking obvious none of you even read it in the first place.

Why do you read, and take the time to respond to, every thread that complains about the expansion or a maintenance? For the same reason that people who make those threads/posts complain about their area of disappointment - we have a vested interested in FFXI being good, and receiving good expansions/updates. What are you achieving by saying nothing and/or quiting the game when you are disappointed with it? Absolutely jack. SE has shown in recent times that they are finally taking note, and have made many changes that have been 3 or 4 years in the making. Making noise about something is a good way to get it noticed.

Again, the very same way that no-one is forcing people to play an expansion or a game that they don't like, no-one is forcing you to read a thread you don't like. I am sure you can tell what the thread is about by reading its title, so if you don't like the idea, just don't click it, ok? The fact is a lot of people are somewhat disappointed with the latest expansion for a game which they have spent a good 3 to 4 years on, and telling them "don't like it? Oh well, tough luck" is as useless as it gets, more useless even than their complaining in the first place.

Actually, I did read the whole thread. Did you? Go compare it to the "A little disappointing?" thread.

If anyone made a new post about how finding out how to pop AA sucks or god forbid, made a post about how direction affects HQ, etc, what's going to happen? They're going to get slammed, because there's a ton of information on that already. This could have easily been posted on the other "Let's rate WoTG" threads.

Like I said, it's perfectly fine to hate WoTG right now, some people enjoy the solo content (among other things) while others don't. Why not keep the congregated bitching in one place?

I don't believe I have posted in every thread that regards WoTG, look at my post count, I obviously go around on EVERY post on these forums throwing my opinion around. Once you read the same shit over and over, you finally feel the right to say "Hey! A few hundred other people feel the same way as you, go commiserate in their thread."

Please, go back to your regularly scheduled bitch fest, I'm sure it'll only take 100 more threads, before the general population is tired of hearing about it.

Ninja edit: Rereading it, I think a better way of getting it noticed is when there's one thread, detailing all of the problems. Although no matter what SE does, they're not going to make everyone happy. Besides that, wouldn't that be more noticeable than a few 5-6 pages threads scattered about everywhere?

To be honest, I don't even know what 5-6 page threads you are talking about. Unless you count the fact that various WoTG topics end up degenerating into related problems surrounding said topic (for example, a thread about campaign ops will obviously degenerate into the fact that campaign ops are largely 2 minute fluff quests), there are hardly any "WoTG SUCKS" threads in any event. There aren't any besides this one on the first two pages of either the advanced or wotg forums, so which threads exactly are you talking about?

This thread was created on the basis of a new article written by someone who, although largely disliked, is still well know by a lot of the community, so probably had cause for comment.

If you are talking about the complaining about maintenance threads, there has been a thread complaining about maintenance at least as often as there has been a maintenance for the duration of FFXI, if you aren't used to that by now, I doubt you ever will be.

Feel free to hate on the expansion, there are plenty of reasons to do so, but don't make up some crap about it being an incomplete launch.

I can go back and look up the exact threads if you'd like, but there was one entitled "Meh" and there was another entitled "A little disappointing?" and various others between the advanced forums and the bg-wiki wotg forums. I guess I came across a little harsher than I meant to, but any other topic of grief would be told to keep it one thread, I don't see why this one is any different.

i dont get how quickly people forget cop. that set the bar for a complete fail expansion launch. toau to me at least was complete win, and wotg falls somewhere in between. i can understand some complaints but this is getting wayyyy too much then it deserves if you ask me

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

While I very much so enjoy WotG , It won't stop me from giving it a 3 / 10 rating.

It is very incomplete, doesn't offer content for all the players, or even a majority, just people who enjoy PvE.

HNMs suck mighty cock in my opinion, but still where are the HNM for people who like to waste their lives staring at the empty patches untill they pop?

Why was Scholar's magic list and abilities advertized as the /sam of mages, yet in practice , only WHM can make use of the SJ without sacrificing survivability or utility? Also why is it known as a mage that can swap between black and white proficiency on the fly, yet, their current spell list is very lopsided towards BLM nukes?

Campaign ops feel very lackluster apon completion on the first time doing the majority of them, I did all the assaults and most of them were very fun and unique, these were bleh at best, but they did offer huge chunks of AN points which was good - especially now that the higher rank items are released and unlike ToaU, these first few ranks have really good things in there (great convert/haste/refresh wand for RDM, non-aggro striders for all jobs lvl1, etc).

Still has a whole feeling of incomplete. I wish they did string us along a good story and then leave us at a cliffhanger, we barely met anyone new, we barely got a dabble of what's going on aside the fact that both sides are confused about these new spiffy Maws, and omg did anyone notice the regal feline?

I have no doubts that it'll get patched into a great expansion, although I don't feel it'll happen at the pace that ToaU got it's awesomeness, since it's lolcop team who's working on this one.

CoP was the ugly fat chick at high school who always reeked of urine and you wanted nothing to do with, and later on became to be a semi decent attractive lady after a few years of maturing and tuning up. That's what will happen to this expansion.

