Almighty Apkallu: Found, and then lost again.

Have to understand no one was testing/searching for it it hardcore up until now, so it's very possible that he coulda been hopping on and off ships all this time under everyone's noses. Keep in mind Az Staging points make using the boat borderline useless. In fact I've never really used the boat unless the AC was stolen. That there is even less of a chance to see AA pop.

I'm thinking Pergo and some others may disagree.

Um, that's just my point, "Pergo and some others" weren't alot of ppl say, 6-9 months ago, when the interest in this NM was basically dead to mostly everyone. :rocl: After these two BG threads and esp Fanfest, interest in the NM picked up once again. So it should be normal that someone would find the NM eventually with more ppl looking out.

There were also a lot of people riding the boat solo or in small groups back when that whole sanguine sword rumor was flying around, and no sightings than either, other than idiots claiming to see it on the wrong boat.

And you people crying it's still broken, are you even bringing another person on the boat in party?

I have. Not alot but I'm sure others have alot and it isn't in the .dats as popped/killed. Or mabe no one even trys (which mabe the case).

Been riding boat back and forth for the past 8 hours now, and about two hours ago Proteus popped on the ferry to Nashmau. Since then I have not seen a single Apkallu on the ferry from Nashmau. I dunno if this is just some strange coincidence or not.

I'm gonna continue onward to see when the next Proteus pop is, all the while watching the other route for any strange Apkallu activity.

Question...weren't some of the memory dumps that showed AA had popped taken soon after server maintenance? If so, how could being in a party be a pop condition? How many parties are logging out in Nashmau just to ride the boat back?

I am honestly starting to believe that being in a party is not a pop condition. It just seems that way because the 3 or so sightings have happened to be when they are in parties. I have camped this bird for a long long time now, with and without a party. I think it boils down to just having a rediculous pop condition or luck. The fact that it has popped on some servers and not others is strange but what could that be?
The only thing I can think of is have someone from every server list if its popped or not and then try and determine differences between each servers various conditions, while searching for common themes.
At the moment I have been camping in the small hope that Ill get that miniscule bit of luck and it pops. But if it does finally pop I may regret not trying to focus my once in a lifetime piece of fractional luck into winning the lottery or something as currently, I think they are about the same odds.

At the moment I dont know if its even popped yet on Ramuh. Call me dumb but I cant make heads nor tails of Artmoney. Even looking at the explanation.... Anyone else on Ramuh able to check this?

So the 'have to have a party' bit is false. It has popped with one person on the boat and not in a party.

Spent a few hours on the boat this weekend and didn't see anything, in PT w/ 2-3 ppl.

Few notes:

First off, neither apkallu 7 or AA are in memory on Midgard yet. Only apkallu 8 ever showed up.

Sad to say but the fact that this only ever shown in memory on a small # of servers really points to a Rose Garden type of deal. Perhaps 7 is the intermediate spawn w/ AA being the 2nd one. Has AA been seen in memory when 7 still hasn't made an appearance? Did the guys who fought AA kill apkallu previous to it popping? I notice in their screenshots there is an apkallu as well as AA.

I rode the boat w/ mules in different directions at the same time, and on every boat, without fail, if there was an apkallu up, whoever was on the boat IMMEDIATELY kills it. Its like people are drawn to them. Even guys skilling up fishing would stop fishing to go kill an apkallu if it pops w/in view.

I know rose garden pop condition has been brought up before, but it really explains well why many servers have never seen it. (I didn't notice it in debunked list on first page, ride for 12hrs and see no apkallus killed to debunk? Anyone done/seen this?)

Mix rose garden w/ a boat instance where you can't just afk and review logs to see people kill the apkallus, and we've got just the type of sadistic crap SE revels in.

If you read their posts, at least one of them said they afk'd every trip and the only thing they killed was one Kraken that aggro'd. So no, they didn't kill anything.

As I've personally never seen 7, some info from ppl who have seen 7 either in memory or popped would be helpful.

Have you seen 7 up on its own, or is 7 only show up when 8 is already up?
I think I remember an earlier post saying 7 and 8 were both up on same boat ride.


7 is the indicator that AA window is open?

I'd posit that 8 is the normal, and once the rose garden time period condition is met, AA is a lottery off of 7.

We believe the reason that none have ever encountered him before is that while many adventurers ride the ferry to Nashmau, most either warp back to their Home Points on the mainland, or return to Al Zahbi via the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins.

Iirc, people haven't been able to nail down a repop time on Proteus. Perhaps both of these NMs repop once a certain amount of people have ridden the boat for a certain amount of time? I know everytime I head to Einherjar with a few of my LS members, Proteus always pops. I don't believe this theory has been thrown out there yet and figured I'd toss it out there. Possibly what SE was hinting at in the above answer? Who knows, it's worth a shot... Now, if someone can get their entire LS to ride the boat with them...

I went back today approx. 21 hours after I got my ass handed to me bt Proteus and lo and behold, he popped on the second ride I took from Whitegate > Nashmau. But asking around I've had a few people tell me they've seen him twice in one day, so that kinda ruled out my 21-24 hour pop cycle. But also, yet again, the next four rides back from Nashmau produced absolutely no Apkallu at all. On the fifth ride, I saw two Apkallu on the deck at the same time, but one despawned almost as soon as I stepped onto the deck...

After that ride, it went back to one Apkallu every 2-3 rides.
