I heard that Bahamut II drop rates were better if you didn't melee burn them. It sounded bogus but I thought I might as well look in to it. Has anybody else heard this before, and does it seem like a substantiated claim?

Haven't heard it but can you tell you straight up it doesn't matter how you kill it if you don't have a THF.
Take a THF.
Done BLM Style and have had very shitty drops. _-_
Done it both ways, drops have sucked with or without a THF at times.
You'll always get a staff, and you'll always get either Hose, Mask or Scythe.
TH probably effects any money items you'll get (Kunwu, Cashmere, etc.)
TH definitely affects the money drops. All the screenshots Ive seen of B2 fights with less than 6 drops were w/o thf.
It shouldn't matter on how you kill the mobs. THF definitely effects the money drops tho.
TH affects the money drops, you always get static drops for lolDragon Staff/Bahamut's Staff and Mask/etc.
Bahamut staff is usually like 1/5 chance I believe in most linkshell's experiences. Mask/Zagnhal/pants is probably equal chance to get drop and you get unlucky with it.
;; Zag is pretty good for DRKs without k-clubs ;; lolOriginally Posted by Seditedi
Yeah, but the pants are lol.
The best is the mask![]()

This was our most recent Baha2 with a THF taken on 12/1/07. We always mana burn and have always had pretty shitty drops imo. I'm sure TH helps, but we always seem to get the short end in terms of money drops. Also, after at least 15+ mana burned B2's, I'm quite sure that mana burning won't help your drops.
Sometimes you will get skunked even with a THF, but you will get skunked a lot more often without one. Normally I will joke around and call Treasure Hunter a placebo, but Bahamut vII is one of those fights where TH does make a lot of difference.
Seriously, take a THF, your loot pool will thank you.