I concur! This expansion is yet to reveal itself, and as LW rightly said the lolcop team are working on this, it can only reveal its going to be a few months before this becomes fantastic for everyone. However I still like its current additions but it does feel its lacking something..

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

I don't really get what made this expansion seems so "Complete" to everyone. Sure, I have no doubt that DNC and SCH would get their AF one day, with may be some more tweeking to their job so they become useful or less useless(like how COR and PUP were updated); sure, campaign will eventually be updated that we actually have to care about the influence bars; sure, there will be campaign OPs that are fun and interesting; and sure, there will be new and better AN items; oh and last and not least, surely eventually there will be new HNM for these zones, and whatnot fun content to be added.

But seriously, do you really buy, say a PSP, that has no firmware, no game, no buttons, no screen, all you got is the empty casing and knowing that firmware would come 4 months later, 1 boring game would come 2 months later, buttons will be fitted 7 months later and the screen be installed 5 months later? It doesn't make a product complete that things are eventually coming out in the future, does it?

Yes, this is the way SE has been working the past couple of centuries, before dinosaurs extinct or whatnot, but does this mean it is the right way of doing it if they kept doing it? If I kill 40 people, does that mean the last 35 I killed are right because people accepted the fact that I am a serial killer? SE should realise their mistake and make better launch, not the same old excuses everytime. Fixes are something that have to come after it goes live, because they need players' responses especially for an online game; contents however need to come with the expansion that we paid for.

Saying this expansion is "incomplete" doesn't automatically mean we "hate" it, the world has more than black and white to it(it's not always "love" or "hate"), we can like the game, but hate the expansion. As for now, even though I do like the game, I would advice my friends who haven't got the expansion to not get it yet, and that all they would get currently is campaign for easy EXP at higher levels, and I don't think any of you calling "everyone is QQing, it's the end of the world!!!" people have anything to disprove that, do you?

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

    A few thoughts:

#1) SE definitely is always concerned about their pocketbooks. This expansion was released early because it was on a timetable and they wanted it out for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Its obviously going to be fleshed out because just look at ToAU precident.

#2) This expansion was designed to not eclipse the previous expansions and gears, mainly to add zones and encounters. Instead of content of items, they put in content of playability and exploration. That being said, I expect there is some bombass reward at the end of the missions like suppa/ethereal/raja's/balrahns.

#3) CoP was great. The only thing that needed fixing was AV and seagod droprates (just like salvage droprate btw). I ran CoP missions when it was still on crack and that to date has been the funnest and most worthwhile part of ffxi. Rewards in CoP have always been amazing just like RoZ and ToAU so people complaining about CoP expansion are just sissys.

#4) People complaining about WotG are just blind and antsy, either quit or have some dam patience. I personally took option 3 and haven't bought the expansion yet. I'm content to wait until its worthwhile. Plenty of other stuff to do.

Re: WotG: A Half-baked, Incomplete Product?

There's a lot of people addressing many different things, too much to be able to fit into one post, so I'll just address the OP.

that a 5.5 score is being extremly generous in light of glaring issues with account security and several broken aspects of the expansion.
As said before, security issues have nothing to do with the expansion pack.

    What other "broken aspects?"

Sure, campaign battles and such are good, but in terms of substantive content, 3 missions that maybe requires all of 1 fight
    ZM 1-3 are cutscenes.
CoP fight started with Promys, and we all know how much people LOVED Promys.
ToAU? LOL! The first fight you really got was mission 13! I'm not including Jody's Acid either. But if you do, that's mission 12. All the previous missions are (in my opinion) lackluster cutscenes and *gasp* running around!

So your point is extremely moot. Next?

more running around than all of CoP combined.
Do you even have the expansion pack? Are you aware of the NPC in the 3 nations that teleports you to the fortress of any outside area for a small amount of Allied Notes? The only people complaining about travel time are the lazy ones who didn't get their maws.

Dancer is overpowered and just crys out nerf
A lot of people felt that way about BLU too, and BLU's are getting along just fine. I'm sure DNC will find its place as well.

You're still left with a product that is not only lacking in initial content, but has also required multiple emergency maintenences to get to even a reasonable point of playability.
Name an expansion pack that didn't have emergency maintainences.

    SE Windower
SE doesn't manufacture a lot of PC games, if any at all. (I'm not aware of any personally) Instead, they just port them. I think anyone with half a brain knew from the beginning SE's Windower was gonna be crap simply because SE is pretty much a console/handheld gaming company.

Okay this has been bugging me since the release. Is it the whole CoP team working on this expansion? Because from what I read it was just the director.

Either way, I was excited as hell when I finally got my hands on the expansion here in Germany and was disappointed just as much when I finished all the released missions in two days. Campaign is fun but it really is just a distraction until you find something to do. ToAU >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WotG >> CoP at launch, people are either drunk/high or retarded to disagree otherwise.

INCOMPLETE, Period. Even now ToAU jobs are still INCOMPLETE. Where are BLU, PUP, COR's af+1, relic, relic+1 ? It's almost 2 years and SE cannot deny this shit/lame fact.
