fixed, kthx.Originally Posted by Lyramion
Kind of funny how every makes this out to be so hard. Our group tried it for the first time and it was pretty easy for us. Ran up, THF Flee'd and aggro'd everything, 4 people grabbed Ramparts, 2 people even took a few seconds to grab theirs' because they ran out of range. Killed the 4 Ramparts with ease and pulled/killed CC while we had like 4 Reinforcements and the Gear Train aggroing us. Just slept the train. CC is a joke btw, makes Adamantoise look hard. I used a Fanatic's and Spy's Drink I found, ended up Countering 10/12 attacks against me during the Fanatic's anyways and he died in about 1-2m with just a NIN and MNK on him. (THF far away from training and the BLM and RDMs busy with adds.) Hardest thing about this was prolly not out-running the slow ass Ramparts.
Just be ready to go before you zone up and make sure people know what to do. If you are smart, it's easy.
judai
everything is easy
but making it drop is harddddddddddd
45 and countinggggggggggg
Yea, just so many people say some things are so hard and we did it and I was like.. that was it? I mean, pulling shit was easy, even though 2 of our pullers were mages and the mobs ran out of range, they still had time to run them down and pull easy. Killed the Ramparts easy.. and CC is a joke, lol. Killed him with so many adds.Originally Posted by Arthars

Where people stand to fight turtle when they fight in the middle of the area where gears run?

Hello.
Don't know if this will help, but the way we usually do it:
Search the chests until I (I'm usually on THF) find a Fanatic's drink. Once that's acquired, we wait for the gear train to arrive, at which point I pop the drink, let them whack at me for awhile, until people pull and sleep them. In hindsight, this step is probably unnecessary, but helps to have whoever's aggroing/sleeping them/whatever have that physical immunity.
Afterwards we blast thorugh the gears pretty fast. They're not especially strong, seem to sleep easily and go down fast with the right set up. To speed things up, though, we usually have our Monk (or both) pop Hundred Fists to take out the gears faster.
After the gear train is dead, if there happens to be another fanatic's drink, I grab that, take a few people with me into the rampart room. Pop the drink (or if there's a lack of drink, perfect dodge) run around, aggro everything in the room until the pullers have their respective ramparts, then haul ass to the area near the portal.
When done right, I usually shake the train and am still alive. The rest of the team plows through the ramparts pretty fast. As everyone else said, Citadel Cockbag makes Adamantoise look like a joke.
We usually do it with around 8. The reason we kill the gear train is that if we're bothering to farm the Usukane bodypiece, we're not bothering with the boss, as we usually do Hammerblow -> Powderkeg -> Gyro gears or Citadel.
My group was fortunate, we got our first drop within five kills.
Unfortunately we have yet to get a drop from Powderkeg.
Or a Macha's coat.
. . Or a 35 Ares body.
Furthermore, Armored Chariot seems to find it funny to continually toss mass quantities of Skadi Legs and Marduk Bodies at us, rather than Morrigan Feet to finish our first pair.
On top of that Battleclad Chariot likes to drop nothing but Usukane Bodies for us.
. . . So before you blast me for the luck there, I'd say we fucking earned that that Hikazu Hara-Ate.
Think I saw a screenshot of someone doing it at the corner to the South of the room with the 4x ramparts.Originally Posted by Kaylia
They lined up as close to that corner as possible then they had to watch for magic aggro when the train passed so couldn't cast while that was happening. It's probably under the silver sea thread somewhere, but too lazy to find itlol
I would drink the blood of many small, cute, furry things if it would make 25 Skadi legs drop. Please give some back to our ACs, kthx.Originally Posted by Ayn

i tried all...
smn pull, sac aggro pull 4 ramaprts but for some reason ramaprts kill the pullers or deaggro or something ahppend, and always gear traun fucked us up badly....
Soo i thinking i will wait for the gear train and make blm get fanatic drink, let them come, use drink 2 hour aga them and last spell sleepga so the melee can kill the one that didnt die... or have 2 blms do the same but we need 2 fanatics, then pull the ramparts..
we always pop citadel with 1 min left on clock...
Spend less time farming other NM's then lol, the more you practice the better you'll get. Sometimes you just need to focus on one thing until you can do it quickly. You could probably go East > port > Gyros > and be at CC floor with 50m left.
Very true. The way I do it with my group is just get the essentials from floor 1 then GTFO. My group does most of their cell farming on floor 2 so after about 40 mins in, we're all almost geared and we can rush up to the Eastern part of floor 3 and quickly kill the NM there.Originally Posted by Churchill
The only problem is we still haven't gotten the pull down correctly for floor 4 without tons of links. Reading this thread helps though, thanks.
If you farm Keg then yeah that's a good plan, you can cut out the exterior rooms on east and farm kegs room while you pop it, you'll have enough magic after the last fomor room anyway.
Yeah. We mostly farm Keg anyways since Slops are in high demand and the cells from that path are good.Originally Posted by Churchill
Things change a little bit when going for Deadpan but that's it.
K, I'll get right on it.I would drink the blood of many small, cute, furry things if it would make 25 Skadi legs drop. Please give some back to our ACs, kthx.
Also echo the sentiment of what people say about just focusing on one big thing first. You'll eventually get good enough to handle it all, but don't overshoot and frustrate yourself like I do sometimes.
We've managed to formulate a strategy to do hammerblow, powderkeg,Citadel Cockbag and the boss with great consistancy, one of our groups has recently done the dekka path, doing hammerblow, deka, single gyro, CC amd boss.
Time management is obvously the key and were about 1/20 so far, and obv the body dropped on anotehr run seperate from mine...
With some effort, doing all 5 (or 4 if powderkeg) nms + boss is possible.Originally Posted by Kyo
We're 2/22 or something on Citadel, which is a far sight better than our 1/50 on Hammerblow.
If you dedicated a run especially to CC, would it be reasonable to just kill the floor instead? (Don't you have to kill the chariot on this side to open the portal up anyway?)
The gear snake, can you pull gears out of it without linking them all?
As it stands our group is pretty far off from being able to do all those NMs in one run, so i'd be satisfied with the easiest way possible to do CC and only CC. After we get that down we can try something else...
-edit- nevermind...
No you cannot pull otu single gears out of the geartrain. The best way to kill it is doing slepga 1 and let your rdm / whm / other blm take hate on single gears with SLEEP2/Repose. Otherwise the train will easily own one BLM sleeper when waking up.
AFAIK someone mentioned it is possible to pull the last gear in the train without it linking the whole train. Never tried it tho.
You can pull 1 (or 2-3) gears at a time, but it's anything but reliable. More like a "here comes 6 gears...wait where are the other 3?" sort of thing when it happens.
When we kill the train, which we usually do because it's less messy than constantly having to avoid them, we let them all hateless-aggro our thf, who uses a succession of perfect dodge and fanatics drink to hold them for up to 90 seconds. At this point, usually 2 or 3 are dead and then it's trivial to fight the rest, while keeping the rest slept with assassin + troub horde or something.
